We visited Universal Studios Hollywood for the first time on 12/3/24. We went to the final Waterworld show of the day and it was packed to capacity. Being December, we had no desire to get wet and therefore sat high up in the stands. Having never watched the Waterworld movie, we did not really understand the characters, but the overall plot was made clear by the narrator at the start of the show. The start of the show seemed a bit slow and it appeared someone was supposed to water ski behind a jet ski, but something went wrong so the jet ski went around dragging the cable without a skier. Part way through the show, though things got more interesting. I don't want to spoil it, but I don't know how they pulled it off, because it was so sudden and unexpected. Overall, there was a number of high dives/falls into the pool, gasoline explosions, fire on water, gun shot sounds, etc. Lots of special effects. I even recognized one of the stunt guys as being in a Star Wars show. In general, I am more of a story driven movie fan and find strings of action without well written scripts to be not as interesting. I think USH has excelled over the years due to good writing and if they add some of that into this show, it would be even that...
ย ย ย Read moreWaterWorld at Universal Studios Hollywood blew us away! This show isnโt just a theme park attraction itโs a full-blown action spectacular that rivals anything youโd see in a movie theater. The explosions, stunts, jet-ski chases, and water effects kept us on the edge of our seats the entire time. You can feel the heat from the fireballs and splash from the wild jet-ski stunts itโs that immersive.
But what truly made this experience unforgettable was the kindness of the cast. After the show, the actors and actresses took time out of their day to meet fans, and they were so gracious and warm, especially with my son. He was absolutely starstruck, and they went out of their way to make him feel special smiling for photos, chatting with him, and making sure he had a moment to remember.
As a parent, those moments mean everything. It turned a great day into a magical one. Thank you to the entire WaterWorld cast for your talent, energy, and generosity. You brought joy not just through the performance but through...
ย ย ย Read moreI had the pleasure of being here for Waterworld as well as The Purge: Dangerous Waters, Iโve reviewed both below.
โขWaterworld 5/5: this is a stunt show! What a ride, me and friends had a blast. I knew to sit in non-splash zones (yes, I didnโt want to get soaked), we had a hell of a time! The actors did a phenomenal job portraying their roles, and got the crowd amped before the show started, what an intro. The show itself is well thought out as far as story and stunts, it holds your attention, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The hours and effort this must take stunt workers is reflected by how excitedly the crowd responded throughout, kudos to them. A must see show!
โขThe Purge, Dangerous Waters (HHN only) 4.75/5: imagine regular Waterworld, but add more heat, fire, flames, blood, and gore! The actors pull out all the stops yet again. It had a good story, was well acted and coordinated. Iโm grateful to have been at Universal while this...
