The lineup this year for riot fest was very disappointing and I had already bought presale tickets before the lineup was even announced. So I pretty much just went and saw AFI and TSOL. Great park though. I really wish they would allow access to the shaded areas to other people than the VIPs. But that really has nothing to do with the park. Little pond swamp thing in the VIP section is really cool and I like the stone benches somewhat surround the east end. It was a fantastic place to sit and listen to music that I didn't really care about. Again, this has nothing to do with the park itself and since this is a review for the park I feel bad but the pizza really sucked but the burger from one of the venues was really good. I am disappointed that looking at Google Earth shows the damage that riot fest is done. It's almost like they should probably move parks every now and then and rotate them. I do feel bad about the neighborhood being so loud and people taking up parking spaces and such. But I'm at a really nice lady who lived in one of the buildings that we were walking past. She really liked seeing people around. She was probably a good people watcher. I haven't decided if I'm going to go next year or not. Seeing the destruction of the park year after year is a bit sad but but watch they have operation. Ivy play next year and then I feel like I'll have to go. I do live in the Chicago area but I'm on the south side so getting to Douglas Park isn't something that I can do all the time but I feel like I want to give back to the community and that I should. I just...

Read moreThis is a very important piece of natural land, with wetland and prairie habitats, as well as a beautiful lagoon. I saw turtles, frogs, a bunch of pollinators, dragon flies, native plants, and even a sandhill crane, as well as a black-crowned night heron (now endangered).
The sad thing is, the City of Chicago has neglected it, as well as a lot of the visitors of this park, who trash the heck out of it. Beer cans, plastic bags, food waste, etc. There are bins along the parking areas, and folks just can't bear carrying their trash with them. I hope the city puts trash bins within the park, and people start respecting the land. Most of the state has lost it's natural habitats, and I hope this piece isn't lost...
