(Under my roommate's account) I just came back from the Nail Spa & Beyond, and I am truly disappointed. My friend who lives in the same apartment suggested I request Coco here because she went to her once and had a positive pedicure experience AND she's listed as one of their top (A1) nail technicians so I did. Never in my life have I not tipped but I felt totally disrespected to the point I did not leave a tip -- it's sad because I never like to be that person but the nail service I got was really not acceptable. You have to do your job with some care. The dip session (rainy weekday when it wasn't busy at all - so no "rush" excuse) started out fine, and I liked the nail technician at first (she was friendly and seemed nice. also, the spa is well kept, fairly clean, etc). Sadly, she kept cutting into the cuticle to the point that multiple fingers were clearly bleeding by the end of my service and one even had a good amount of skin scraped off the corner. I was trying to indicate to Coco that I was uncomfortable and made a direct gesture to a bloody finger after I saw the second one start to bleed (some of the skin was taken off too), but she laughed and said "just relax, relax." I've gotten my nails done many times before and the cuticles dont get cut like that... I was relaxed. I asked her if I could wash my hands and understandably she said no (because the gel top coat wasnt on yet), but then when she finished with the top coat she directly pressed some kind of disinfectant - placing the tip directly on my blood (rather than allowing me to wash my hands first) which is fairly unsanitary.. I asked twice what she put on the bloody cuticles, and she didn't answer - she just said "yeah". That is not hygienic at all... and she already blamed me for the fact that so many of my cuticiles were bleeding. Towards the end she asked to give me a quick shoulder massage (as they do with all customers) but by that point I felt so uncomfortable that I shook my head horizontally and said "that's okay" implying no. MShe proceeded to give me a quick shoulder massage anyway. There were other subtle aspects that made me uncomfortable... for example, she didn't tell me the shape I wanted was an extra $5 (I would absolutely paid more, but she should have told me! I wouldnt have cared if everything else went smoothly but it just added to the already unprofessional approach) I genuinely felt it would be immoral to give her my standard 20% cash tip by the time I was done; I hope the business sees my review and takes proper steps in the future. I'm not asking for any kind of reimbursement or anything of the kind from the business... but they lost a customer who would be a regular. Perhaps part of the treatment was because I looked shitty and just woke up after multiple 18 hour days at work... but I'm a professional who absolutely has the money to spend -- sadly, i'll just spend it elsewhere.
PS - here are just some of my fingers the day after the manicure... I didn't bother taking them all but Coco was very...

When you walk in, the place is beautiful inside and looks high-end but it is NOT - it is an assembly line and they want you in and out as quickly as possible ! Don't waste your hard-earned money on this place just because it looks nice and because it is located in Westfield. I paid $108 for a Dip Manicure (not even SNS), Regular Pedicure and a Man/Pedi for a 9 year old plus spent another $17 on the tip. Are you kidding me ?
My 9 year old's mani/pedi was $30, and she was done in 20 mins for both a mani/pedi. She was sitting at the dryer before my pedicure was even finished ! Paying $30 for a child is absolutely insane.
From the moment I walked in for my appointment, the nail technician was hovering over me and rushing me to pick a color, and it made me very uncomfortable. This alone infuriated me ... I was 10 mins early for my appointment, the place was completely empty so GO AWAY, get out of my damn space and let me pick my color in peace ! Then she was hovering over my child and rushing her too.
The regular pedicure is as basic as you can get so don't expect a foot scrub longer than 20 seconds or foot massage longer than the 5 minute TIMER, and the best part .... she only massaged the bottom 1 foot because the timer went off ! Really, a Timer ? That was a first ! She nicked my skin and made me bleed and just looked at me when she did it, no apology and didn't put anything on it to disinfect or stop the bleeding. My feet are so dry today and my heels are worse than they were before because the pedicure is so basic (and I am sure the products they use are the cheapest brand you can find on the market). Sure, you can pay "ala carte" for additional scrubs and spa pedicures, but their prices are ridiculous. The pedicure chairs have NO massage feature !
Now onto the manicure .....
I told the girl TWICE that the color was not the same as the swatch I picked out, and she insisted it was. Trust me, it was not - the color is so far off from the swatch, and I don't like it at all and I have orange/rust colored nails instead of a dark mauve! BEWARE - this place does NOT use SNS products for a dip powder manicure, they use a generic brand and they charge $40 for a GENERIC BRAND dip powder manicure. I have never paid more than $35 for an SNS manicure.
The final straw was while I was at the register checking out and in the process of leaving a tip in her envelope, she came over to hover again to see what I was leaving her for a tip and stared at me the entire time. Are you kidding me ? UNPROFESSIONAL !
Don't get fooled by the beauty of this place, it's an absolute joke ! The place was a ghost town on a Saturday afternoon - I...
Read morei came to nails spa pro and beyond for the first time for a soak off and a mani pedi. soak offs around this area have always left me with paper thin nails bc they don’t ever let them actually soak, they use the dremel to remove them completely. to my surprise, the soak off was perfect. my nails are still healthy and she didn’t nick my skin at all. when sitting at the pedicure station she gave me a service menu and i requested an 8 dollar callus remover. she said that doesn’t come with a massage and pointed to a 50 dollar pedicure to remove callus and came with massage. i decided hey why not it’s been a long week. ive never been more disappointed with a pedicure in my life and it was 55 dollars bc i chose a color with a $5 up charge. my feet literally soaked in the water for maybe 3 minutes, the entire pedicure. the callus remover did not sit on long enough (comparing to my other experiences) and much wasn’t coming off in the scrub. i work in the industry and i know how it goes. i went back to my nail station and tipped her 20 dollars so i didn’t ruin my nails trying to get the money out of my wallet. and that’s when she started taking her time, and making sure i was happy with the color and shape. you should never rush a new client. no matter what. i may look young but i’m 22 years old, i work 45+ hours a week as a hair stylist and i had to complete my hair and nails course in order to graduate cosmetology school. anyway, 4 days later (out of the salon i work at) and this is what my 90 dollar mani pedi looks like. such a shame, because i never mind paying top dollar for quality. the salon is super clean and well decorated. woman at the front desk was super nice. used this brand of polish at a salon in brooklyn and my pedi lasted an entire month without chipping. four days later and half of my polish is already gone. (pic of my hand but my feet look the same) if you’re paying to relax, come here. if you’re paying for quality, i would...
