I've shopped at Smith's across the street for a little bit and recently I noticed a sign in the distance that read "GUNS." I had no idea there was a gun store in this area. What a hidden gem!
Last week, I decided to stop in.
To begin, Nevada Tactical is primarily a uniform store that helps outfit and customize apparel for law enforcement, fire department, security, etc. In addition to these services, they also have portion of the store dedicated to firearms and ammo.
They have a selection of some handguns, shotguns, and rifles. There are many firearm accessories here too, ranging from lights, optic sights, holsters, and more.
Visitors are able to shop the guns they currently display in-store. However, if you are looking for a specific firearm like I was, then they do offer a neat system where you can purchase off their website's catalog and have it shipped to the store to pick up.
They are a smaller mom & pop local business, so the store doesn't have a huge warehouse or thousands of store square footage to display guns. Thankfully, their website's catalog is very extensive and if you can't find what you want in store, you will likely find it on their website.
Some of the guns I was surprised to see available to purchase and shipped to their store were: Steyr Aug, full range of Heckler & Koch, Masterpiece Arms 30T... just a huge variety of manufacturers available. I ended up going for a Zastava ZPAP92.
In addition to be conveniently close by to me, I have found that their prices are actually very competitive. For example, for the firearm I purchased, it was around $100-200 cheaper than other stores or websites. When I checked other firearms, it was also the same case. If you purchase a firearm and pick up from their store, they also don't charge shipping, which makes the value even better!
From the time of my online purchase to the store calling me for pick up, it was a total of 5 business days. When I stopped by to confirm the gun, we also had to perform a (mandatory) background check. Everything was clear, so I was back to take the firearm home with me just 24 hours later.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ken, the owner, who helped me with pretty much every step of my purchase. I also met his wife and other family members, even granddaughter during my visits to the store. All of them are extremely helpful, polite, and I do like seeing a family-owned and operated establishment which is very rare nowadays.
In summary, for my next firearms, I will be returning. If anyone is shopping for firearms, I definitely suggest stopping by. If you are looking for something very specific, then I'd suggest checking their website first, calling in to check they don't already have it in-store, and seeing if you can buy it in-store or purchase online.
I did not use their main service of purchasing or customizing uniforms, but if it is as smooth as my firearm purchase experience, then I would recommend going to Nevada Tactical for your uniform and supply...
Read morePurchased a Century Catamount Fury on the internet b/c they had it a good price... Inquired about shipping to Carson City and rcvd delayed correspondence/email that from Ken that it would take about a week and half to rcv it from 'our' warehouse and then they would ship it out. I commented that when I purchased it, I was under the impression that they actually had it in stock (and was thinking that already 'Ken' was being less than truthful with me...'our' warehouse?? You expect me to believe that your small shop has it's own warehouse, that the gun is 'there' and that it is going to take a week and a half to rcv it from 'your' warehouse? Why not just tell me the truth, that you have to order it, don't have it in stock, and will keep me advised as it enters transit to your business....ie via tracking number?) Several days go by, I contact Ken about an status update, mention that his website no longer lists the gun I ordered, can only be found with additional search criteria, and the listing no says 'call for availability'...I mentioned that this doesn't seem to bode well for the order, conclude email asking for a refund. His delayed reply states that it will be in his shop the next day, that they will have no problems selling it and that a refund has been issued and will reflect in my account by next billing cycle. I email back that he has my money, I don't have product and want an immediate full refund... as of today, my account has still not been credited my monies... Conclusion: I do ALOT of inet commerce and this has been pretty much my only 'bad' experience... I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS...
