My parents experienced what I can only describe as blatant racism today at this Home Depot. Theyâre in their 70âs, so perhaps a bit of ageism thrown in for good measure. They got up early to buy a grill and chose this location, as it is the closest one and the one we do business with all the time. They already bought the grill and only needed help putting it in the car. A young Caucasian male met them outside to give them the grill. Give them the grill, not help them with it to their car. So my parents in their seventies roll this grill to their car and find that it just barely doesnât fit, but it can if the grill is separated from the stand. My mom goes back and asks the same white male (sheâs estimates him to be 30) if he can please help them remove the bottom portion so they can put it in the car. My mom speaks English, both of my parents are legal citizensânot that that should matter. He takes a look at what sheâs talking about, doesnât say a single wordâturns around and walks away. My mom is a little confused by this and assumes heâs going to get some tools to help. He never came back! It became apparent because my mom waited for him until she realized he was not coming back. Iâd like to thank all the women on staff today 7/8/24 in the morning (thank you Gabriela & thank you Quenna) who were extremely kind and apologetic to my mother. One of them got out her tools and tried to help. They are better âmenâ than that âmanâ who didnât have the basic human decency to direct a word towards my mother and walked away. Conveniently he was on his lunch break so he couldnât come out and explain himself. The manager was in a meeting. My parents didnât get the manâs name unfortunately but told me that the cashiers and other people she spoke to were all women who were very very kind, helpful, and apologetic. Itâs 2024 and Iâm saddened that my parents are experiencing this sort of behavior in Whittier where Latinos make up such a large percentage of the community. Iâve never raised a fuss about anyone or been a âKarenâ but this isnât even behavior that falls under that category. It wasnât harmless it was benign, this guy is a disrespectful racist that showed my parents no dignity. My parents returned the grill. This man cost this Home Depot almost $200 in business. I ask you, managers/higher ups if what he makes as an employee plus the money he costs the business with his behavior is really worth the non-work he puts in at his job. Iâm beyond upset and would love to personally go in myself as a more Americanized non senior citizen and ask him whatâs up. However, I have the mind to know that maybe this is not...
Read moreI recently had the most appalling van rental experience at the Home Depot Store in Whittier, CA. On October 28, 2023, I arrived at 6:00 am to pick up a van I had booked a week in advance. The check-in process was swift, but the representative's lack of information was shocking. She merely conducted a brief walk-around to note dents and scratches, neglecting to cover critical details such as gas, insurance, or any operational instructions. I was handed the keys with a brisk "thanks," and that was it.
As I hit the road, the door between the cab and cargo area began slamming shut every time I stopped, due to a missing knob. This defect made the entire journey to Central California an acoustic nightmare. Despite attempting to minimize the noise with blaring music, the incessant slamming dominated the trip. The absence of time for a return or replacement forced me to endure the torment.
Upon returning the van at 7:00 am the following day, the service plummeted even further. The assistant handling returns appeared visibly annoyed when I rang the bell for assistance. Her response to my greeting was a stony silence. Handing her the keys to indicate the van return, she commenced typing without acknowledging my presence. After a polite nudge for acknowledgment, her dismissive and bothered response was profoundly unprofessional.
When I requested a manager, the process was met with visible reluctance from the assistant. The manager, Marcus, did listen attentively but failed to provide any apology, compensation, or even a hint of consideration for the malfunctioning van door or the dismal service. His lack of proactive resolution was disappointing, to say the least.
As I stood waiting, the assistant abruptly handed me a receipt without any information on the total charges or a simple gesture of gratitude for my patronage. The absence of any attempt to address my dissatisfaction was evident. It was an incredibly disheartening experience.
The van itself performed adequately aside from the door issue, but the abysmal service overshadows any positive aspect. I strongly advise steering clear of this Home Depot Store in Whittier for van rentals. This experience was beyond disappointing, and I cannot recommend...
Read moreRude store manager Daniel! This manager can care less what your problem is. My order was supposed to be ready last Friday but I got a notification saying it wouldnât be ready till Monday which was fine. Then Monday comes and they say not till Tuesday which is fine Tuesday comes still not ready. My account now says that the order is at the Whittier location as of 6/7 today is now 6/9 order still not ready. I understand things happen but this store has poor communication! And apparently ANYONE can be a store manager. I called in to guest services to see what was going on and my husband decided to take a trip to the store since our tracking number shows it was delivered to the Whittier store. I understand how shipping works Iâm I work in the freight department as well and my husband does as well. When the agent from customer service advised me to speak to a manager because she knew this was not right I spoke to Daniel the store manager who didnât want to hear my situation all she said was âyes, your husband was here earlier I already know what your calling for.â So rude and she completely disregarded me. The least she could have done was been understanding of the situation instead she kept blaming it on customer service that if I wanted discounts or anything they need to help me. My problem wasnât a discount, I just want to know when my fridge would arrive so I can plan the pick up accordingly. But again anyone can be a manager it doesnât take much customer service skills to get this job. All she kept telling me was she canât help me and MAYBE my order is Will be ready tomorrow.â When it has already been scanned into the Whittier Home Depot. I will be closing my card out soon and go...
