I didn't realize how long it had been since we'd eaten at this great little spot (well over a year), but after lunch there today, it will not be nearly that long again. The place is no bigger, or quiter, the small tables are no farther apart, and they still don't take credit or debit cards, but the food items we like here are still outstanding, the portions are still more than enough, the service is still excellent, and the prices are still more than reasonable. Staying away this long is still foolish.
The Spaghetti with meat sauce ($7.25) is excellent and there is plenty of it - the flavor in the meat sauce is full & rich, thought the meat is just a touch light. The Garlic Bread is mild, and perfectly toasted. The Garden Salad (add for $2) is make special by the house made Blue Cheese Dressing (we bought some extra to take home (12 oz for $3.75).
The Gyro ($8.10 with FFs) remains one of my very favorites - in fact, here was the first time I'd tried a Gyro I really liked - before the meat was sliced too thin and/or it was dry & tasteless. The lamb and beef blend is perfectly spiced, perfectly cooked on a vertical pit, and the cubes of meat are tender, incredibly flavorful, and more than ample. The green peppers, onions, and tomatoes are fresh tasting, and also plentiful.
The house made Tzaziki Sauce is another one of the keys to the great taste of this gyro - it is thicker than most, and they add sour cream which adds texture, and a nice, light sourness. The Pita is really nice as well, though not made in house - it is commercially purchased from a specialty Greek food supplier. It is near perfect, and the combination of all these make this gyro near perfect, as well. The FFs are very good, but I don't know why I keep ordering them, I never seem to have room to eat many of them.

Read moreIt has been awhile since I was a patron here but I went today. I know times have changed and things must change as well. The food is still delivered hot as a coal from the stove I think that is where the good ends. Portions are 1/3 smaller for the same price and I get it, but the Chicken Parm I chose had the personality of wet copy paper. Neither of which would be Greek or Italian. I saw noe tion or view of the movie memorabilia that should be visible, but I didn't actually search for it either. The entrance felt tight but all of the physical is okay. The food however should be great and it isn't. Staff is fantastic from what I could see. They get 5 stars! All of them. The flavor of the food though; just empty. Maybe they had a bad day. I hope that is it because salt and a hint of pepper is okay on a camping trip in the middle of harsh 12 day ride terrain, but not ok within jogging distance of Harris Teeter. Herbs are easy to grow, dry, and freeze. K&W's went out of business for a reason. Grecian, y'all can do better. I'll come back one more time and update my review. You might want to do some taste testing. Also, tell theovie story where it can be seen. Why would you omit that? I'm rooting for you. I'll...
Read moreThis place needs to be a landmark. A business stays open for thirty-seven years. That says something about the quality of the kitchen.
My wife and I stopped because I had the hankering for some Greek food. I hadn't found a good Greek place since leaving Salt Lake City. Out there, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting one. Well, apparently, I've been missing out. Both me and my wife had the gyros. The gyro meat was done to perfection. It's the standard lamb and beef mixture and the flavor is wonderful. As good as my gyro was, oddly enough, the star of the show were my onion rings. They have to have been the absolute best onion rings I've eaten. The coating was both crispy and soft at the same time. The onions were cooked to perfection. I'd bite into a ring and a solid onion ring would melt in my mouth. I don't know how they did it, but I suspect magic.
Next to the food, is the service. The ladies all working that day were all gracious hostesses. They had ready smiles and quick wits. They were also knowledgeable about the food. It was obvious from talking to them, they enjoy the food they purvey.
This is a great little joint. I...
