I checked this place out about a month and a half ago and was impressed. The food was decent, and the service was pretty good. Fast forward to today when we stopped in about 1:30. There were 6 of us, and my sister came down from Appleton to hang out, so I suggested West Bend Creamery because I thought it was good. My wife, son and I ordered with no issues. The first thing my sister ordered was fried pickles, to which the register person then asked, "would you like ranch dressing with that"? On the menu it's supposed to come WITH ranch dressing, so that was odd. She paid for her food and as we waited, the drinks were offered. Her grandson ordered a milk with his meal and when the drinks were ready, his milk was a little over half full in the cup! Now I may be old fashoned but if you order a beverage the cup should be full, not a little over half full. The food then arrived, and my sister had no fried pickles with her order, so she asked about them, and the cashier who asked her if she wanted ranch with them, never even rang the item up! She then asked if my sister wanted them, to which she replied no thanks. Our food was rather bland. I had the foot long chili dog with fries. The chili on the dog was lacking in flavor so I put ketchup on it to give it some flavor. The fries were great, crisp and tasty. My son ordered the beer cheese burger. His burger "had no flavor and was not very good". The napkins in the dining area were empty, and the "hard working" employees were too busy standing around talking to go out and fill them I guess. I have read the owners remarks in other 1-2 star reviews but from what I'm seeing in those remarks is someone who is complacent in just having bodies there instead of holding the employees accountable and keeping them busy. I really want West Bend Creamery to succeed, and time will tell if they do. As someone who delivers food as their job, it is extremely dissappointing to see how bad customer service has become in the restaurant industry. I will give them another visit because in this day and age you can't base a business as a whole in one or two visits, and I can't imagine how difficult it is to run a business in this environment. I wish West Bend Creamery all the best, they are still "new" in the area, however, the clock...
Read moreFirst time and last time ever coming here! When my husband and I pulled up and walked in, a group of girls were all too busy gossiping together behind the counter and barely noticed us. Then we felt like an inconvenience for just trying to place our order. I ordered a strawberry lemonade and it tasted bad. (I’m not a picky person by any means but it did not taste right) I also ordered the classic fish sandwich. Bun was old and dry, barely any tartar sauce on it and the fish was mushier than it should have been. I actually ended up getting food poisoning from it a few hours later. My husband said his burger was ok, but not great. The whole entire time we dined in, the group of girls were all standing around talking and not doing anything. The cook was playing on his phone while wearing gloves. After we ate dinner, we were hesitant but decided to give their ice cream a try and ordered to go. My husband ordered a large cone and watched one of the girls make it. She broke the cone as she was making it and one of the other girls asked her if she was going to remake it and the girl laughed and said “no”. When she brought it to him, she said “Here you go. You’ll probably need extra napkins.” She clearly didn’t even have a care in the world so he had to ask for a dish or a cup to put it in which also seemed like a inconvenience to her. Then after we left, he ate his ice cream on the way home and noticed there was a long hair in his ice cream! We had to turn all the way around and bring it back. When we came back, I had to interrupt the girls little pow wow again and ask for the manager. Thankfully he was kind and understanding of the situation and refunded us for the cone and lemonade. But unfortunately I don’t think that will be enough for us to come back. First impression is everything and it...
Read moreWow! What a great first meal at this new restaurant! Such an amazing transformation from the former, "Toucan's". I had the Bleu Cheese Burger with fries with the maple walnut explosion custard sundae. The burger: was delicious! The food was fresh and made-to-order, and I was pleased with the cleanliness (can see them making my food through the glass). The wait wasn't long (for a consistent line on a Sunday) and the portion size was very fair! Couldn't finish it because it was large and filling! The sundae: also amazing! It'll be hard to branch out and try new things now that I've found something I like so much! My husband ordered the original bacon burger with fries, a 24oz custard mixer with two toppings. Said it was all very good too. We live about 5 minutes away and the food all traveled well (we ordered it to-go at the counter. They charge $.50 per meal for the takeout expense. I was fine with that.). When we got the food home, the meals were still hot, and we threw the custard into the freezer (which wasn't yet melting - very happy with that as I've had custard from other places melting before it gets into my hands). It's not the cheapest place to eat (I'd give it a $$ out of $$$ for price), but it's worth it for a fun date night, or a way to end your bike ride on the Eisenbahn Trail just down the street! We'll be back! Picture is of the to-go maple...
