Let me tell you about this hidden gem I just found in Phu Quoc - Khem Beach. Forget the crowded shores and the hawkers trying to sell you everything under the sun. Khem Beach is pure, unadulterated tranquility. The sand is like sifted sugar under your feet, so soft it squishes between your toes with every step. The water? Crystal clear and calm, perfect for just bobbing around and watching the clouds drift by. It's shallow for a good stretch too, so ideal for families with little ones. Now, it's not all pristine beaches though. There aren't a ton of resorts or restaurants here, so if you're looking for a five-star experience with all the trimmings, this might not be your spot. But that's exactly what I loved about it! It felt a bit undiscovered, a place where you could truly relax and soak up the natural beauty. I did find a couple of cute little cafes serving fresh seafood right on the beach. I had the most delicious grilled fish and some cold noodles for lunch, and it felt like the perfect beachside meal. Overall, Khem Beach is for the traveler who craves peace and quiet. It's a place to unwind, listen to the waves, and maybe even have a little chat with some friendly locals. If you're looking for a slice of paradise off the beaten path, this beach definitely deserves a spot on your Phu Quoc itinerary.

It’s a beautiful beach, there are little to no boats. So no gasoline smell or rumbling engines. When we arrived a team of ~10 ‘landscape’ workers were cleaning the beach. A lot of people are complaining about garbage and plastic in the water, all bays and beaches on Phu Qouc are polluted. If you can’t handle this you better avoid the sea entirely. This beach stand out because they actively do something about it. We rented a sun-bed for 100K each. Don’t expect anything ‘extra’ to be free in this country. If you want extra, you pay extra it’s simple. There is a public toilet and showers at the end of the main square where the beach starts. This is one af the best beaches we found on the island. Don’t expect instagram perfection, be realistic. We had a lovely time at this beach.

Sadly I´m giving this place only a one-star rating because of the amount of trash, dirt, litter, and plastic coming in from the ocean. It´s terrible. I think that we are here in a bad, wrong season. The wind is blowing from the wrong side, maybe. There are lovely people, staff working on the beaches to take away all this horrible mess. Also, we have seen other tourists, and also me and my husband, helping the beach staff to collect plastic bags, bottles, and other stuff. This is a huge problem, so the government in Vietnam should take care of this once and for all and stop the companies or whoever is responsible for destroying the ocean. Why should tourists come here to a horrible dump and lay on sunbeds among trash and plastics? It´s disgusting. The pictures I have posted are from Sao Beach, the beach on the other side of the hill. But the beaches look almost the same with a lot of trash. The beaches are both disgusting dumps. Sorry 😞 to say. Check the wind and weather reports before coming here.

Seems like the whole of Phu Quoc is getting taken over by resorts and construction that causes pollution. You can access a part of Khem Beach that's not yet taken over by the resorts (yet, because this part of it is actually under construction and I expect in a year this "beautiful beach with lush surroundings" will be completely privatized), by going through a dirt road by the side of the war museum walls. If you see a fake soldier standing in a watch tower you're on the right track. Just keep going and following any signs you see for about 15 min. I'd advise not to try the road after rain as it gets flooded and very very muddy - our motorbike almost got stuck! The beach is beautiful...but also full of trash from the construction and sea. Pretty sad especially since I was expecting something well-kept and pristine like in Krabi or Tioman. My photo shows just the nice part, the trash is just right to the side.

Great beach and great day! 100% recomend! Went to the beach after a bit of research and was put off by people talking about the rubbish, however had been recommended this beach so gave it a go, our walk and entrance to the beach was typical picturesque and the beach itself was amazing just like the photos. As for the rubbish, when we arrived they had a squad of people walking up the beach clearing it to make sure it stays clean, yes they were collecting rubbish and there was some on the beach however they are doing a great job at keeping it clear. The rubbish they are collecting is not a khem beach issue it is a global rubbish in the ocean that Vietnam are actively tackling on this beach to keep it clean.

Beautiful beach. With white sand and clear warm sea. The beach had lots of palm tree for shade. There are a few restaurants and 1/2 hotels right on the seafront. I guess you pay for them to be there as they are expensive. I wasn’t staying at the hotel but was allow to have sun beds for free. Maybe you’ll have to pay or only for hotel guest when it’s busy. The sea is lovely and warm and clear. The shore is shallow for a long time before it deepens. The hotel had water sports which are only available for hotel guess. Didn’t see anyone else that who was open for any kind of water sports. Parking; free behind the restaurants. Definitely worth a visit to this beautiful beach.
