I really wanted to like this place. But for the money I should have booked at the Sheraton for $40 more a night. I verified my reservation a few days before and requested an early check in due to my flight coming in at 8 AM. The gentleman I spoke to said they would have a room ready and if was after 10 AM when I arrived I wouldn't be charged and extra fee. Well we arrived at the motel close to 11 AM. There wasn't a room ready for us and we were told we had to wait until 12:30. And they did charge me for early check in. And on top of that they pre charged the deposit before I even arrived. I have never had a hotel or motel pre charge a deposit.
We finally got into a room just after 12:00. Yes the room was very small. Not a whole lot of space for luggage and things. I do not think the beds were Queen sized they appeared more like full size. And they were the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in. I woke up repeatedly through out the night and my back and hips were killing me when I got up in the morning.
The TV didn't work when we first arrived and that took almost 2 hours to get fixed. On our second day there the housekeeping was lacking. They took our trash but did not put new liners in the trash cans. In fact we didn't get new liners the rest of our visit. On our last day there we came back to the room at about 5:30 PM and our room still hadn't been cleaned. And on our second night at 2 AM our smoke alarm started beeping like the battery was dying. I called the front desk, and after about 10 rings someone answered but I could barely hear what she was saying. After trying to decode her whispers over the phone I figured out she wanted me to push the button on it. Well after stumbling around in the dark to get a chair over to wall, trying not to wake my kids, I was able to push the button to make it stop. And finally it is nice that they provide breakfast. However, it was really lacking. There was milk, apple juice and coffee available to drink. Waffle irons with mix, bread, pastries and two cereal choices. Zero fruit, meat, or eggs. And everyday we were lucky if we had warm water for a shower. It was usually luke warm and would go cold very quickly. And this was regardless of when we showered. At 6 AM or 7 PM it was always the same.
The one thing this motel has going for it is the distance to universal and nearby restaurants. I recommend checking out K's Donuts next door, They have excellent donuts, breakfast sandwiches, and smoothies. And the staff was nice for the most part.
Also, be aware that the walls are paper thin you can hear everything. And the AC unit is really loud. The front desk called us our last night there at about 9:30 because we were supposedly being loud. We had just gotten back to our room from dinner about 20 minutes before. We all sat on the bed and called my husband and spoke to him for about 10 minutes then got ready for bed and laid down. We had been lying down for almost 5 minutes when they called us. So if you are upstairs be prepared to have the front desk call you about noise. Regardless of how quite you are or are trying to be. And the fact that the floor is tiled doesn't help the fact.
We will not be staying here in the future, and will spend the extra money for the Sheraton that is in the...
Read moreI stayed at the Nite Inn with family (6Adults, 2teens and 1child) 27-29June 2024. We requested 2 rooms (Deluxe 2 queen with sofa bed and an ADA accessible room for my daughter who was in a wheelchair). The 2Queen/sofa room was a good size and accommodated 3 adults and 2 teenagers. The ADA room was much, much smaller and took several attempts to get my daughter's wheelchair through the door. The ADA shower bench was broken and unable to fold up out of the way for others to use the shower effectively. The wooden bench slates were also broken. Thank goodness my daughter is able to stand for short times. I would not trust sitting my/any child, more or less an adult on that bench. Parking was a nightmare. Spaces are incredibly narrow. No ADA/Handicap parking. When we attempted to checkout at 715am a large SUV was parked directly in front of the ADA room (with another car behind it) and my daughter was unable to leave the room in her wheelchair. After several attempts of buzzing the office to see if they could help(which did not open until 730a) we finally called the number provided and a female employee came to move her car so my daughter could leave the room in her wheelchair. You read that right: The employee's vehicle was blocking the ADA room. If it was a random hotel occupant, I would assume they didn't realize it was a ADA room they parked directly in front of. An employee should know better. She was not apologetic but was visibly annoyed to move her car. When my daughter was finally able to exit the room and squeeze her wheelchair between the employes car and the large SUV, she put her car back in place re-blocking the room. If this room/parking layout does not scream Fire Hazard/Entrapment I don't know what else does! Nite Inn is definitely not ADA/Handicap friendly. Oh! And the "Complementary Morning Refreshments" consists of a coffee machine with various hot drink options, 1 flavor of mini donuts and 1 flavor of strudel removed from the packaging. (Why remove them from the package??) That's it. And let's not forget the sign on the tiny ice machine stating to ask an employee before getting ice. Yes, Nite Inn is "cheap" and close to the bus stop for Universal but that's...
Read moreThe hotel itself is a great spot for Universal, and we picked it due to the nearness and affordability for a group of 5 vs the larger Universal hotels nearby which required two rooms for occupancy.
However, one of the key things we needed as this was a one night stay was to store luggage while we went to the park in the morning. We called the hotel prior to booking, and messaged them after booking months later prior to our trip to ask about this. Both times we were told it was available if there was room, and on the phone they suggested to come down early. When checking in we again asked about luggage storage, and the night clerk let us know it shouldn't be a problem, but let the person in the morning know and they could tell us for sure.
To our surprise, when we went down in the morning for breakfast and to check out, for the first time after THREE conversations about luggage, they told us that it was unavailable until 930 or later, and that is the hotel policy. We had never been told that, despite asking about that over the phone, in email, and in person.
They informed us our only option was to book our room another night (which more than doubled our cost due to I imagine the last minute nature of it) or come back from Universal at 930 to see if there was space. At that point, we would have been better off in every way booking two rooms for our group at the Sheraton or Hilton for one night.
EDIT TO REPLY TO OWNER REVIEW
We knew that it was subject to availability. The issue is we were never once told it wasn't even possible until 930, when we specifically asked THREE times about luggage storage. Your staff even suggested we check out early to make sure there was room. And the first suggestion they made was to stay an extra night which gives the impression this isn't the first time this has happened.
Every other hotel near Universal offers luggage storage. Some with restrictions. Simply making sure we knew them would have saved us $300+ and not ruined our stay. You had three chances including in person for someone to have mentioned that before we checked in, but it was never revealed until after we had no choice but to add an extra night or ruin...
