If you're wondering if you should visit the 619 Supper Club, stop wondering and just go!
The unassuming exterior leads you into a very well decorated, nicely styled interior. While it's a small place, they've laid it out in such a way that you don't feel cramped or crowded inside. Our entire dining experience was amazing! The staff really take their time on the little details, like the patterns that are shaped into the ice for your drink or how they use a scalloped edge scissors to cut the orange peel that garnishes that cocktail. Everything seems to be well thought out and very well executed.
Now, let's talk about the food! We started with the complimentary dip board which comes with their homemade flatbread and three sauces. The sauces are really nice but the star of the show is the flatbread. I tried it with the sauces but then quickly realized I just wanted to sit and enjoy the flatbread on its own. It came out warm, was so flavorful, and tasted completely amazing. For our appetizer, we had the crab puff pastry dish. It was slap-your-mama good! The crab was flaky and delicate. The seasoning and the flavors complemented the crab beautifully. The pastry was very well made. My only disappointment in this dish is that it was on the specials menu, which means it likely won't be there on my next visit ;-) For our entrees, I got the pork chop and my husband got the New York strip. I was slightly worried about the pork chop because lots of places make them so dry but theirs was done beautifully. And I will say this, mine came out and it was a little bit more rare than I wanted. Instantly, the bartender noticed (we were eating at the bar) and he sent it back. Now was definitely the time to worry about it being dried out, however, I don't know what magic they performed in the kitchen but when they brought it back out this pork chop was so tender, juicy, and flavorful. It came with a side of tomatoes and carrots and they went perfectly well with this dish. My husband's New York strip tasted amazing and his came with a side of spinach mashed potatoes. Now when we read it on the menu we thought it was going to be pureed spinach in there. Nope. Fresh baby spinach that was mixed into the mashed potatoes right at the very end. So the spinach still held a bit of its own texture and it tasted great - and you didn't end up with green mashed potatoes so that was definitely a win! For dessert, we got the butter cake which is a warm cake, served with ice cream. We loved it! The cake was great, and worked well with the ice cream and coulis that it was served with. Everything just worked so well together and it tasted wonderful. Obviously they make amazing cocktails here. The bartenders are real artists and it shows in the drinks. For those looking for non-alcoholic option, the Colony Mule is actually a great drink. It's not just fruit punch as so many non-alcoholic drinks can be. It has complexity and layers and it's just a very well made drink. I got the Bitter Love cocktail, which is sort of a take on a negroni and it was excellent. Completely excellent. The service here was great. Everyone was so attentive. This is a great establishment. I'm so happy that they've opened up in the neighborhood and I encourage you to go...
Read moreThe 619 Supper Club is appropriately named as if it gave an invitation to every grandpa in the community, but this restaurant is obviously much, much more. In fact, the level of detail put into several of the restaurant's elements will make Grandpa's jaw drop to the floor, or perhaps even say "Wow."
The first detail that impressed was the homemade, seasoned potato chips with a dipping sauce. The lattice work (waffled) structure of the potato chip was so thin that it looked like it was skillfully cut. The seasoning added a layer of flavor to it, and the watery dipping sauce was puzzling when I first put a chip into it. However, I think that you have to take the chip, dip it, and then turn it upside down so the sauce slowly drips into every crevice in the potato. Then, you chew.
You have to do a little detective work to figure out this potato chip experience, but this is the start of your enjoyment here.
I opted for the Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken and was not disappointed. There were a bunch of other menu items that looked appetizing, but I was really hankering for some lettuce leaves, a sweet and tangy flavor sauce, a protein, and a mountain of cheese.
You have to check out the menu because there are a lot of options to choose from. Six One Nine has a strong pork, seafood, and chicken game. I did not notice as many beef options.
Drinks were strong and tasty. Dessert is available. The service was wonderful, there are even three different kinds of water!
I highly recommend this Wallingford pillar of foodie-ness. Hopefully, I will go back and check up on their menu selections, as it is meant to be carefully tailored to the customer's desires. Highly...
Read moreWe went out to celebrate a new job offer and wanted to go somewhere where we would have great food that also had some healthier options. 619 did not disappoint! I started with the soup of the day, which was a creamy tomato soup. It came in a decorated bowl with a piece of basil fried in it and some garlic croutons. The soup was deliciously creamy and had some heat to it. The croutons were amazing - I love croutons that are both crunchy and soft enough to be pleasant to eat! Hubby got the bao buns, and he really liked those, too! For my main dish, I got the scallop dish. Absolute heaven! The scallops melted in my mouth!! And the orzo came with a creamy sauce that had me closing my eyes and just enjoying the absolute delicacy of the meal. Hubby got the fried chicken. He had a minor issue with the corn bread that came with it, and everyone went above and beyond to make things right. We got to meet the chef and we were very happy with everything. We finalized our evening with the lava cookie and ice cream. We shared it because we were both full and had leftovers, but it was worth it. It reminded me of when you used to go to grandma's house with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. We finished it! We had folks checking in on us regularly, making sure we had everything we needed, and had plenty to drink! The only issue we had is that it got quite loud a few times, but it seemed to die down pretty quickly. We will definitely be back. What a great experience! Thanks for opening this restaurant in...
