I know probably no store manager reads these reviews, as I don't see responses to various reviews. However, Managers at this branch should really do a better job in training the "self checkout" employees. Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon while my wife and I were checking out at the self check-out area my wife tried to pass by this young employee in search for an empty cardboard box when he suddenly raised both his arms away from his body with a wide gesture. Unfortunately, in one hand he had an open red sharpie and he painted a 12-13inch red line on my wife's brand new light-tan coat. Then he proceeded to tell my wife "Sorry, but you ran into my sharpie". That was a gross, blatant and completely childish refusal of responsibility, and also sounded like a pre-rehearsed excuse. Who does that kind of stuff in a full store with an open sharpie and with wide gestures like directing an orchestra? In a store full of people, like it was on 02/16 at 3pm, you are guaranteed to get somebody with that sharpie when you make wide gestures with your arms away from your body. I for one did not buy his excuse that it was a mistake... not for a second! He was hoping to get somebody. I'll attach here his initials painted on the receipt that he marked, maybe Management is interested in offering some training to this young man... doubtful though.

A smaller Costco but fairly new. Like others, you see a large quantity of relatively few items. Want a half pint of half n half, or a dozen eggs? Probably not find here. Cold beer? Not here. Great selection of high grade salmon and other seafood? Yes. Sushi? Yes High quality seaweed ? Yes. Delicious mangos? Yes again. Lots of TVs and supplements too. At least we don’t have to buy a bundle of two or three TV’s. The liquor section has a few local beers and surprised us with a Suntory Whiskey!

Do NOT use the self checkout line here. It is not faster, and its software system is annoying and dysfunctional. I only needed 3 items, so I didn't have a cart today. I go to the checkout, place my items on the side of the lane before the scanner. So far so good. I would like to put everything in a box for easier carrying, so I put the box on the OTHER side of the scanner. Apparently, that was a big mistake. The machine beeps at you and orders you to remove all items. Okay. I pick up the box. Generally, when I have been to checkout lines LITERALLY AT ANY OTHER GROCERY STORE, once you remove the offending item, it lets you proceed with your transaction. Nope, not here. It keeps beeping at me, telling me to remove all items but ALSO scan my card. I am a human woman with no extra functional appendages, so I HAVE to put my items somewhere. Since I can't set them down on the checkout lane, I put them in the box while looking in my purse for my card.

Now, had the Costco attendant been paying attention, she would have seen that I was trying to get the machine to stop beeping at me. She is a short woman with brown hair in an updo. At this point she snidely tells me to scan my card. That's literally what I was trying to do, but okay. I once again reach into my purse and scan my card. I proceed with the rest of my transaction. As I turn to leave, the attendant snaps at me for my receipt. This is odd, because I'm generally asked to provide my receipt before I exit. I give it to her, she marks it off, then once again in a rude tone tells me to keep it out so they can check it again. I give it to the woman at the exit, who frowns and comments that she's surprised it's already been marked off. Oh! Okay! So it WAS weird, and that attendant was being passive aggressive.

Not only are the self checkout machines here annoying, but if you have the misfortune of running across the short brunnette attendant, you're probably going to be treated like garbage if you make a mistake. A little kindness and politeness goes a long way, so I'm definitely going to avoid this Costco...

Subject: Official Complaint Regarding Employee Misconduct

Dear Costco Management,

I would like to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding the behavior of one of your store managers. Unfortunately, we witnessed completely unacceptable conduct from this individual, which not only contradicts the principles of customer service but also, in our opinion, violates visitors’ rights.

This employee, a young man wearing a Tiffany-colored T-shirt, acted in an extremely unprofessional, aggressive, and arrogant manner. He was unwilling to listen, refused to hear our arguments, and openly ignored the relevant legal provisions when they were pointed out to him. His behavior was particularly troubling due to his aggressive attitude towards women, which is entirely unacceptable in any workplace, especially in a company of Costco’s caliber.

What was most alarming, however, was that this employee unjustifiably prohibited entry to the store with a service animal, despite the fact that all necessary certifications were provided, and the animal was accompanied by a certified trainer. This is not only a blatant violation of customer service ethics but also a potential violation of the law, specifically the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which guarantees individuals with disabilities the right to access public spaces with their service animals.

When we attempted to learn this employee’s name, he refused to provide it and deliberately covered his name badge with his hand, raising even more concerns about his professional ethics and accountability.

We believe that such an individual not only tarnishes Costco’s reputation but also creates a hostile environment for customers, demonstrating blatant disrespect toward them. We urge store management to conduct an investigation into this incident and take appropriate action.

Please provide an official response regarding this matter. We trust that Costco upholds high standards of customer service and does not tolerate such behavior among...

To the guy checking membership cards to get into the store on Thursday May 23 2024 at 730pm

CHILL OUT MAN

Congrats - tonight you prevented the crime of the century!

I entered the store, clearly with another person who showed you the membership card to gain entrance to the pearly gates of Woodbury Costco.

However, for some reason, you thought I was committing the crime of the century by not showing you my card as well - when I was CLEARLY entering with someone that just showed you the membership card.

You singled me out. LITERALLY by screaming at me with your ā€œthere’s something wrong with meā€ voice. You literally startled the entire huge group of people entering the store at the same time as me. It was freakin obnoxious.

Even if I didn’t have a membership. And I do. It’s not like I could buy anything without having a membership card anyway. So - chill out man!

Note to Costco staff. While I appreciate and can understand why you hire ā€œchallengedā€ people. You should seriously, seriously reconsider letting this obnoxious person work the front door.

The day I ever thought I’d leave a review about someone like this with ā€œchallengesā€. But. My god. It was a sight to behold.

What a way to treat your customers with someone that obviously doesn’t have the skills to be a door greeter at Costco. I wouldn’t even recommend this person be a door greeter at Walmart.

The person I was shopping with tonight, after this incident, told me he has seen this employee do this to others in the past as well. Tonight I was his...
