I hate writing bad reviews. But I was so incredibly disappointed by the food at Green Street Local- that even the enjoyable atmosphere could not make up for it. If you go to watch a game, you can enjoy many gigantic TV screens surrounding you. Expensive drinks- I got my Moscow mule in a tired looking cup, and it was just OK. The Pizza Margarita, on a cracker tasting crust with very little cheese, sauce, or anything- was the worst pizza I’ve ever had. Priced at $20 (or more?), this was a huge disappointment. I even brought it home because I thought maybe something was wrong with my tastebuds. But, in the pictures I took the next day, you can see how sad this pizza was! I tasted my friend’s steak sandwich and bit into a big piece of fat. He later commented to me on how fatty the steak sandwich was, and the fries were also subpar. I’ve had much better food at a bar for a quarter of the price. I do not recommend this place for a meal.

Tucked away in the “trendy” West Loop neighborhood, Green Street Local is a college football bar. With an interesting menu of traditional American cuisine with odd twists it’s for most people. I went here to try the Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap. It is not on the sandwich menu but it is offered as a “handful” under the salads. Unfortunately I didn’t love it, it had cherry tomatoes, said it had a “spicy Caesar dressing”, it was not spicy, it was a thinner dressing, more oily than thick, no croutons, and not enough Parmesan cheese. They have a great drink menu and it is kid friendly (crayons, kids cups, other kids). The French fries are mid. Overall the CCSW was not worth getting. My husband got the Chicken Pot Pie and said that the veggies were “water logged”. The staff were kind, and efficient.

This is a nice dinner spot especially after a long day of being out and you want to chill with sports on their many televisions, a beer, and something good from their menu. My son got the junior nachos with only cheese and chips. The cheese was a combo between melted cheese and shredded cheese which was awesome. I got the brockwell sandwich (grilled chicken) and it was also perfect. We ordered an Oreo shake to go and didn’t have it until 40 minutes later, but it was still really good. Service here is also really good.

Gather round children for a textbook example of how careless “sports bar” staff can sour an otherwise perfect football Sunday. You see, yesterday was a huge day, for the Eagles last hope to clinch a playoff spot required a Bears victory over the Vikings. This created a rare and unique fan concept where I could cheer for the Bears along with most of my friends. “Let’s go to Green Street Local” they said. “It’ll be great fun” they said.

Arriving a full 45 minutes before kickoff, there were four TVs at the upstairs bar we were sitting at. They were set to DAL-DAL-DAL-CLE.

After talking to other people at our bar we all agreed that it should be CHI-KC-PHL-CHI. We had Bears, Eagles, and Chiefs fans, and we wanted everyone to have a decent view of their game based on position at the bar. It was fair and everyone would be happy.

After like 30 minutes of asking, their first “attempt” ended up with KC-PHL-CHI-CLE. This is how we enjoyed kickoff.

After another 30 mins of complaining, their second “attempt” ended up with KC-CHI-PHL-CLE.

Finally after like another whole hour of this BS they switched again this time to KC-PHL-CHI-CHI around half time. This is how it remained the rest of the game. Because of this, almost nobody at the bar had a good view of the game they wanted to watch. And nobody was watching the Browns!!!

To top it all off, our main bartender kept giving us rude gestures and curt responses when we repeatedly asked (politely and soberly) for the correct channels. I don’t think she was even listening to our team choices because even after the TVs kept changing to the wrong ones, she would point up and say “but they switched!?” and then ignore us. Maybe she was having a bad day, you can never know, but it certainly wasn’t helping the situation. I guess Step 1 would be don’t hire people who hate sports at your sports bar.

Thankfully, victory was ours in the end, but I won’t be returning here for any important games. They just don’t care about their supposed target market. That being said the food and drinks are good and the place is otherwise clean, open and modern. Probably great if you aren’t...

We came here for a quick beer before an event. All was fine, until we went to leave and discovered that our backpack (with a laptop inside) that had been sitting at our feet, was mysteriously suddenly gone. We asked all the bar staff and hosts, looked everywhere, nothing - and started to panic.

Finally had one nice host assist and ask all the staff, back and front - nothing. It was only when I said we’d need to file a report and request their security footage for the police report that they suddenly, miraculously unearthed some kid from the back who opened a closet and gave us our backpack. No explanation.

Why would they just take our bag out right from under us without saying a word? Even if you thought it was an abandoned bag, common sense would be to ask the people nearby if it’s theirs before taking it away. We’re not paranoid people, we live in Chicago, and we are careful - but I have never had bar staff just take a bag away from under a person and hide it in a closet while I wasn’t looking.

Clearly, this was a super bold and bizarre attempt at theft. So watch out - they might steal your stuff here! (Shout out to the helpful...

Make this place your new hangout, right now!!! Green Street Local is just what the Greektown/West Loop area was missing. The menu is unlike anything I’ve seen before. No matter what you’re craving, I swear you won’t be disappointed! Calamari coated in Capt Crunch (w/ cherry pepper relish!!!)… check! Massive mound of cheesy baked angel hair pasta… check! Fried chicken and doughnuts? They’ve got it! With their extensive beer/wine/liquor list, I always try something new and delicious when I stop in.

This has definitely become my go-to when I’m going out to watch a game with friends! Killer atmosphere, so many TVs and a huge projection screen. You have to check out the movie theater-style seats upstairs — so awesome and unique!

My favorites (so far) include: Blistered Shishito Peppers - I COULD EAT THIS ALL TO MYSELF Tomato, Tomahto Pizza - Fresh ingredients, yummy crust! Carbelicious - Never tasted anything like it in my life, so delish! Broadway Steak & Eggs - SO much flavor and the eggs are so fluffy, it’s unreal.

Still have yet to try the desserts and their NEW brunch!!!...
