We watched the show from the Triwizard stage (left of the castle) and was able to clearly see everything without craning our necks. The light shows are "standing only" to prevent people from tripping and to make sure everyone can squeeze in to see it. So, make sure you grab a spot where you will be able to see over everyone else...
