I wish I could give 0 stars to Letterman Chicago because even 1 star feels too generous. My experience at this apartment has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the day I moved in, I faced constant issues, including water damage, leaking toilets, wet carpeting, and a foul odor that made the unit completely uninhabitable. Despite reporting these problems multiple times, management failed to provide any meaningful resolutions. The situation escalated when my unit experienced sink regurgitation, soaking the carpet, damaging my personal belongings, and attracting bugs. The smell of sewage was so unbearable that it caused me physical distress. To make matters worse, smoking and odors from neighboring units infiltrated my apartment every single day, making it impossible to find peace or comfort at home. When I asked to terminate my lease due to these unacceptable conditions, management refused and forced me to stay in the unit, despite the ongoing problems. This lack of care and basic decency from the management is completely unacceptable. Living here was a nightmare physically, mentally, and emotionally. The stress and anxiety caused by this apartment have taken a serious toll on my well-being. I don’t even want to give a single star. If you’re looking for a safe, clean, and livable apartment, avoid Letterman Chicago at all costs. Don’t waste your money, health, or sanity on this place.

I DO NOT recommend to live here. I lived here for a while, and my creditability is undoubtable. At the very beginning, while I was signing contract with them at the earliest time ( at least 5 months before the contract begins) they promise me that they will give me the area that I want, where I ended up at the second floor close to the nosiest street and with an unexpected loud neighbour. I asked if I could move to a better place, they told me there will be a fee charged to that if I want to move..... I understand their difficulties on assigning everyone to the apartment which will fit their requirements so I backed down and accepted the reality.... The first year I found out that this apartment is really BAD at SOUND PROOF. In the middle of the night, I can hear my neighbour partying so hard and the next day I got woke up by them playing loud music and this really STRONG SMELL (Foods they made) came out from their apartment. I emailed the apartment office, they took care of it at that night, but it happened again and again which is quite frustrating for both me and the neighbours around as residents because of the sound proof PROBLEM!! We were NOT INFORMED about this at the beginning before we signed the contract, We are not signed up for this Controlled life style. The manager apologized very politely so I tolerated and keep staying with them for another year. AND GUESS WHAT HAPPENED! I got bug bites everywhere on my body. I showed them the bumps and asked the office to find someone to exterminate the bugs. In order to get someone to exterminate the bugs they asked me to do a physical check so that they know it's not because of my personal allergic problems. I NEVER HAD ANY ALLERGIC REACTIONS! So I have to bear the bug bites for another couple of weeks because it takes time to make reservation and do a physical check then ask them to find a company to do the extermination.... the doctor proved the bumps are definitely bug bites. and after they did several times of exterminations I never got bug bites but it took sooo long to solve the problems and I got accused for causing the problem which is another frustrated experience.... Not to mention that I wanted to get my package from the front desk but the lady question me and said can't you see I am busy right now. CAN YOU WAIT? .... then I watched her cleaning the desk and organized everything on the desk for a few minutes then she checked out my packages...... they had been rude to me and my roommates.. Sorry I can't tolerate any of these anymore, the price is definitely not worth it based on the service.... there are more problems than what I just said believe it or not.... if the apartment can't solve any of these problems, I am not sure what's gonna happen to...

Avoid this place like the plague because that's essentially what you are signing up for. I was warned not to get an apartment here. Don't be like me and fall for the really nice apartment they show you during the tour. After I signed, they moved me into a cockroach infested apartment. It took weeks of arguing with management to get it fixed. There are old and rusty pillars at the most inconvenient places, the wooden ceilings drop dust occasionally, and the heating is inconsistent at best (shoutout to the maintenance guy who lent me a portable heater). The worst offender was the bed bugs for the last few months. I ran away as soon as I could, and found a sublet when I felt that the bed bug situation was somewhat solved. But he was driven out too because the situation got much worse. Legal actions were threatened to no avail. I reached out to management multiple times to request for at least a rent waiver or discount for the final month since the apartment is empty and as compensation for the extremely unsafe and poor conditions I was treated with since the beginning of my lease. But I never received any response except for a delinquency notice. Please don't waste your money and risk your physical and mental health by signing here.

Edit: The pest issue not being reported for months is a massive exaggeration. The issue was recognised by the maintenance team, because we did not realise it was bed bugs that were keeping us up at night and causing itches and rashes. But to claim that we did not report any problems is a misrepresentation of events. They are claiming they did not notice any cockroaches prior to my move in, but I have come to find out that my old room was leased out to a new tenant without fixing the bed bugs situation first, and this tenant has now moved out after threatening legal action. Clearly, being aware of pre existing problems does not stop them from leasing to a new person. Which brings to doubt the credibility of their claim of not knowing about the cockroach problem before I moved in. They also offered to communicate over email, but as mentioned in the original review, I never received any responses to any of my attempts at email communication. I have chalked up a lot of the problems at letterman to ignorance. But more information since moving out is pointing to a dileberate, malicious conduct with no regards to the safety and well being of...

I waited until my contract with automatic lofts was over, because management seems to take a bitter approach to individuals who want the rules and law enforced. My bathroom smelled like weed every morning from the apartment above us. My roommate and I had asked about this multiple times since we would smell like weed while getting ready for work. One time and employee came in and said "Oh no, that's just the mildew"... Wait... how about you fix your mildew problem then?... The guys above us were basketball players and I am fairly certain that management was just protecting them. There is a rule that you can't have more than 5 guests per person living in the unit and that parties can't be past midnight on weekends/10pm on weekdays. The apartment above us repeatedly was "approved" to have more than the allotted number of guests 30-45 guests in a small loft apartment with thin walls. They would party until 3-5am. I was told by management that they were not aware of this problem. I lived there for 2 years, and I had called at least once a week for months at a time. How did they not know? I was told that they would take care of the problem. Guess what, they never did. Until the day I moved out, this was an issue. It got to the point where the apartment above us would come down to own door and threaten us or call us on the internal line to threaten us. When this was brought up to management, we got a response that it was unacceptable. It still happened. Laura was a good manager. Melissa was awful and repeatedly had called myself and other roommates liars about certain issues. I am not sure what her problem with us was. When the management tries to sell you a room saying that it is great for professional and post graduate students... do not believe them. I will probably get a response from management saying "we are sorry for your experience. Please leave feedback at JMGrealty blah blah", but I left my feedback with your management. How about you check the records and see how many times front desk security tried to help me get control of noise and weed issues.

UPDATE: The owners responded below saying to reach out about giving feedback because they take it "VERY" seriously. I emailed the provided email address, and guess what. I NEVER heard back from the company. This has been over...
