Painting with a Twist — Attraction in Winter Haven

We went to paint a Bohemian Elephant. I have done A LOT of PWAT classes thankfully. This was one of the harder paintings that I have done. The instructor, Stephanie, only did instruction on putting on the black background and the background of the elephant head. That was about 30 minutes of the 3 hour class. After that, we were on our own. She painted ahead and when I told her that we couldn't keep up, she said that she had to paint ahead in case we needed help later on. She never told us which areas to paint in which order to keep the colors from mushing together and getting muddy. She did not tell us how to blend colors to get the proper colors. She told us to express ourselves and then was bragging to the other instructor, Dale, that she only worked with us for the first half hour. I loved my painting, but like I said, I have done a lot of these and used my knowledge from other classes. This was my boyfriend's second one, and he was so disappointed. My coworkers and I booked the 3 Witchy Gnomes event for a fun time of team building and decompression. Had a great time until the end. We were all patient as they completed the stencils, but by the end of our session it was all about painting faster because there was another class coming in soon. Personally I felt rushed and stressed over making a nice painting. A little more preparation would have made this particular experience much different. Also I think implementing a class level would forwarn people that are new to painting the level of difficulty. There was a lot of mixing paints and outlining small details that took up a lot of time. A friend and I have been coming here for a couple years now. We usually have a wonderful time. This is our go to place when we need to unwind from a hectic week. We decided to go today since its been a while. We did not have such a great time. The new owner/instructor was late getting the class started, it was 20 minutes after start time before we got all of our supplies and canvases. Then she rushed through the rest of the class.
