This hotel was a great pleasure to visit. We had spacious loft room 301.||A very hot room in the heat...but air conditioning is excellent and quickly cooled the room. The staff and manager are very friendly and were most obliging. ||The mattress was comfortable ...slightly firm at first.||Hotel patio has lovely views of the valley and imposing castle towering above. ||The 280 Lesser Kestrels that roost every night in the adjacent tall||cedar (?) tree exactly at sunset were extaordinarily entertaining to watch.||For seniors, due to town development access to the hotel was an uphill walk about 8 minutes from car park. Luckily, staff transferred our luggage and that was vital. Slight issues at nearest corner as steps were tricky to access and cobbled street was fairly steep. Bathroom was small, modern and perfect. Breakfast||was simple but good. Lovely traditional but new interior. Very calm and pleasant aura to the hotel whcih is...
Read moreThis smaller family run hotel has only a dozen or so rooms on 3 floors. Access is difficult at present while the town carpark is being redeveloped, and I do not think that disabled access would ever be feasible as the cobbled path to the side door is very steep, and there are only quite steep steps from the main road. However, for the able bodied, luggage is moved around by the hotel staff. Particularly pleasing is the small terrace with an amazing view to the castle towering above the town as well as two tall cypress trees which provide a roost for Lesser Kestrels. Even for the non-bird watcher, the sight of hundreds of the birds circling overhead and eventually coming in to roost before sunset is quite spectacular. The centre of the town is only a short walk away; ideal for dinner at one of the many fine restaurants. The aspect of the hotel facing away from the town ensures relative...
Read moreThe best part of this hotel is the friendliness of the owner and the willingness to please, but we can't overlook the smallness of our double room. We could not unpack our cases or both move around the room at the same time. A twin room is more spacious. There was no shelf in the bathroom for toiletries. In addition there was no bathroom cleaning and we had to ask 3 times for toilet paper. There is air conditioning but without a remote control which is a bit annoying at night.
Wifi did not work when it rained heavily one afternoon and kept us indoors. The hotel is traditional rather than modern and has no facilities. There is a new ugly car park outside which you have to pay for each time you leave and if you timed your departures badly you could pay for 2 x 24 hour periods in one day. It is an extremely short walk to the centre of old...
