So Iâm giving it 2 stars because I do think this gym have a lot of potential. I went to this gym for almost 2 months and had to break my contract. When I first started coming to this gym it was overwhelming because of the amount of people that are there. Coming from a gym that wasnât as crowded it took some time to get use to which I did after about 2 weeks. The machines are always being occupied you literally have to wait for machines because of the amount of people are actively in the gym at the same time. I did go at different times of the day I never went overnight but from the times I went 8 am-8 pm it was ALWAYS CROWDED. But whatever Iâm in contract so I continued to go.
I record my workouts for my social media page⌠I never had an issue up until last Wednesday. Mind you been coming to this gym for almost 2 months.. an employee came up to me and said âwe donât allow recording in this gymâ now I questioned him and asked when did this start he said âitâs signs all over the gymâ I went and recorded the entire gym thereâs only a sign in the womenâs locker room and one on the free weights area that says no cell phone use in the locker rooms! Nothing about the main floor. So now Iâm annoyed because this is how I make my money. I ask to speak to the main manager⌠he wasnât in so I spoke to another type of manager he listened to me and explained that someone should have mentioned it to me when I signed up đ which wasnât mentioned. Then he proceeds to say we are starting to be more firm on the no recording policy because someone was recording and something in the background gave them a bad reputation. I mentioned that there are still actively people recording their workouts as I have a friend thatâs currently still there and she still records her workouts. She is mixed⌠im a brown black girl I hate to say itâs about Race but you just never know because atp I feel targeted not once but twice. A few days before I was taking photos of myself while in the womanâs locker room along with two other Caucasian women. An employee was told by an older white woman that I was taking photos. She came and said âwe donât allow tripods in the locker roomâ (as my phone was on a tripod with only myself in the camera) now Iâm in a corner by myself no one is in the locker room except me and the two other white women but only I was spoken too. I spoke to the manager about it and they said âthey see how it looks and that it wasnât like thatâ but it was because she should have said something to all three of us but only cared to say something to me. When leaving out the locker room the employee pulled me to the side and said âwe know yâall take pictures of yourself we really donât care we just had to come in because a lady complained.â She then goes on to say sheâs going to say something to the other white women after the fact. Days later another incident happens while being on the main floor. In my opinion I believe I was being targeted because as I said before thereâs still current members that record their workouts there. I was able to get my contract cancelled and got a refund but I just felt very targeted. Iâm thinking about giving the deptford one a try or completely just trying out another gym. But Edge in Washington Township unless they switch out their management I will not be going and will be telling everyone I know to not go there including my white friends because they are t stern about their rules they want you to follow certain rules and certain ones can bend depending on whoâs working that day or not. No one has time for a gym that only wants to follow rules when they are told...
Read moreI have to say this is a great gym. I know there were comments about the classes being full, but often times a lot of people do not drop when they plan on not coming, making it seem like it is full. I just set alarms to make sure I can join the class I want. I waited for the first Challenge to be almost done with to do this review. I wanted to see how they handed the event. Opening night was chaos, it should have been planned out better. It was an inconvenience for challengers, I bet it was a bigger inconvenience for non challengers just trying to workout. That being said, this is the third gym that I had signed up for and by far surpasses both gyms I was a member at before. They do push their dotfit products but not the way other gyms have. Their products are better quality and have better ingredients than other weight loss products out there. It's always clean and you'll always see the cleaning staff cleaning parts of the gym that you thought they wouldn't. The sauna always works, never is broken down and smelling like mold (like my old gym). The staff is great. Always with a smile on your face, welcoming you in and saying "have a great workout" and often saying "have a good day" when you leave. When Beth, Diane and Jenssia (not sure on spelling) are upfront, its always a great day. All the staff at the front desk/shake bar have a great attitude. They also remember your name without looking at the screen when you sign in. The trainers are another part of the great team they have there. Even though I have one trainer, Ive worked with most by attending classes. Marissa, my challenge trainer, is great and always has an upbeat attitude (shes a great kickboxing and bootcamp instructor when Maryanne isn't scheduled as well). Alex, David, Jodi, Christin, Dillion and Justin are all great in their own ways. I always have fun in their Edge Strong classes. They are always attentive and will be there to correct your form or answer any questions. Even though I've only taken their classes and they aren't my trainers, they often acknowledge me when I am on the floor, always saying hi and asking if they will see me in their class this week (answer is always yes). I love Robert Rourke's (Spin Bob's) spin classes, Marianne's Bootcamp and Total Body Conditioning and Bobbi's (Barbara Johnson) Yoga. The Challenge workouts were great when Dave did the core workouts, it was challenging at first but because of him, I can now hold a plank for over a minute). Marco's portion of the class was always grueling. His classes are always the toughest but he only wants us to push our boundaries to get the results we want. I dread taking his class, I hate it when I am in there but I love how I feel afterwards. I walk out thinking "I did it and I didn't think I could". I think if It wasn't for that little, I mean big push every Saturday Morning, I would have not pushed myself to go as far as I did in the Challenge. There are trainers there for every level of fitness and they are all nice. The shakes are delicious and filling. I have too many favorites to list here. Only reason this gym is getting 4/5 stars is the lack of organization during the Challenge Kickoff. Here's to hoping the Ending party runs a little bit...
Read moreHello Google Family. This was my first time, visiting this location of the Edge. I have visited every Edge location in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This Edge location looks nice from the outside. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot. When I arrived inside, I asked for the schedule for the in person classes that they give here. They did not have any copies, they ran out. So one of the trainers printed me out a copy. I collect all of the different schedule locations. The locker rooms are large, they are like the ones at the other Edge locations. The bathroom is a nice size. They have 2 changing rooms just like all of the other Edge locations. The showers are small, though. There is no bench in there, like at Voorhees, Media and Wayne locations. There is no extra partition in the women's showers. There is only one hook to hang your items. I am used to seeing two. Other locations have only one, for example Cherry Hill and Delran. The Women's Only Area was a nice size. I was happy that when I arrived there, there was not a lot of females. I was able to get a bench and work out weights, currently 20 lbs. In the Edge Cinema, the equipment is outdated. They need new equipment. Also in the main workout area, some of the machines are broken, like the elliptical. It doesn't go up and down, like it should. The highlight of my visit was Eli, who is an employee there and works at the Edge Cafe. I told Eli, I would remember his name because of Peyton and Eli Manning.. A major difference at this location is that you can build your own drink or smoothie. You can decide vanilla or chocolate protein, 3 fruit choices and whether or not you want extra protein. I chose vanilla protein and my three fruit choices were banana, pineapple and peanut butter. Yes, Peanut butter is not a fruit. Eli made the best smoothie, it was Simply Delicious!!! I was ecstatic that I did not have to have my card charged for my smoothie. They did accept cash, something that the Edge in Wayne does not do any longer. I enjoyed my visit and I will visit sometime in the near future, when I am in the area. Good night...
