Tonight I attended a poetry reading (one of the first events I've attended since mt health has declined) and this is perhaps the best experience I have ever had. The ramp to enter the building was clear and easy to go down and the person working at the front desk made it clear where the elevator was. When we went to the actual reception and to sit down one of the employees asked if there was anything they could do to make the event more accessible. In my time working as an accessibility consultant I have never had someone come up and ask. I was so overjoyed I nearly cried. I felt less nervous asking of some seats could be moved further back so people couldn't walk behind me (a lot of people attended this evening so my PTSD symptoms flaired).

Read moreLast night I participated in Ulrich’s Art Dive. A great time was had by all. After making art together, we enjoyed gallery talks about two of their major exhibits — Abhidnya Ghuge and Justin Favela. Ghuge’s piece was a large, undulating chicken-wired form filled with paper plates that Ghuge dyed and printed with designs. Favela filled his room with piñatas depicting his life. Afterwards, we went to Kirby’s and discussed life as art students and the art we had just experienced. The next dive is October 30, 2025. Go see these shows. They’re incredible. The Ulrich is free and open late on Thursdays....
