If you're looking for a relaxed place near the airport, this is a safe bet. But it won't be clean, and they won't tend to any requests, nor provide you their advertised perks.
The problems I encountered were related to customer service. This Hilton won't tell you up front, but they don't service the rooms every day, nor even every other day. Ewww!
I love the "green model" of modern hotels that ask you to let them know if you want clean towels or sheets each day, so they can save water, etc. by not doing laundry if not necessary. But sometimes it IS necessary! This should be guest choice. NOT hotel choice.
Hilton, if you aren't servicing rooms until every 4th day, you need to post that as a warning ⚠️ everywhere you advertise your rooms. Neglect of sanitation in a hotel room is a subpar hotel experience at best. Nowhere near industry standard. Hiding the fact that your hotel cuts costs this way is dangerous for travelers for whom this is a priority. It is also false advertising.
As an experienced traveler, I expected bumps in the road, so I made sure to speak to the front desk on my way out after my first night, to express that I wanted housekeeping to visit while I was out. I needed clean towels and said that, too. The man at the desk said they would see if they could get me some clean towels. I found that an odd response to request for housekeeping to come to my room, but I left without inquiring further.
Upon getting to my room late that night, I saw there had been no visit to my room. There were no fresh towels. Our room service food containers from breakfast were never removed, so the food was still sitting in the room rotting away. How absolutely vile and disgusting.
For the record, most of the food is sitting here rotting because it tasted like dirty dish water, so I could only gag down about half of it before leaving it, after paying their mandatory 20% gratuity and delivery fee to bring it up here. I never expected to come back to my room and have it still sitting here over 12 hours later. 🤢 Seriously, Hilton???
I called the front desk after midnight to ask for fresh bath towels, because housekeeping is closed at this time (weird for any hotel in a major metro area, but especially one by an airport) and would you believe they had none?! They only had floor mats & hand towels. This could have been avoided if they provided housekeeping daily, as a standard practice. Why is it my job to chase after clean towels at your hotel, Hilton?
They should be provided DAILY. Unless explicitly stated otherwise by the guests.
Room cleaning also needs to occur DAILY. Empty the trash! Remove dirty towels! Make the beds and change sheets if necessary. If the guests indicate they don't want this, that would be the ONLY time it would make sense to skip these sanitation measures.
In my case, there is some weird sticky substance on the floor next to the bed by the phone. The side I chose to sleep on. I didn't know this and after showering I got into bed and my feet and sheets were all sticky with a black tarry substance. I was disgusted and confused after I had just showered, and went to the bathroom to rewash my feet with the towel and then got back in bed. I noticed the black sticky stuff on one of my feet again after returning to bed, and again got up to wash it off, this time checking the floor for what was getting on my feet. Right next to the bed is some disgusting stain on the carpet. 🤢
I placed the towel over the stain and left it there, intending to have housekeeping address it in the morning, but they never came. I even stopped at a housekeeping cart on my way out to discuss it, and was advised she wasn't assigned my room number. I saw her clipboard and list of rooms. She wasn't. Hence my stop at the front desk after that. What the man failed to tell me is, NO ONE WAS ASSIGNED TO MY ROOM. Housekeeping was never going to visit, even after I specifically requested it, TWICE, and they knew no one was going to come. They knew all along.
The Hilton experience has fallen into the gutter. Truly. This...
Read moreI was supposed to stay at the Hilton from 8/20-8/22 this was cut short because a gang of people jumped me. After running for my safety. I was told I had to leave by a security officer after returning two hours later or be detained. No one was outside my room when I arrived. When I approached my room door was open with the stopper holding it. As I entered my room it was ransacked! I immediately checked one of the purses I came with I was missing a smart watch, perfume, and several diamond pieces of jewelry, some clothing etc. I was alarmed that I was the one being asked to leave after the accident. I was also caught off guard that things were missing seeing that I assumed , I might've mistakenly placed items in other places in a rush to get to the pool.
5 minutes into checking my belongings after finding my room open, I was told I needed to leave the room or I would be detained. When I arrived at another hotel I noticed I was missing my iphones and other items. I found this strange seeing that I had both of my room keys with me,and did not bring much out with me, because I planned to swim after having a smoke outside.
I came for a funeral so imagine the dismay I felt when I discovered the missing things. I called the customer service as well as the hotel. I was told I would receive a callback in 24-48 it has been over 4 days.
While at the funeral service held in the event center the food was barely warm. Some of the food had not been sat under warmer as requested. You would expect that you would eat and talk among others during a buffet setting and be able to enjoy hot food. No, not at all the food was so cool you had to eat it immediately and the food was still cold once it was brought to the table to consume.
Several times while riding the elevator it passed my stop. At first I thought it was a mistake because you must swipe a key card to make the elevator work. I noticed the first time when I asked someone their floor to press be courteous. This happened several more times during my stay. I was sent to the eleven floor when I stayed on the first. I was brought to the second floor when I was getting off on the first. I had several occasions where I was put off/stopped on different floors when just leaving the lobby you would think the elevator would stop at floor one any time the stop is needed.
Beware of the internet and parking service. I have never stayed in a hotel at the Hilton that asks the consumer to pay for parking. I have actually never stayed anywhere that required this of their customers. I heard of it yet never opted to take that route for a stay somewhere. I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.
I ultimately prompted to stay downtown at on magnificent mile where safety was of a concern. The safety, theft , dying scenery and horrible food sealed the deal that, I would never recommend this...
Read moreThis hotel was part of a package (Flight, car, and hotel) through Priceline. 8-12-24 /8-17-24 When we checked in, the front desk advised us that there was a $75/ day deposit ( usually its like $150-$200 dep at most, for your entire stay) and you had to pay to park on their property $10 per day. I can't rate the breakfast because there was no free breakfast like you normally get from hotels. If you are not a Hilton Honors member you have to sign up to be a member to get free wi-fi. There are only 2 microwaves in the entire hotel for guests to use. A hotel with 12 floors and 8 to 10 rooms per floor. One in the lobby and one on the 12th floor, no microwaves in the rooms. Ice machines on even numbered floors, no big deal. When you get on the elevator which is right next to the front desk you have to swipe your room key to use the elevator to go up or down. When we got into the room (# 715) the shower had what appeared to be some moldy grout lines, the TV didn't work right, and the room was hot. They couldn't fix the TV so the next day, they gave us another room. Our new room (#806), the smoke alarm was going off. They had to replace it with a new one. It was also hot in this room but the maintenance guy was able to fix the thermostat so it could cool the room while he was there solving the smoke alarm issue. The shower in this room had even more moldy looking grout. It was also by the tub and in front of the toilet. The bathroom was VERY small. If you are using the facilities, you cannot close the door. The door had to be closed first. The bathroom door wouldn't actually close, we had to put the garbage can in front of it so it would stay closed while taking a shower. There were very outdated cabinets with water damage on the bottom edge. The room had two queen beds and not much more room to move around. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED that this was a Hilton brand hotel. I have stayed in some Motel 6's that were way better than this. The only reason we stayed there instead of switching hotels was because we booked thru Priceline and they would not refund the nights we didn't stay there. Otherwise, we would have left the first night. They have a restaurant in the hotel, however the prices were extremely high. For breakfast, I recommend you check out Flap Jacks right down the street. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel. I was also informed that I would not get credit for the nights I stayed here on my Hilton Honors account. I could understand not getting points due to so called discounted rate but not even a record on my account. As far as My Hilton Honors account shows I didn't even stay at a Hilton and I was there for 7 days. In my opinion, they are way over priced for the rooms they offer. Not to mention, you have to pay to park. The halls were clean, and the housekeepers we encountered were friendly. HOWEVER, I WILL NEVER...
