Amazing Experience with Hoi An Coconut Boat at Cam Thanh Coconut Village During my recent trip to Hoi An, I had the chance to experience the Hoi An Coconut Boat tour at Cam Thanh Coconut Village. It turned out to be one of the most memorable and exciting activities I did in Hoi An, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Discover the Natural Beauty of Cam Thanh Coconut Village Cam Thanh Coconut Village is located just 5 km from the heart of Hoi An, making it a convenient escape for anyone looking to enjoy nature. The lush coconut groves and tranquil waterways create a peaceful atmosphere that’s a stark contrast to the bustling ancient town. For nature lovers, this is the perfect spot to relax and unwind.

Unique Experience with the Hoi An Coconut Boat (Basket Boat) The highlight of this tour is the chance to ride in a coconut boat, also known as a basket boat. This traditional, round bamboo boat is a unique form of transportation used by local fishermen for centuries. At first, I was nervous about balancing in the boat, but the friendly guide quickly put me at ease, showing me how to paddle through the narrow canals with ease.

Drifting along the calm waters, surrounded by the towering coconut palms, was incredibly peaceful. One of the most entertaining moments was watching the boat spin in circles while the guide performed tricks—something I’d never seen before!

Why You Should Choose the Hoi An Coconut Boat Tour at Cam Thanh Coconut Village Beautiful Natural Setting: The coconut forest provides a stunning, serene environment where you can fully immerse yourself in nature.

Cultural Experience: Riding in a basket boat is not just a fun activity; it’s also a chance to learn about local culture and traditions. The guides share stories about the history of the village and the importance of the coconut trees to the local way of life.

Fun and Entertainment: Besides the peaceful boat ride, the tour includes lively performances where the boat spins to traditional music, which was a highlight for me.

Great for Photography: The picturesque scenery of coconut trees, waterways, and traditional boats offers plenty of opportunities for capturing beautiful photos.

Final Thoughts If you’re visiting Hoi An and looking for something different to do, I highly recommend the Hoi An Coconut Boat tour at Cam Thanh Coconut Village. It’s a unique blend of culture, adventure, and relaxation that offers something for everyone. From the breathtaking scenery to the fun basket boat experience, this is one activity that will leave you with unforgettable memories of your...

Back to Vietnam and Loving Every Bit of Cam Thanh Coconut Village

So, this July 2023, I finally got to go back to Vietnam, right? It's been ages since I left, and man, Cam Thanh Coconut Village in Hội An was my first stop. It’s like a little piece of heaven, I tell you.

The Boat Ride? Amazing!

First thing, the boat ride through the water coconut forest was out of this world. Imagine this: you're gliding through these narrow canals, green everywhere – it's super peaceful. After living in the city for so long, this was like a breath of fresh air.

Crafting with Coconut Leaves

Then, I got my hands dirty making stuff with coconut leaves. The locals, they’re real artists. I mean, I tried to keep up, but it's trickier than it looks! It was super cool to get a taste of the traditional side of things, you know?

The Food – Oh My God

And the food – I've missed Vietnamese food so much! Had some braised fish and bánh xèo. Just like how grandma used to make, really took me back. There's just something about the flavors here that you can't find anywhere else.

Organic Gardens Tour

I also checked out these organic gardens. It’s all about sustainable farming – really interesting stuff, especially since I’ve gotten into green living abroad. It’s great to see how they do it back home.

Photo Ops Everywhere

Of course, I took a ton of photos. The village is super photogenic – every corner is like a postcard. It was really something to be surrounded by all this natural beauty, made me realize how much I've missed Vietnam.

Wrap-Up

So, wrapping up, Cam Thanh isn’t just a tourist spot. It's a place where you reconnect with nature and, for me, my roots. The calmness, the friendly faces – it’s all so heartwarming. This trip? It's going right to the top of my favorite memories list. Vietnam, you've...

First, be aware of small roads around the location which is not very navigable by cars. We had to get off our grab early and walk the rest of the way (but only a few minutes)

There's a guy taking payments at the shore who speaks fluent English and is able to answer any questions about the tour, or sell you drinks/coffee. Then he introduces you to one of a roster of coconut boat drivers who speaks much less English but is still very friendly (ours was named Hai and he was lovely). There's parasol and straw hats and lifevests all on board.

The circular coconut boat takes technique to row without simply turning around in a circle. They'll get you to row too if you're interested (and willing - if you're lazy they won't force you). But before you go very far there's a duck feeding station and you see all the cute ducks and feed them out of your hand. Then, downriver you get pictures taken with those spiky coconuts (Nypa fruticans) by the riverside. They'll also show you how to make neat stuff out of the long coconut leaves, such as little flower crowns and grasshopper bracelets.

Right before you come back to shore they give you a little stick with a string with a piece of fish at the end. You dangle this among the debris at the dock and tiny crabs come out and grab the bait! You catch a few of these for fun and release them back into the wild.

All in all it was 100k dong per person and it was pretty enjoyable IMO. I asked the guy why the boats are circular and they said first it's easy to construct but also it's more manoeuvrable since you don't need to turn the boat to change directions. This allows navigation of narrower/crowded waterways and on the sea don't have to worry about orientating the vessel perpendicularly...

Cam Thanh water coconut village is one of the traditional villages in Hoi An that you must explore at least once in your life. Hoi An is not only gorgeous with the charming ancient town, Hoai River, mysterious My Son Sanctuary but also attractive with rich cultural villages. Cam Thanh water coconut village especially the Bay Mau water coconut forest is the ideal place for a great day in Hoi An. During the Vietnam war with the French in 1948 and Americans in 1966, Cam Thanh coconut village especially the Bay Mau water coconut forest was the strong shield, the revolutionary base to protect and rescue the people and soldiers of Hoi An, Vietnam. The local guerrilla forces have relied on the discreet terrain, easy to hide places to organize many unexpected battles, even when our forces are too thin and the enemy troops are numerous, but we still defeat the enemy. In the enemy’s raids, the enemy was equipped with modern weapons than us, had artillery and air force support but still could not make us lose the battle.
