The land where The Park at Orwin Manor is located was almost sold to be developed in March of 1992. There were four vacant buildable lots and the Orwin Manor Association was lobbying for a park there when they went up for sale by Walter Rose's heirs. The Orwin Manor Association had asked for the land to be donated and was denied. The City of Winter Park bought the property for $160,000 on September 24, 1992 and together with numerous volunteers from Orwin Manor, built the city owned park dedicated on October 24, 1994.
