I went to the Clothes Clinic to have a dress altered for my daughter’s wedding. This dress fit me rather well, and just needed a few minor tucks and a hem. I asked if she could add a lining as the skirt of the dress was clingy. That came out perfectly as did the hem. That said, she completely ruined the bodice. Again it just needed a few tucks, under the arms and maybe just a little on the shoulders. Instead of doing that she grabbed and pinned the material at the shoulders only, significantly pulling everything up. The mirror was behind me and honestly, I just trusted she knew what she was doing. At that first fitting she remarked that my breasts were below the cups that were part of the dress. I was confused by this. She told me to just pull them up. I figured I should just get a strapless bra and all would be good. When I picked up the dress I quickly tried it on and other than noticing that it was now tight under my arms and the length was good. It wasn’t until I started to move around that I understood what she had meant and that the cups were up at my armpits. The waist which sat at my waist originally was now several inches higher than it should be. No strapless bra or anything else would keep my breasts in the cups. This truly was heartbreaking and the dress that I so loved was ruined. Thankfully my daughter went elsewhere for her wedding dress alterations and looked amazing. I just do not understand why she did what she did. Especially when she noticed that I was not naturally in the cups. Horrible experience and I will never go back or recommend her shop for...
Read moreMimosa is absolutely, hands down, the BEST seamstress I have ever worked with. She has been altering and making my garments since my first prom dress at 16– I am now 27, and still faithfully use her services. She just completely made my wedding dress one-of-a-kind! I wouldn’t have trusted anyone else to touch the garment I walked down the aisle in!!
What makes her different is the fact that she is a TRUE seamstress who is also exceptionally skilled at her craft. She can, of course, do everything from fixing a button or a zipper to creating entire garments from scratch. But she also has an eye like no other. Many people can learn and replicate different skills, but it takes a true craftsman to also be able to give feedback and suggestions based on the occasion, your look, your age..etc. There have been many occasions where I was indecisive on what to change and how to do so and she is able to quickly access and make the perfect choice.
If you are trying to find a seamstress that is the total package in skill and service, she is the perfect seamstress for you. She cares. She will make you look and feel your best. You won’t regret going to The Clothes Clinc!
I’ll add a couple of many things she’s done for me below. The black dress she made completely...
Read moreThankfully, Mimoza was recommended to do any alterations for my daughter’s wedding gown from the owner of the bridal shop where she had purchased her gown. She was incredibly accommodating scheduling appointments not only for the Bride but for the Maid of Honor, the Flower Girl and the Mother of the Bride. Each of these gowns required more significant alterations other than simply hemming each gown ( all were the absolute perfect length!) and Mimoza made all the necessary changes with great patience, accuracy and always with a smile and fun conversation making all of us feel very comfortable. We always looked forward to going back for our next fitting. All of us were extremely happy when we could finally take our gowns home but the bride was ecstatic with how awesome her gown looked when it was finally done. On the day of the wedding I lost count of how many times she said how much she loved her gown and couldn’t wait to send Mimoza photos!!! Thanks again Mimoza for all of your hard work! We all loved how we looked on the big day and appreciate your...
