I recently had a very disappointing experience at this hospital. If I was able to give 0 stars I really would. I felt compelled to share my thoughts because the treatment I received was not only unprofessional but also downright rude and racist. From the moment I arrived, the front desk staff seemed overwhelmed and uninterested in providing assistance. The security and the front desk were completely disrespectful and racist to us. Itās disheartening to encounter such dismissive attitudes when youāre already feeling vulnerable.During the visit, I overheard staff members making snide remarks about patients in the waiting area / the patients they have(including my grandpa). This kind of behavior is unacceptable in any healthcare setting. Patients deserve respect and compassion, especially when they are dealing with health issues. Instead, it felt like the staff were more focused on their own frustrations than on providing quality care. They seemed rushed and barely made eye contact while discussing my grandpa's condition. They had an excuse for everything and forcefully tried to make us do health related things like a tracheostomy that was not needed for the patient.Every patient on the ICU floor was forcefully told they need a tracheostomy an had it inserted. I felt as though my concerns were brushed aside, and when I asked questions, the responses were vague and condescending. Dr.Elizabeth has admitted to us that she intentionally took of the breathing tube out to "prove a point" risking the PATIENT'S LIFE ??? It was clear that there was no genuine interest in understanding the situation or addressing our needs. Overall, my experience at this hospital was left much to be desired. The rudeness displayed by both administrative and medical staff and the security guards created an environment that felt hostile rather than healing. Healthcare should be a place where patients feel safe and respected, but unfortunately, this was not the case during my visit. I hope management takes these issues seriously and implements changes to improve patient interactions in the future especially on the 7th floor the ICU.They left my paralyzed grandpa alone without providing him assistance there excuse is "they have only 1 respiratory staff for over 40 rooms". We have asked/requested to stay and take care of the patient and they would not allow us to remain in the room with the paralyzed patient who is unable to speak or talk for himself. Not to also mention they did not feed him for 2 days and they would not allow us to feed him ,the patient could of also died from starvation. The staff needs to be fired! I do NOT recommend going to this hospital as we nearly loss our grandpa multiple time due to the nonsense provided to us that they stated ("they took personal"). They would not of taken anything personal if they respected us and did not categorized us from the rest. Also, nearly every other room had a family member in the room sleeping overnight. We were just racially categorized. I would also like to mention since we left the hospital it has been a few days my grandpa's oxogen has been above 95 and has been better in our care rather then theres.... The patient is extremely scared to ever return back there. We had no choice but to discharge the patient alone and they would not tell us how the patient is supposed to eat, drink or tell us about the medication. If you learn anything in medical school it begins with RESPECT. The staff needs to be removed. If you value respectful treatment and compassionate care, I would recommend seeking services elsewhere.
The staff is listed below: (I do not have all the names as they did not provide names or even introduce them self with the patient). The hispanic lady that buzzes you in on the 7th floor is #1 the most PATHETIC one. All the charge nurses All the supervisors Dr.Elizabeth Catherine (nurse) Valerie (nurse) suzan ( nurse ) luis (supervisor) and plenty of more staff (the whole ICU floor nearly ) There was only 1-2 nurses who were polite and respectful. (I don't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy mom was transferred to Christ from South Suburban Hospital for a procedure. The nursing staff was horrible. The communication is very poor and they are unprofessional.
10/19/23 Nurse Ana did not communicate with family. I had to call Muliple times (3) to try and secure info re: the ERCP my mom was do to have. By the time she returned my call, it was time for my mom to have the procedure. I made it clear in my 2nd call that we wanted a family member present which is why I needed to know the time of the procedure.
I received a lot of misinformation. First, nothing had been scheduled for my mom, but minutes later, she will be having the procedure between 10am and 12pm. I never received a call from Ana to inform me that my mom's procedure was complete or any follow-up. I found out from a family friend who was visiting at the time, that my mom was scheduled to have surgery the next day. Still no follow-up from Ana. I called Ana and she confirmed that my mom was scheduled for surgery for 2:45pm. She indicated that my mom's gall bladder may have to be moved but the doctor won't know until he goes in. I later found out from the surgeon that the intent was always to remove the gall bladder.
10/20/23 Today in speaking with the surgeon Dr Thill, he indicated that the goal was to remove the gall bladder all the time. The new nurse (Dalia) called at 10:47am to confirm mom's surgery. She indicated that the time would be between 2 and 4pm. I informed her that I was told by Ana 2:45pm. She confirmed that it's between 2pm and 4pm. The same nurse called me at 1:05pm and stated that my mom had been taken into surgery. I inquired about the bad communication and she stated repeatedly that when a patient is alert and oriented times 4, usually the patient is only talked to. I questioned what mode of testing was implemented to determine that my mom was alert and oriented times 4. neither could Ashley (charge Nurse) or Dalia the Nurse tell me how this was determined. My mom stated she wasn't assessed.
Nurse (Dalia) was unable to say where my mom was taken for surgery. She suggested that I wait in her room until she's done with surgery. I told her that I prefer to go to the waiting room where she's having surgery and asked where should we go. She told me "they don't tell us where they take the patients". She told us to go to the main entrance and and the front desk should be able to tell us.
10/21/23 Arrived at the hospital at 2:41pm. While visiting mom Hannah came in to do vitals and asked me if I had any questions. A Transporter moved 3 chairs and the garbage into the bathroom and left without putting them back. My mom needed to use the bathroom, I had to move those things out in order for her to get to the toilet.
10/22/23 Same bedding and gown since she was admitted. I asked for clean sheets and a clean gown for my mom. I changed her bed and assisted her with washing up and putting on a clean gown. My mom soiled her bed and was laying on a mattress pad and with the same 2 sheets over her. They were aware of her soiling the bed because they gave her some underwear. My mother complained about Staff not checking in on her for hours and also them sleeping at night.
10/25/23 at 8:03am spoke with Kristen (Nurse Manager/7S) about mom's lack of care (no bed change or clean gown until Sunday 10/22/23 when I asked for clean sheets and a fresh gown for my mom and I changed the bed and assisted her in washing up and changing into a clean gown. Informed Kristen about the lack of communication with family regarding mom's health while in hospital. She maintained that if patient is alert and oriented times 4, the staff could choose to talk to mom and mom would be responsible for relating the info to us. I informed her that no one has been able to say how my mom was assessed to make this determination. She stated they usually ask a series of questions. I informed her that my mom stated she wasn't asked any questions and neither have any staff indicated that they actually conducted an assessment...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePer my original complaintl I never received a follow up from my 2024 complaint regarding being racially discriminated against, as well as the violation of HIPPA. I was informed that the civil rights team will contact me, that never happened. Iāve did my part and followed up by calling never received an answer( Iāve reached out to my cell phone company to obtain my call records of proof of me calling). I dont understand how you guys came to the conclusion of a retraining as the only necessary form of action for the triage nurses bad behavior. Then to only grant 15 days for a response to a letter I didnāt get until one yr later is crazy to me.
I finally received follow up letter response from my 2024 complaint in 2025 when I made an additional complaint, of my childās head being shaved during a surgical procedure that didnāt require her hair to be touched.
I am upset and my child is hurting because her hair is gone without explanation. Sheās traumatized from the anesthesiologist as well as the entire hospital. This is totally unacceptable.
I truly believe the staff was all in this together and tried to cover it up now that Iāve allowed the entire situation to process.
Per your hospital policy you have to be 18 and over to come to the post / Pre operation unit, the nurse went and got my 6yr old as well as my 9yr old without my consent when she was only directed to get my Summers clothes so she can change into them for discharge.
which she never did I went and got the clothes. The nurses (MOLLY) didnāt even ask my dad to come to the back she only wanted my kids and I believe she used that as a distraction for me because my attention was divided into 3 instead of one. In addition Summer needed to use the rest room I walked my child to the restroom the nurse accompanied us she even removed my daughters undergarments l asked if this was hospital policy she never answered and again I didnāt press that issue due to not being asked to leave I supervised the entire process.
I got Summer dressed and undressed from her procedure. I put the surgical cap on summers head prior to surgery, when I got Summer back from surgery it was removed from her head, I know it was due to your staff.
Summerās procedure was pushed back because I had to wait for my dad to get to the hospital to watch my other 2 daughters I was told she was the last case for the day.
Upon speaking with patient advocacy she informed me that the anesthesiologist had to leave to go start another case. Iām not sure how thatās possible when Summer was allegedly the last case. I was also told that someone from the surgeons office would be calling me for an earlier appointment because she wanted to see Summer sooner than whatās sheās scheduled for that never happened.
I came to the Hospital to obtain Operational surgical report as well as to speak with someone in person because again no one from the patient advocates office would answer the phone. I went to the information desk and asked for them to have someone come down they said they can only be reached by phone I told them Iāve been calling all morning no answer and I left a voicemail, I showed the staff my call log and they were mysteriously able to get through to someone from the office.
I vlogged Summers entire process I even informed your team that Summer as well as my other 2 daughters are hair models, Summer as never missing hair. I have proof of that as well as the whole day of surgery inside your facility.
Telling me that your team isnāt taking responsibility for the neglect is beyond me. I feel like itās their word against mine. However I have pictures and videos inside your hospital before summer went into surgery to prove the neglect.
I believe someone from your team accidentally shaved her head and tried to cover it up & did things to keep me distracted. This is unacceptable and I...
