Sports basement is a great company over all specially San Ramon store which is one of their Beat Store.
I use Walnut Creek Store because it's Close to my fathers house but I would never use them again.
Walnut Creek management team is one of worst management I ever seen and experienced in my Life.
I went there for a simple return and they delivered the worse experience any client could ever Had.
They did return my item with out any issue at the time, but then later when I went to my home store San Ramon one of their Manager came up to me and shared that Walnut Creek Store Manager decided to close my account since he/she was under impression that I was buying things with discount and returning them for full Price which it was a Lie.
He did not do his research and just assumed that I was stealing and accused me of doing that. He/She did not had a courage to come to tell me him/her self or pick up the phone and call me directly or ask question. He/She did not review their own transaction history and records to see that I have never done that. I think Walnut Creek Manager was discriminating against me since later it was found that all of his assumption was falls.
If there was an issue with return he needed to let me know right at the time of the return or call me after to let me know what is happening and what are his/her thought process. He/She should of not call another store and had them deliver his/her dirty work.
He/She put an hold on my account due to falls Accusation and deformation of character.
I was Falsely accused of stealing which is not OK.
Manager of San Ramon was very professional, Curtis, and awesome he reviewed all my transaction for the day I opened my account with them until that day and did not find any discrepancy at all and called me with apologizing and sharing that he was sorry that Walnut Creek made such a accusations, he reinstated my account and I am continue using San Ramon sports Basement as one of best store but I would never ever use Walnut Creek.
As a manager, one of your responsibilities are customer service which Walnut Creek failed miserably.
If it wasn't for San Ramon manager and his team I would of took Sports basement to court for Falls accusation and Deformation of character as well as racism.
I would never step a Foot in that store and I will make sure I let everyone know about my experience so no one has to go through such a experience ever again.
I attend many bike events throughout California, I have cycling team, I was useing this store as a backup store which I would never use again and I will let every cyclist know so they don't use Walnut Creek.
I highly recommend to all friend and family to not use Walnut Creek SportsBasement.
In other Note please go to San Ramon and experience a Best experience Ever By any member of their staff.
Special thank to everyone at San Ramon Sports-basement Bike team as well as rest of their staff.
I did not wanted to write this and was waiting for a call from Walnut Creek Management team to apologize but since that didn't happen I decided to share.
Final Comment.
DO NOT USE WALNUT CREEK SPORTS...
Read moreI've had great experiences with all the other aspects of Sports Basement - Walnut Creek, but this is my second negative (out of two) experience with the ski rental shop.
The first one involved some demo ski's I rented (I later bought the same ski, but from a different shop due to my experience here) where they left a thick coat of wax on the skis when they gave them to me, and it wasn't till I couldn't get them to slide well that I took a look and needed to scrape them myself mountainside. I mentioned this when dropping the ski's back off and was told "That's how we do it". Insanity.
This put me off enough I didn't visit their ski shop for a couple years.
My most recent rental was some boots for my son. He has ski's but had outgrown his boots and I wanted him to try these out for size before buying some this season. I took him in a week early (as suggested when I called) to get the the right size and get them fitted to the skis ahead of time so I could "skip the fitting line". When I showed up, they had one person doing checkouts and two people standing around (presumably to do fittings and returns). The line to check out was 10 people long, but no one was waiting to get fitted and they only got two returns while I was there (Friday night, go figure). It turned out the "check out guy" was also the only one adjusting bindings to boots. I asked both of the two people who were standing around if I could just pick up the boots, since I needed no "fitting", they were on hold in the back, and pre-paid, but was told "No". After 50 minutes of standing in line, my turn came, and as predicted it took 3 minutes for me to sign the waiver for my son and acknowledge my pick up / drop off times, and I was out the door.
If you're going to rent demo's, a fresh tune / wax is great, but finish the job and scrape the bases for a smooth surface (one of the key reasons to wax). If you're going to have people get pre-fit, set the equipment aside for them, and have them pre-pay, have a way to let them skip the line if you've got someone who can run a register. Having only ONE person who can do the final five steps, on what should be expected to be a busy day (the Friday following the first decent storm in a month), with two others standing around is poor planning at best.
I'm not sure if the ski shop will get a third chance. I really like the people who work at this store (and all the other SB's I've been to), but the rental folks (while "nice") are really leaving me...
Read moreI have been away from skiing for 10 years and was in the market for a complete ski package. I was sure I would find the best deal online, but I wanted to talk to a live person and also try on boots before I purchased online.
I went to the Walnut Creek Sports Basement last Saturday and met one of the nicest, funniest, and most informative salesmen you could imagine. The half hour I spent with Tristan discussing my skiing level, budget, and expectations for potential equipment was indescribably helpful. Tristan listened carefully and showed me a few skis worth considering. All the while he took great pains to explain all the ski terminology, various options and the benefits of different features. The entire conversation felt more like talking with an old friend or a family member than a pushy salesman.
Since the store was closing for the day, I went home and did some research online. I returned to the Sports Basement on Sunday. I specifically wanted to try on ski boots prior to purchasing a pair blind online. I didn’t get his name, my bad, but I believe it was the manager of the department who assisted me. After sharing my ski level he measured my foot and brought out a pair of boots in a 30.5 MONDO that fit like a glove. After which I decided on a ski and binding. I also needed poles, goggles, and a helmet.
I worked up the cost for the package I was interested in at the Sports Basement and compared it to what I researched online the prior evening. To my surprise, the package, consisting of Rossignol Sender Soul 92 skis, Look XP11 bindings, Tecnica Blizzard Sport Mv 100 ski boots, Scott 540 Pro Black poles, and Smith Sport Optics Frontier Black Red Sol-X Mirror Lenses was lower than what I had researched online the previous evening. I purchased everything with the exception of a Giro Ratio MIPS helmet. The helmet was the only item I found online at a better price.
I would recommend the ski department at the Sports Basement in Walnut Creek to anyone in the market for ski equipment. I think you will find the people and the prices to be...
