Ph.d Electronics Inc. — Attraction in West Chicago Township

So I just went in last night to have a remote starter put on my car. I was going to get it done at the dealership but the price they quoted was #CRAZY (to me). I was about to call the dealership for an appointment when it hit me the #dealerships #always #OverCharge. so I googled locations for the service I wanted. Anyway I think this was the first one to pop up. I called requested a quote and the price was in line with what I thought it should be. So I set up my appt. and I thought it was #AWESOME that I could go in on a Sunday. SO the wait was about 2.5 hrs. They have a nice size waiting area, which is clean and I was surprised to see the restroom was fairly clean. Nice tv to watch while you wait. Or bring your own form of entertainment, (audio)book or whatever. Service was nice, no problems, the remote starter works great, (well it's not even been 24 hrs but I started my car from my window on the 12th fl so hey it works!.. AT this moment, I'm #Satisfied with my service. (However They turned my car lights off "Auto" so when I drove off my lights weren't on and I didn't realize it for several blocks and only b/c someone #Blew their horn at me. (Thank you, whoever you were). Because they are generally on AUTO I didn't pay attention to that. (I realized once I got home,. they must've turned the lights off b/c upon start up the lights would be on. I don't really mind that. But anyway I paid for my service and signed my receipt with a really good ink pen, so I asked the guy, "Can I have this" he said "Sure" LOL so I have a new pen.. This place Phd does not stand by their merchandise and they’re selling defective merchandise speakers, amplifiers and subwoofer, and remote car starters that are all defective and will break leaving your vehicle not able to start up or speakers and amplifier breaking and blowing out in one or two months after you have spent your hard earned money only to find out that they don’t allow No REFUND or NO EXCHANGE on defective merchandise a policy that’s illegal first off when your selling merchandise costing up to thousands of dollars because the law requires retailers to stand by the merchandise they sell and that it must live up to its expectations and fit for purpose and match description provided during time of sell PHD do not stand by there merchandise and will try to force you to deal with manufacturer when it’s their defective merchandise and they are responsible for selling them that explains why they do not REFUND your money after their defective merchandise breaks down in one or two months three months top. The owner is very cheap and dishonest and he is a creep that has serious problems understanding and comprehending the law which explains why this place Phd has no regard for following the law for consumers. keep your money do not shop here don’t waste your time going here find a better legitimate business owner who stands by there business and merchandise and service and who doesn’t have a illegal policy of NO REFUNDS or EXCHANGE for any reason even defective...

I purchased a Groupon for a remote starter, with 2 remotes, installed by PH D for $129.00, and overall was satisfied.

I made an appointment Dec.19th 2013 for there earliest and got in Jan. 6th 11am (Coldest day in Chicago in over 2 decades) and was told the job would take about 3 hours. The wait was not bad, their separate waiting room with movie seating, flat screen TV and cable and a heater but still cold in there. The work was done in about 2.5hrs and I was very happy, very nice man took me out to my van and showed me how to use my new fob/starter and then made sure I was able to use it.

*NOTE the fine print on GROUPON- extra charges (very by vehicle) if your key has a chip (mine 2006 Chevy Uplander was $74.99) as well as * extra charge if you want keyless remote on same fob as your new starter ($40.00) (not needed if you have already have a fob to open doors, but means you have to use two different fobs when starting your car then opening the door) + City Chicago sales tax 9.5% paid another $138.19 at Ph.d Electronics Inc to do the job.

so be prepared to pay $250-$300 total for starter and installation, Just sayin...
