If I could give negative stars, I would! My 5 year old son has had good visits until the most recent one, from Oct 15-18. He has muscular dystrophy, and due to collagen issues, has trouble with ivs/ labs drawn. We repeatedly told the ER staff this, and that he has to have numbing meds and an ultrasound to find veins, but was ignored, while a guy with very shaky hands had my son pouring blood, on his shirt, and the bed sheets!! He was burning up with fever, had not eaten in a few days, and very weak and throwing up what little liquid left in him! We told the guy to stop (he said he was a doctor..scary) finally another female dr was able to get a usable iv. However, the shaky hands guy insisted on swabbing, quite roughly,..my sons nose, tho we told him he's already had Covid and is over it, and those results were at Brenners! Finally the ER nightmare was over, and we were taken upstairs. At 3 am, we were almost almost asleep, when a nurse informed us his test was shockingly negative, so we were made to leave that room at 3:30 am, and move to a different room up the hallway,..really? The second day was more tests, pretty normal day,..but on the next day, 2 giggling girls you would swear just came in from sneaking to a local bar, pretending to be nurses, came in saying that since my child's temp was high, they needed more labs for the culture..we asked if they were numbing the area, and they said no, and promised an easy stick,..but instead, proceded to 'fish' for a vein inside his already bruised, upper arm, while he screamed, and started vomiting..one nurse laughed and said she would sit on him, like she did another child earlier to make him take his meds,..um, my son had MD, was so weak and sick he couldn't even move..sooo FYI normal human beings don't "sit' on children!!! By then, I was furious and asked her to STOP!!! My 5 year old whined, "I don't like this" to which she laughed and told my son, "I don't care,..I don't care if you like me, I am about to go home"! I can't remember being so angry! For a hospital that claims to be about children and caring for them, this incident was absolutely pathetic to say the least!! The charge nurse called a dr from the picu who came and effortlessly got labs. But by then, my child was traumatized. He is now covered in black and blue bruises on both arms, and since he has MD, and has to have assistance raising up in bed, or from seated position, it's difficult to touch him, without hurting his arms! They are a sorry excuse for a hospital. I hope the ones who hurt my son, get reprimanded at the very least, but in all fairness, the dr teams were good tho, and the food was good for a hospital, and most of the other nurses were nice. I'm thankful he's better and back home safely, where no one is allowed to 'sit on' and poke needles in him while thinking its...
Read moreThis was the most traumatizing experience. Dr. Supraja Swamy should LOSE her medical license. I went in for severe vomiting and abdominal pain under my right rib. Earlier, my primary doctor and GI doctor was certain it was Gallbladder and I should go to the ER. I did so, it took FOUR HOURS for them to get an IV in for pain relief. Keep in mind, pain was 12/10 and vomiting. We got admitted and morning of, Dr. Swamy came in and told me “it’s anxiety and constipation. We cannot give her opioids because it will slow the system.” She refused to do any tests, she called psychology because “it was all in my head”. When I asked another doctor they said I had “moderate constipation”. I did a HIDA scan for gallbladder and it came back that it was not functioning. They said “we can only give you 600mg of Tylenol. Nothing else.” I requested to be discharged to go to Cone Health immediately for pain. As soon as I said that she said, “we can do an endoscopy, a clean out, and tests.” But she refused me all those things that morning. Do NOT go there if you want treatment. My nurse was AWFUL. I was vomiting bile and blood and all she said was “I’m on shift change.” And would not come help me. It’s DISGUSTING behavior from all staff. I ended up leaving, going to Cone health, getting PROPER pain management and gallbladder removal. Dr. Swamy wrote in my charts “came in for chronic depression, anxiety, and menstrual cramps.” That is disgusting. I mentioned none of the above, I’m not on my period, nor will I be for another month!! Worst doctor, worst hospital, do not go. I was out on the adolescence floor since I am over the age of 13, but under 17. It was traumatizing. Tylenol 600mg is not enough for even a headache. I had no constipation, no period, no anxiety, and no depression. So why is that in my chart?? And then when my mom and I asked to be discharged all the sudden they want to do all this JUST so they...
Read moreMy daughter is currently here. She was sent here by Lincolnton Hospital because Children's Levine is not accepting transfers at this time. The staff here do not listen to the parents. My daughter has blisters on her mouth and her mouth is bleeding. They are supposed to clean her mouth four times daily to prevent infection and promote healing. The nurse only cleaned her mouth twice. She is a heart patient so we have to be careful and ensure that she does not get an infection. They have not ran any tests since she has been here. They did some tests prior when she was at Lincoln Hospital prior to being transferred. They do not know what is wrong with her and keep coming up with possible scenarios. We haven't gotten any official diagnosis. They are discharging my daughter tomorrow with no diagnosis. My daughter will not drink her sippy cup because her lips hurt due to the blisters. If sent home she could become dehydrated. Then we will be taking her to Charlotte. When I got to the hospital the ticket thing had a note on it saying it was broken. When I left to get home toy other two children the lady at the gate would not allow me to leave until I paid $2.50 for parking. As if I'm not stressed enough due to my daughter being in the hospital. My husband is currently staying with our daughter there. As a parent I don't feel heard or valued here and my child will NEVER return here for care. This hospital is now in partnership with Atrium Health Children's Levine. I hope this review gets to Children's Levine because change needs to happen here. Children's Levine in Charlotte, NC treated us with the upmost support are respect when my daughter had her open heart surgery at two weeks old due to her heart defect. I wish this Hospital listened to parents. I will be glad when she leaves here.
Update: We now have a...
