Cross County Plaza — Attraction in West Palm Beach

Located in the Westgate neighborhood of Palm Beach, this shopping plaza was built in 1991. It started out as the Cross County Mall, a partially enclosed mall. Mall owner Owner Wespac Investments declared bankruptcy in the 90's and allowed the mall to deteriorate. A fire at the Builders Square in 1993 further led to the downfall of the mall resulting in it being purchased in September of 1997, demolished, and turned into the Cross County Plaza.

The plaza was purchased in 2014 by a Brooklyn based developer for 35 million dollars. At the time it had a AMC movie theater, Kmart, Winn-Dixie, and Radio Shack, all businesses long gone. In May of last year the owner was hit with a foreclosure suit for not paying the mortgage. The mall took a hard hit when many of the businesses were closed during the pandemic.

Today the shopping center has 350,000 square feet of retail space over 33 acres. There seems to be a lot of open spaces for rent giving the impression of being run down. The Big Lots has moved out but there is another discount retailer, Ollie's Bargain Outlet. For thrifters there is an American Thrift Store. Like the new thrift store American Thrift love Ragtags and Rainbow. Ross however disgusted me. I used to love shopping there. Went to get a shopping cart and the carts had garbage in them and all on the floor. There were 3 people standing around in Management as we walked in doing nothing. When we went to check out there were 7 employees along with the managers standing around having social hour. Customer Service very poor and...

The worst buffet, the place has a bad smell from the moment you enter, the napkins smell of old humidity, most of the food had a taste and smell of compost. They don't have much variety. Never take your family to this place. We paid almost $40 for two plates of fruit since it was the only thing we dared to consume. I don't understand how a place like this continues to operate.
