Mattress and Furniture Liquidators — Attraction in Wilmington

To start my wife and I visited 5 different furniture stores over a 3 day period to find the right pieces and price. Once we decided on the pieces we decided to visit this establishment to purchase due to the salesmen claiming they will “work on lowering the price” and the claim that a shipment was coming in and they would have a ton of new inventory for us to look at.

On the day we went to purchase we were told the truck came and the “ton of new inventory” was in the back. We walked to the back and it looked exactly the same as it did the last two times we visited the store. A bit confused we asked and received a bunch of mumbled excuses and were shown one new item they had. Red flag #1

Deciding to look at couches each and every person that works there stated a different price for the couch we were looking at. One guy said $929, another said $1049, and yet another stated another price. Very odd but we pushed forward anyway. Red flag #2

We moved to a dresser and chest we wanted. Again we were instantly reassured “don’t worry about the price, we can lower it and work on the price”. We asked if the pieces were in stock and able to be delivered soon. One salesman said no, only the chest was in stock and we would have to wait for the dresser. We said that wouldn’t be a problem....until another salesman came and said “we have both of those in stock separate from the set and can get them to you Monday. He then insinuated that the other salesman was an idiot and not to worry. So now they don’t know how to check inventory and are insulting their own coworkers....Red flag #3

After all of that we decided to purchase the dresser and chest so we could have it Monday. Went to the office, salesman looked at the sticker price for each item and wrote it on the bill. He then calculates tax and delivery and gave me a final price....you may be thinking “what’s wrong with that?”....glad you asked, where was the discount (Military) I was promised and what happened to “working on the price”?

So I asked “What happened to working on the price”....I got a bewildered look from the salesman. He then started to explain that due to COVID he couldn’t lower the price. I expressed that it seems like a dishonest and shady business practice to constantly state that you will give me a better price and then seem to forget all of it once it comes time to pay. To that and after more convincing they offered 12% off of the price. The born haggler I am said “can you do 15%?” He went to the manager or owner or someone and came back and said sorry, I can’t do 15%. That’s fair, so I asked “what’s the price with the 12% discount?”....to which he replied 10%. Final and fourth red flag.

The manager then stepped in and began to explain that it is such a good price blah blah blah. A female employee told the salesman “you did say 12%” to which he again said 10%.

If you made it this far into the review congratulations. I know it’s a long one but it had to be put out there. We walked out and will never return. They lie, make excuses and do not have the best prices. We went to another establishment immediately after and found the same Ashley dresser and chest....for $250 cheaper without a discount. Just $250 cheaper as their base price. They were more professional, were strait with us stating the price is the price but I will match anyone. No shady tactics and no lies.

Avoid Mattress and Furniture liquidators at all costs. There are much better establishments out there.

The manager texted my wife asking what they can do to get us as customers. That they care about their customers and have no idea what happened (he was standing there the entire time). You know what you can do? 50% off lifetime for my family and friends, free delivery and a written apology for the lies and shady...

Moving to the area from SC and found this place riding around Wilmington from furniture store to furniture store! Claudia acknowledged me walking in the door and was by far the most personable person I had come in contact with that day! Frustrated and just over it she walked around the store, she listened to everything I told her I wanted and she showed me my options. I waited until my boyfriend got off work and we went back before closing to seal the deal with Claudia but she was not there so we spoke to the owner. No run around he had already spoke with Claudia and knew what we were there to see and what she had quoted me. He was super friendly as well. We were planning to pick up, but due to some set backs with our home I called Claudia right away to see if they could hold everything and deliver. With no hesitation she told me it would be no problem that they would do that for me. The day of delivery I called to add something to my order and once again Claudia came through for me. She added it to the truck! I can’t say enough about that sweet lady...she was heaven sent that day I walked in there. The delivery team ( Cesar & Gonzalo) were awesome even though they probably wanted to scream at me, they didn’t!!!! They fought getting my living room furniture through the front door, but not one complaint or rude comment! They smiled, laughed and joked about it! They put everything where I wanted it, unwrapped it all and made sure I was happy with it all. They even took the trash out with them!!!! Over all we were very satisfied with everything and will definitely be back in the future! Thanks again for all your help and great...

A few weeks ago I was about to move to a new place and knew i was going to need a new bed. I did a Google search and kept coming back to Mattress and Furniture Liquidators so I decided to go visit them after I got off work. I'm so glad I did. Eli greeted me and listened to what I thought I was looking for. To make sure I was getting what I would be happy with, he called his boss over to assist. Between the 2 of them I was able to find a mattress/platform set along with a head board and night stand. I actually went in looking for a twin bed because I thought my room would be too small for anything bigger. I had a picture of the room on my phone and showed it to them. They assured me a full size would work and guess what? It did and I still have room to move around. My only minor disappointment was that the brackets ordered for the platform were not the correct ones but I have to say that the delivery guys made it work. It may not look perfect but that's ok. Everyone from the boss down to the delivery guys made sure everything was to my satisfaction. The bed is super comfortable and they were able to work out an amazing deal for me.
