We recently moved to the area and had driven past K&M Drive-In on several occasions. It looked interesting and the Yelp reviews were very good (4.5 Stars - usually a good omen), so I decided to give them a try.

The interior dining area is small with just 5 or 6 tables (they also have a drive-up window) and the place clean. I was approached immediately and professionally by a man I assumed to be the manager, taking my order and telling me "your order will be out in 7-8 minutes".

I ordered two Grilled Onion and Mushroom Garlic Bacon Cheeseburgers ($6.79 each), one with an extra 1/4 pound beef patty ($1.50), a large side of Hand Cut French Fries ($3.69), and a House Made Chili ($3.49). I was asked how I wanted the bacon cooked (chewy, medium or crispy - I asked for medium) and if I wanted jalapeños on my chili (I have severe GERD, so I told him "no"). Then I waited and waited and waited ...

I figured that they were busy, but after about fifteen minutes I assumed there was some sort of problem, a fact verified by the look on the manager's face when he still saw me sitting there waiting for my take-away order. He came to me and explained that the order in-fact never made it to the kitchen because of a computer glitch, that my order would be remade and that I would have it in "7-8 minutes". They also gave me a coupon for a free "K&M Burger" ($5.69 value), a nice gesture. So, I waited and waited and waited ... it was like deja vu all over again!

After another 10-15 minutes, another gentleman (the owner I found out, the "K" in K&M) came out with two paper bags, claiming that my first order had in-fact been made, but given away to a drive-in customer by mistake. He apologized profusely, promising to do better next time. I gave him my card - CombatCritic Was In The House! - and proceeded home to sample the chow.

Comparable to Five Guys in taste, you get only 4 ounces of beef instead of the 6.6 ounces (two 3.3 ounce patties) you get at Five Guys for a similar price (I paid $8.29 for 8 ounces), so they are not cheap. The "medium" bacon was more on the "chewy" side, but the burgers were pretty damn good I have to admit. The hand cut fries were hot and tasted OK, but were too mushy and greasy for my taste in addition to being a tad on the expensive side (nearly $4 for less than 50¢ worth of potatoes). When I opened the chili, there was an array of different colored jalapeños on top, just what the doctor (colonel in this case) HAD NOT ordered. I was expecting a thick, robust, beanless chili only because they offer chili cheese fries which routinely come with that type. What I got was a somewhat watery, tomato laden, acidic and not very tasty (but spicy, thanks to the hot peppers) variety with kidney beans, my least favorite bean in a chili (if there are any at all) due to their hard, pasty consistency.

I want to like this place mostly because of the lack of restaurants in the area and my desire to support locally owned, small businesses. This place has tons of potential and it seems as though they make a lot of their customers happy, but I was not very impressed due to the order SNAFUs (lost order, chewy bacon and jalapeños in my chili), their somewhat high prices, and the fries and chili which need, in my opinion, a new recipe or some quality control.

Maybe it was a bad night, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and not hammer them as hard as I normally would for similar shortfalls, but time will tell the tale. So, for now, ...

Really love this place for the most part as far as quality of food! Their burgers and fries are great! They go out of their way to make your burger exactly how you like it! Even to the point of asking how would you like your bacon cooked for your burger? (Crispy medium or rubbery) Don’t know of any other burger place that gives you a choice for your bacon? Not a big fan of their Onion rings though unfortunately, they certainly could be better! But for the most part everything they make is made fresh as possible and better tasting then other burger joints. The bad part is it’s a small building and their inside seating is stuffed closely together. If their busy, which they are more often than not whenever I’ve gone there! Kind of tough navigating between chairs to get a seat! But service has always been quick, nothing to complain about there! Parking not the best either, it’s a small lot! It’s a shame their not in a larger lot with a bigger building. Seems like they certainly have the business to support a better place? Weather permitting, we usually eat outside whenever possible or just eat in our vehicles as a last resort. Still worth dealing with the few negatives to get a great burger and fries. Milkshake good too! Oh, speaking of drinks! They have RC products and their far from my favorite soft drinks! Wish they switch to Pepsi products myself, coke as a second resort if they had to? Not sure if their RC was out or low on syrup? But it had no flavor at all last time I was there! Obviously I go there for the burgers, fries,...

Absolutely Top Notch Burgers---First of all , make sure you have a stack o' napkins-------you'll need them in a good way. We ordered the K&M Deluxe Bacon Cheeseburger with grilled onions and an RC. The first noteworthy sign that this was going to be GOOD was that they asked how we wanted out bacon cooked?????!!!!!!!!!!!! Limp , of course. Super friendly and helpful staff was the next positive at K&M. I missed ordering a shake , which I noticed a bit too late but the personable staff recommended a customized shake of coffee and root beer mix . My mistake--won't happen again......I'll be ordering the milkshake right off the bat the next time we come to the K&M. The burgers came out hot and fast . We had just taken first bites and before we had a chance to notice the missing grilled onions.......no problem because a cook came out with out hot grilled onions to add to our burgers-another great service indicator. Our Deluxe Bacon Cheeseburgers were super juicy, maximum sloppy and so damn good. Some of the best burgers this side of the river. Hot , fresh and did I mention JUICY. Just how we like it!!!! WE highly recommend the K&M -----------except maybe on a 1st date unless you plan to shower together after enjoying one of those super juicy delicious burgers🤣. We will be back,

The next time you are in Camas, WA and have a hankerin' for some upscale fast food, consider eating at K&M's. They use high-quality ingredients and cook to order. They have Jones Soda available via fountain. They use Kennebec potatoes for their fresh cut fries, which are cut right before they are cooked. They use homemade chili on their Chili Dogs. I tried a sample and it was delicious. Because I was traveling and anticipating eating dinner a couple of hours later, but needed something small to tide me over, I got their Garlic Herb Fried Zucchini with homemade Buttermilk Ranch dipping sauce. It was excellent! I would've taken a picture, but shortly before receiving my order, a woman who was dining with her husband and another couple struck up a conversation with me. When my order arrived, she asked me how it was. I told her it was excellent and offered everyone at her table a sample, which they accepted. All four agreed that the fried zucchini was excellent. Because the order was so plentiful, I was unable to eat it all and offered the four of them my four remaining pieces of fried zucchini, which they took me up on. It's unique opportunities such as this, to mingle with complete strangers, that I love about small towns.
