Great local swimming hole right over the state line into Washington. It's easy to find unlike a lot of other swimming holes we've visited, has a parking lot, bathrooms, bike rack, ramp, and beautiful clear water. On the to be prepared for side, the ground is really rocky and there's no shade. Next time I would definitely bring a zero gravity chair and an umbrella to be super comfy! There were kids of all ages and adults and everyone was having a good time while staying distanced. A group of teenagers was jumping from a platform into a deep spot. My girls were screaming and trying to skip rocks. Some tubers floated past us. And a family down the beach was playing music to give us some background music. The viewing platform right off the parking lot has picnic benches and a great view of the river. I don't know if this is a regular thing, but when we got there at around 5:30, the ice cream truck was just pulling through! I'm not sure when we'll be back since it was quite a haul, but I would definitely return and highly recommend for anyone nearby. It seemed about 5 to 10 degrees warmer than where we are in Portland, and a lot of folks were just showing up as we were leaving around 7: 00pm. It looked like evening might be...
Read moreBe careful how you park your car, and where you park it. DONT PARK IN PEOPLES DRIVEWAYS. There is parking available in the lot, it is limited. Im not sure if you need to pay or not. There is a house right next to the swimming hole that clearly states no trespassing. That means dont go over their fence!!!
As for the swimming hole itself, its the. Nicest one in the camas washougal area. Better than Hathaway and better than cottonwood. IMO. There's lots of rocks so not much of a sandy area to sit. There's deep areas where people jump into the water and little shallow areas for littles. There is no lifeguard so be a responsible human being and put your kid in a life jacket. There are tables to picnic on and a grassy area to set up a little...
Read moreThis is a rather small patch of sand with a larger area of rocky beach on the Washougal River that is very popular so get there early or take your chances. The water is vey cold coming from the slopes of the Mt. St. Helens area. The access is easy and the bathrooms are freshly painted and maintained. There is a large viewing deck with two picnic tables and some grass lawn areas beside and below it. Parking is limited to about 20 cars and a few spots on the gravel pull out off the road. As always, trash is left for others to enjoy picking up so please bring a bigger bag and have fun or at the very least, don't...
