I share in the disappointment of others who have left a bad review. I just moved here from out of state and as most women will agree, finding a new stylist without a recommendation from a trusted friend is very stressful! We pay a lot for our hair and let's not talk about the time commitment. That being said, my experience was similar to others in that you have no clue who these stylists are or their experience level. I was delighted to see openings quickly and trusted that the stylist I was assigned to was going to be great. The first off-putting thing is when you walk in, it's like a giant warehouse of free-standing stylist booths, loud music, and people all around. It's not the quaint salon experience I am used to and prefer. My stylist came down to greet me and was very young. Now, I'm 44 and do not discriminate on age, looks, or any of those things. But I know with age, comes experience and I immediately got a bad feeling. I told her what I wanted, blonde highlights and a cut, exactly the way the prior stylist had done it. She commented that it was very brassy and I said, yes, I let it go longer than usual because I was trying to find someone. She said ok great, I am great at "blonding." Long story short, after sitting in that chair for over two hours, I stopped her mid blow dry and said "this isn't at all what I asked for. It's brown". She said, well it's not dry yet so it'll lighten up. I told her I know what my hair should look like at this exact moment, I've been getting it highlighted very blonde for 20+ years. She said she could put some more foils in it but I told her no, that I had been sitting there for over two hours and frankly didn't trust her to fix it. She offered for me to come back for a re-do. I didn't tell her yes or no, I just walked down to the front desk. She gave the receptionist the ticket with the pricing and once she left I told the front desk person that what was the end result was nothing like I had asked for. She tried the same "well it's not dry" excuse then she said she would happily get me in with a more "seasoned" stylist to fix it. I agreed to this as I knew I wouldn't get a refund, they have you sign a contract before they even touch your hair. She said the manager would call me tomorrow to discuss. After thinking about it that night, I decided I was going to pass on the offer. I didn't like the atmosphere anyway, I certainly did not want to spend another three hours in a chair, and just felt like another head of hair in a hair styling factory. To their credit, the manager did call me but I let it go to voicemail. I plan on finding a stylist that I know is experienced with coloring and in more serene setting. If you do decide to give this place a try, I would call rather than book online and vet who would be best for what you want done to your hair. I would insist on asking about their schooling and how long they have been styling. In my opinion, when you charge someone $250 for a service, all your stylist should be top notch. Not...
Read moreI have very frizzy curly hair with natural red undertones. After many salon experiences where cuts took no account of curl shrinkage and color processes left my hair dry, dead and brassy I gave up on stylists and started doing my own hair. Sydnei is the first stylist I went to in 15 years. I originally went to her for a color correction and grey blend as I was leaving town for 3 months and needed something low maintenance that could last while I was gone. Sydnei understood the assignment. She did an outstanding job of matching my lengths and ends to my natural color at the root, perfectly placed foil highlights and blended my grays beautifully. I wash my hair everyday and was surprised the color lasted over 3 months before only slightly becoming brassy at the lenghts. In the same 3 months the foil placements transitioned subtly and i probably could have extended out ankther month or 2. I just went back to her for the 2nd time to see if I can transition to 100% natural and she again did a fantastic job matching lowloght foils to my natural hair color which is a complex mix of highly faceted and multicolored dark sandy strawberry blonde. No easy task to blend that with greys while toning frass developing in the lengths. Being specialized in curls, Syndei was mindful of the importance of hair health in the optimization of curls. She was careful not to overprocess my hair and has essentially undone years of self inflicted damage and color compromise from at home box dyes in just 2 salon visits. Her cuts somehow keep as much length as possible while creating an intentional shape for curls and removing the damage. My hair feels like silk right now after a simple was and go style. It is restored from an involuntary grown out natural curl mullet to a bouncy crown of curls. She knows what she is doing and has unbelievable talent. Sydnei is the first stylist I have met in 44 years on this earth who I feel comfrtable saying "I trust you to match my natural color so I can move away from dye and I believe you can shape my hair into a decent haircut where my curls are tamed," and just ket her work her magic. Sydnei is the only stylist I will near me with color or scissors. I trust her judgement. She knows how to get you the look you seek. Twice now she has provided the best experience I have ever had with a stylist by far. I cannot recommend her enough to any curly girl or anyone with red undertones that cause dye to brass. This woman is exceptional and you cannot find a better stylist for any of your difficult hair needs. Curly heads need other curly heads as stylists because it can be a real struggle and other curlies have experience with the problems we face . Sydnei is a specialist who makes the whole experience relaxing because of the trust in knowing you are in capable hands . Both times I have left my appointment with Sydnei my expectations were exceeded by...
Read moreI tried so hard with them. I'll try to keep this concise. -Scheduled my appointment over a month ahead of time so it would be right before my birthday and easily work with my schedule (Haircut, coloring from color treated red to brown with blond highlights) called a week or two before to ask if they needed me to come in for a color consultation and they said no (enormous red flag) -the lady got more information about my hair length, thickness, color, and said she had me down for the stylist's last appointment so she would have plenty of time to get it done -stylist runs rather late for my appointment and tells me she won't have time to do my coloring tonight due to the weather forecast moving up other people's appointments (no one had given me a heads up AT ALL, no courtesy call, nothing.) and would have to come back another day for the coloring -At least got a cut. The cut is Fine. It's passable. For the amount of time I was there, mixed with the lack of professionalism, and amount of money I paid for it, simply not worth it. Overall, incredible disappointment. Not having a color consultation for a new customer beforehand is simply unheard of. Honestly, thank god for the weather, because if she had time to do my hair, I would have either spent twice as much as I expected, or decided it was too much and still been met with the disappointment of not giving myself the birthday present I'd been looking forward to and planning on for a month. I could have found a slightly less expensive option within that salon, but decided to look elsewhere due to the various red flags JUST SAYING: I understand that hair stylists are artists, they should be paid well for their work. But you're also paying for the experience and to be taken care of with some professionalism. The salon I went to for the coloring did a color consultation AND did a marvelous job for half the price of...
