My kids took me here for my birthday dinner last night. We had been one other time and had a decent experience. Unfortunately, this trip was an absolute disaster. It was a Tuesday, so we didn't think we needed to make reservations. It was busy though and we ended up waiting about 20 minutes to get seated. The waitress came over and took our drink order, which was only two drinks and two waters, so no heavy lifting there. We ordered an appetizer and our meals. The appetizer never came and the waitress had to keep coming over to apologize for the long wait. She told us a party of 26 was in the back and their orders went to the kitchen prior to ours. It took over an HOUR for the meals to come out, and at that time only three of the four meals came. My daughter got a steak, which was overcooked, and I got a chicken dish. The chicken was warm but the sides were cold and not good. My son's steak was cooked perfectly but his sides were also cold. My other son ordered the most basic food on the planet, a burger....which did not come out with the other meals. We were told a couple times it would "be right out", and that the chef had sent it back because it wasn't cooked right. It's a burger, how long could it take even if it was a re-fire? So a good fifteen minutes later his food finally came and we realized that we had never received the appetizer. The waitress told us it was "on the bill" and asked if we still wanted it. We said we did and it came out a while later, so it had never been fired. Then we asked for one dessert to share, so we could at least eat something while waiting for my son to finish his meal. The dessert came out looking like the scrapings of apple crisp (which was COLD) left over from the party of 26, and the whole plate was mostly ice cream, which we were charged an extra $3 for? The waitress even asked if we liked it and I told her unapologetically "no". I get that a party of 26 puts a lot of strain on the staff, but I also know most restaurants aren't going to take a "walk in" party of that size without a reservation. So they certainly had time to prepare and staff accordingly so there weren't any negative effects felt by other diners.
The final icing on this half baked cake came when the bill got dropped and reflected ZERO apologies for the overwhelmingly horrible experience. The waitress should've relayed the multitude of issues to the manager, who then should have at least taken off the late to the party appetizer and subpar, mostly untouched dessert. We tipped her 20% because most of the problems were not her fault, but she should've requested some comps. A simple adjustment to compensate for the mess would've averted this review and preserved some hope for future patronage. This place is definitely SCRATCHED from the list. ...
Read moreWanted to try Table 12 because it's owned by the same folks who own the Black & White restaurant in Spencer, MA, and we've never been disappointed with a meal there. We were expecting the same sort of service and quality. We were there at 4:30 on Saturday - usually just before the dinner crowd arrives (or so we thought) but the place was literally packed. We took that as a good sign. Didn't have to wait overly long for our table - another plus. We ordered a flatbread BLT appetizer, which came promptly, and was excellent. The rest of our meal - not so excellent. I ordered the surf & turf, promising 3 small tenderloin filets, scallops and soft-shelled crab. I asked if I could order it without the crab, since I don't care for it, and told that I could. I asked for my filet to be cooked medium-well - pinkish, but not red inside. My husband ordered the 18-oz grilled rib-eye steak, again, medium-well, please. We both ordered baked potatoes with fresh herbed butter, which sounded nice. And thus began the wait....over an hour for our entree to be brought out. A couple seated across from us who came in well after we did actually received their entrees and were close to finished when ours came out. My filets were overcooked; three small rounds of dry meat that weren't even particularly tender, which is the first thing you expect from a tenderloin. And, atop the filets, sitting in a kind of pale beigey-orangey sauce, were three decidedly undercooked scallops - translucent and just a minute - or maybe two - short of being right. My husband's steak was overcooked and tough. The herbed butter - tasted like oregano, and too much of it. The flavor was harsh rather than subtle. So our baked potatoes, which are pretty hard to mess up, weren't good, either. In the article I read before we went to Table 12, it said that the chef from the Black & White was cooking there. If he (or she) was, they apparently left their expertise back in Spencer. I feel badly that we were so dissatisfied and won't be returning anytime soon; perhaps they are just getting themselves situated and it will improve. I think we'll give it a year or so before...
Read moreIt’s a shame the service and experience me and my friend received. Went there on evening of Sunday 7/17/22 .My coworker actually recommended the place raving about the food. I drove from north central ma to go have a few drinks and food with a dear friend of mine. At the door the host did not offer outside seating or indoor just seated us at a booth. Gave us a menu and told us the waitress will be with us shortly. Waitress came shortly after but no personality whatsoever (young girl but hospitality is to be expected in a restaurant). We ordered water to start and drinks after. Drink took about 15 20 min to be servers and the food came about 40 minutes. I don’t mind waiting but I have definitely gotten faster service in other places. Long story short, waitress was horrible she never checked to see if anything was needed . I order baked haddock plate and needed butter and she was no where to be found. Never topped off drinks. Waiters and waitresses kept walking by us looking at us but not a single one asked how we were doing. Let me inform you that the place was not busy at all and there were more than enough staff walking up and down the corridors. Just to let you know I am black and my friend is Mexican and white American and we are both medical workers. I would never treat my clients or patients the way she did. It’s sad but I truly think this place discriminates. Especially since the whole time the white lady seated next to us was getting serviced like she was the queen from Game of Thrones. “ How was the food? Can I get you anything else? “ Ect…Young people millennials please get your work ethics up to par! If you want a good tip you need to work for it! We will never go...
