Boutique Hoi An Review
Pros:
Very quiet and peaceful property with spacious, well-maintained grounds.
Exceptionally clean and well-kept rooms and common areas.
Fantastic location near the beach, restaurants, and bars. Tennis courts next door are privately bookable (not through the hotel) with a great local coach named Roger.
Housekeeping is quick, friendly, and efficient in fulfilling requests like ice, ironing boards, and laundry pick-up.
Exceptional laundry service—well-priced, quick, and clothes returned in perfect condition.
Front desk staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating for the majority of the trip, ensuring a smooth experience from check-in to taxi arrangements.
Great variety of outdoor seating options, including beach cabanas, lawn cabanas, and covered pool chairs.
Recently redone pool, beautifully designed and well-kept, with a large shallow area perfect for sunbathing and socializing.
Cons:
The gym is too small, poorly equipped, and lacks functioning air conditioning. Equipment includes an incomplete set of dumbbells, outdated yoga mats, and a single resistance band.
Food and beverage offerings need big improvement. We’d rate the F&B at the resort a 2/10. Cocktails are inconsistently made, draft beer systems are outdated and not properly refrigerated, and breakfast is repetitive and very mediocre (we opted out of breakfast several days and ordered delivery from a local cafe instead). Western dishes feel low-quality, while Vietnamese options are inconsistent.
King-size beds are paired with small, underwhelming pillows. More pillows were available however after request.
No music or atmosphere at the pool or beach bars.
Limited poolside service (no wait staff and no clearing of empty plates or cups) with inconsistent cocktail quality.
Lack of recreational activities like lawn games (cornhole, croquet) or indoor communal spaces.
Frosted glass saloon-style bathroom doors offer little privacy.
Bathroom toiletries need an upgrade (a four star hotel shouldn’t have a generic 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner), and the shower design with separate hot and cold taps makes adjusting the water temperature difficult.
Rooms lack USB outlets and have limited accessible power outlets. Additionally, the rooms didn’t provide any plug converters.
Pool and beach bar close too early at 6 PM, missing the opportunity for evening socializing.
front desk service, beyond check-in, was lacking. We visited during a pouring down rain typhoon and no staff ever came in or out to escort guests with an umbrella from taxis. Additionally, they were very resistant to lend umbrellas from the lobby, instead claiming “there are umbrellas in your room” which there were not, and either way we would have gotten wet getting to our room without the loan of an umbrella.
No visible management presence or engagement, even during breakfast service.
-front desk really dropped the ball with the check-out process. They became brusque and moody which made the previous days hospitality feel insincere.
Final Thoughts: While the property is peaceful, clean, and well-located, addressing these improvement areas would elevate the resort from "very good" to "excellent." Despite these concerns, I highly recommend this property and plan to return for...
Read moreMy family and I had a great trip in Vietnam Central starting from Phog Na and ended in HoiAn last Spring. We have stayed in this hotel for couple nights to round up our trip before heading home. The facility, location, the beach, the weather, all were so good, just perfect for an R&R. Reading to here, you might wonder why I have them 1 star? Well, I wish I could give them 1,5 instead if there were! After done checking in, first thing they asked if we were doing any tailoring in the old town with our guide. We said yes we did. Then they told us to return asap or it would be a scam. We thought they were local people than our guide, who had traveled with us for more than a week around, so we decided to cancel the order on making some suits in a local shop recommended by our guide. (I know, I was stupid to follow their words) The next day they kept coming over to me and my wife and talking about their tailor shop - Tuong tailor (I presumed so because they had the shop business cards over the reception). I’m quite amazed with their way of introducing, very convincing so I did go ahead with their recommendation with this Tuong tailor This was probably the worst decision in my life, because I trusted the hotel’s receptionist more than my guide. I ordered 3 suits made and my wife had some dresses. They promised they all will be done after 24 hours. We were glad because we had 3 nights total and we will be free from all after all. No, life was not that easy. By the time we did fitting, they were not fitted at all, even though they did measurements very carefully. Then we had the 2nd, the 3rd, the 4th fitting. All ended up disappointing. Seems like they had them all mass-produced and fix them per customer. Finally we had to take it home and they are not even fit. And we even lost all the time we supposed to have to Rest and relax in the facility.
I am hanging the suits over my bedroom to remind me once upon a time I was that stupid.
I decided to sink this already, however, today I am surfing the map to plan my next trip in Hoi An and this hotel just pops up and brings back “the” memories.
To wrap it up, this is a great hotel, but just don’t take staff’s recommendation...
Read moreThe resort is undeniably charming. It’s peaceful, surrounded by greenery, and right by the sea. Although it’s located a bit outside the city center, that actually adds to its relaxing vibe. The building is in fairly good condition, and the front desk staff were warm and welcoming from the very beginning. The gym is also a nice surprise — bright, clean, and overlooks the pool, which makes working out very pleasant.
However, several aspects of my stay were disappointing. The room was relatively clean, but housekeeping wasn’t properly done. Items I had clearly thrown away were left untouched, and the cleaning felt superficial. Despite asking the housekeeper to return later, she knocked on my door multiple times, which became frustrating.
Room service was also an issue. The staff didn’t speak English, and my order for a pork-free salad came with pork. I even received an omelet with anchovies. Miscommunication was constant, and the breakfast was unfortunately quite bland.
At the spa, I was charged an additional 200,000 VND on top of the listed price for a massage, not including taxes. When I asked for clarification, the manager spoke to me in a very aggressive tone over the phone, though she eventually offered a discount. I also had a gel manicure and pedicure, but the polish started chipping the very next day and my nails were already damaged.
I genuinely wanted to enjoy my stay and remain understanding, but too many things simply didn’t go well. Apart from the kind and helpful reception team, the rest of the experience left a lot...
