It was our first stay at the Beach Retreat. We drove from Cape Coral, and it took us about 2 hours via I-17. When we arrived, check-in was super easy through the drive up/ drive through check-in booth, and we easily navigated our way to the room with the help of the map the girl at the window gave us. Our cabana was cute and cozy, and very simple. It definitely didn't have any frills or luxury amenities within the room. It was quite a very small cabana though. The main entrance has the king size bed, one TV, no couch (just one hard back/bottomed chair), the one and only TV, a mini-fridge and a safe. The bathroom and kids 'room' is directly off of the main room/adult bedroom. We enjoyed the lego decor, but I think the kids rooms could and should have been bigger. The room felt a bit damp throughout our stay, but the bed was cozy enough. There appeared to be a blood stain on the inside/underside of our comforter, which I wasn't exactly thrilled about because it made the blanket appear to look unwashed. The bathroom doesn't have any counter space, so we had to keep most of our things on the nightstand. Between myself and 21 year old daughter, that's a whole lot of products! The pool was very enjoyable and fully staffed with lifeguards. Lots of lounge chairs available to enjoy and there was never a shortage. We spent a lot of time in the pool. My 6 year old son loved the playground right outside his door, which was a great touch. Breakfast (complimentary with your stay) was okay, my favorite thing being the french toast sticks and coffee. The breakfast potatoes were also pretty good, though I wish they were a bit more crispy. The bacon was so greasy I didn't eat any, but my family blotted theirs with napkins. It's not a buffet breakfast; rather, they bring everything to the table on sort of a big tray. If you want anything else they will accommodate you, and you just may want more as there really isn't much food on the tray to serve 3 adults and a child with an appetite like an adult. The to-go coffee you can go in and grab is really a great touch. The sandy area next to the pool for the kids to play in was great, and enjoyed by all the children. We purchased a smores kit online before our stay, and we were excited to use the fire pit to roast marshmallows and make smores - but there was one family who literally took up the entire evening gathered around the pit and nobody else could get in there to use it. I highly recommend they add additional fire pits for the smores event, because it's unfair to those who want to but can't due to others being selfish. So, we brought our kit home and will be using it with our own fire pit. The little table outside on the front porch of each cabana was perfect for eating dinner and relaxing while our little guy played. The resort is about 2 minutes from Legoland (directly across the street) back behind a Publix (which is super convenient) and some other stores. The surrounding area looks really run down; not quite the place you stick a nice resort, in my opinion, but once inside the resort the environment changes. I didn't like how there isn't a concierge desk, and there was no direct phone number to get ahold of anyone within the actual resort - just a 800 number that gives you either a busy tone and hangs up on you, or you sit on hold for a very long time before you can speak to someone who doesn't work directly in the resort. Overall, we had a great time during our stay and will definitely return in the future. Pricey, but worth it for the convenience, location to the park, and the enjoyment we had...
Read moreWe took a small vacation before school started with our two grandkids, girl (9) boy (5). For the price that included two tickets to Legoland, Peppy Pig and the Waterpark. And we stayed at the Beach Retreat. Legoland was awesome but be prepared all attractions are pretty far apart. We did a lot of walking, we have blisters to prove it. Got a souvenir cup for $24, it’s worth it. We got free refills for the two days at any drink station, even the restaurants. Lines weren’t to bad, not necessary for the fast pass. Waterpark is a water park at the back of the property. Clean with enough to keep the kids happy. No complementary towels at Waterpark though, must purchase. Peppy Pig my grandson loved it. A lot of rides he could do. Splash pad got closed the day we went due to weather. And they didn’t reopen it. We still a great time there.
Accommodations at Beach Retreat. The pros…There were a few things I can give the 5 starts on. The beds were awesome, plenty of pillows, little bungalows were cute and spacious, pull down shower head was GREAT! You don’t see that very often. Pool was nice. The cons… WiFi tv, kept going out every 30/40 seconds, be off 2/3 minutes, come back on then out again. No tv in kids area, thankful we had their IPads. Breakfast is no longer included. It says buffet but no, there is a buffet but you’re not allowed to it yourself. The waitress brings it to the table, a lot of waste in my opinion. Then they charged us $88 plus tip for four people for wet eggs, microwave bacon. Only plus was the fresh fruit. My granddaughter got sick (throwing up & back end issues) she threw up on one of the pathway roundabouts. NO ONE in maintenance spoke English so that we could let them know about the throw up. It was in front of someone’s little bungalow. Finally my husband went to the check-in booth and found someone who spoke English and they did get it cleaned up. Then my granddaughter had another other end exploitation, I mean it was unbelievable. So we had a mess on the wall, tub, toilet, toilet seat and the floor. My husband ran to either get some help or ask for cleaning supplies. Come to find out there is NO housekeeping on the property at night. And they couldn’t give us any chemicals to clean this horrible mess up. My husband told them they could walk the chemical down, watch us use them and take them back but NOOO! The guy gave my husband more towels, 18 round hotel soaps, a roll of trash bags and a truck washing brush. What the hell was that suppose to do. Thank goodness I had a pack of baby wipes, I cleaned everything up except the toilet seat. The retreat toilet seat has a lid, a kid seat and a regular seat and they all connect at the back. Every time I lifted or switched between more poop would appear. When my husband got back I was pissed with what management gave him. To get the rest of the poop off the toilet, we had to wrap all the towels around the bottom of the toilet on the floor and rinse with shower head, then bag up all the towels and sit them outside. It was a HORRIBLE mess with no help from staff!! I’m very disappointed. How can they not have a housekeeper on property or a manager that’s willing to help out. I wasn’t expecting them to clean it up at all. I just wanted some cleaning supplies so that the next guest would be affected by the mess.
Overall, cost was reasonable. Parks were fun. But staff could be a little more helpful when needed. I don’t think we’ll go back after this experience. I apologize anyone that has to stay...
Read moreWe booked the beach retreat for our son’s birthday trip & our first visit. We’ve lived in FL for 15+ years and have never visited Legoland before. We normally head to Disney often and go to the Halloween party yearly for our son’s birthday. This year he asked to go to Legoland so we did. We booked the room via military discount. The only option that was available for both of our days was the beach retreat. The people at the front gate check in were great and friendly. The staff was always friendly through our whole trip. The little Lego buildings were cute! However as soon as we opened the door we got a huge wiff of a mildew smell. It was pretty strong. We did run into some issues.
Bathroom: the bathtub had ants in it. There was hair on the wall and on the handheald shower head. Both were different hair. There was pee stain a on the toilet seat when you lift it up.
Kids room area: the bunk beds were dusty. Not the bed itself but the wooden parts of the bunk bed. You could see the dust and dirty stuff in the cracks . There were ants and bugs in the window . You can definitely tell this area does not get cleaned.
king bed: we were about to lay in bed when I noticed a piece of hair on my bed. My husband then found more hair. HOWEVER there was several types of hair on our bed. One of them definitely did not look like human hair. It was brown and white and the hair itself was very thick , like dog hair , definitely was not human hair. We ended up taking the blanket off and using the spare blanket . We found popcorn under the sheets as well which was gross .
The ac was super cold. However the filter itself was dirty. Upon looking the whole ac area was disgusting!! On day 2 my husband pointed out the seal to the door wasn’t even properly sealed and we could see outside. You can also see how filthy the walls are. I really wish I could post the video I have about the whole a/c area and the filth
The next morning my son woke up with bumps all over his legs going up his body. We ended up having to have him sleep in the bed with us the second night . The floors were filthy. We wore socks the whole time and laid towels down to walk around.
The breakfast was ok. We ended up going to McDonald’s the second day . The breakfast at the hotel had sausage that did not taste like sausage . The biscuits and gravy were cold when they got to our table however the service was great and everyone was friendly.
We will not stay here again. My husband was wanting to sleep in the car rather than staying in the hotel room due to how gross it was. We debated about leaving property and just going across the street to home 2 suites by Hilton but we didn’t want to spend another $500+ on two nights.
We will not be staying at this hotel again and we will not be recommending this hotel to anyone.
I get the hotel is in Florida and there are bugs and moisture in Florida. However this is pure disgust and neglect. I’ve lived in various parts of Florida over the last 20 years and my house and vents have never looked like this, not even on a...
