I was really excited to come here. Today was the first time. Unfortunately, it wasn't the experience I hoped for. It's already hard enough to go into a Native American store being white in this day and age especially when there's so much hate and resentment because of history, which was definitely evident in the contents of the store too.. No one was particularly friendly when we walked in, no greeting, no help, but I was just there to see what was here since I'd never been. We arrived around 5:35, knowing they closed at 6. Well, we got kicked out 10 minutes early before close, without even finishing a walkthrough and without the opportunity to buy anything. So after already feeling like I had to walk on eggshells and trying to be super respectful of my surroundings and the culture within strictly because of my race, being asked to leave 10 minutes before close was a bitter cherry on top.. I'm sure it wasn't really personal, but everything feels personal these days. Crystals were a good price, as well as a few other things, which is why I am even choosing a 2 star review, but I unfortunately won't be going back because my heart hurts now and I didn't feel welcome. Wouldn't really recommend visiting, but there was some cool historic items and useful things...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had such a great experience at the Trading Post! Derwin was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to help me find exactly what I was looking for. He not only guided me to the perfect crystal but also took the time to share detailed knowledge and stories about its properties, which made the purchase feel truly meaningful.
The store itself is clean, well-organized, and filled with so many beautiful, authentic products made by Native American artists and craftspeople. Itās clear they take pride in offering genuine items, which I really appreciate.
The only things Iād love to see improved are more clothing sizes (especially mediums!) and a wider variety of moccasins that are truly Indigenous-owned. While Minnetonka moccasins are nice, they arenāt necessarily Native-owned, and Iād love to support more authentic brands.
Additionally, it would be amazing if the store featured even more tribal artists from all overālike Dakota, Ojibwe, and other nations. Expanding the range of represented tribes would make the selection even more diverse and highlight the incredible artistry from across Native cultures.
Overall, itās a fantastic place to shop, and Iāll definitely be back. Highly recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love the Native American Trading Post in particular for their beads/seed beads and beading supplies. Their prices on tubes of seed beads are the cheapest I've seen in town and they have every color in the rainbow in stock. They also have very reasonably priced gem stones such as turquoise, onyx and lapis lazuli that can be bought by weight. If you're looking to be inspired the store is filled with beautiful pieces of art work as well. *Side note: Last time I was in there an elderly customer brought in a drum they had stretched the skin on themselves and they were showing it to the man who ran the gemstone area who then complimented the customer on the great job he had done and started playing it from behind the counter. The man got the biggest smile and became a little teary eyed and you could see the pride on his face and I felt like I got to witness a sweet little moment that made everyone's day. Sooo, yeah, check it out. TLDR; This place is...
