So, as always, context is key. I am from the United States and hotels in Argentina (with the exception of major international chains) are not exactly what Americans are used to. In terms of location, this hotel is excellent. I always recommend that people visiting Buenos Aires stay in Palermo. The hotel location is perfect. The staff here are great, very kind and helpful. The hotel rooms themselves are very nice, modern and clean. There is a microwave, mini fridge and even a small cooktop. It has a modern, updated vibe that I love. In terms of Argentine hotels, this is my favorite hotel I’ve stayed at in Palermo. Now, some areas for improvement, but they in no way change my rating of “excellent”. First and foremost was the Wi-Fi. I was on the 8th floor and the Wi-Fi was terrible. I haven’t experience bad Wi-Fi in MANY. years, so this was really a challenge. I use my computer a lot and it was very frustrating to not have Wi-Fi. Yes, it exists, but it is VERY weak and I would lose connection constantly. Maybe it is better on different floors or different rooms, but I could not maintain a connection. I eventually gave up and just used my cell phone’s cellular data. Second, if you are in Buenos Aires when it is hot, the A/C units really do not cool the room sufficiently. At least, not to a temperature that is comfortable to most Americans. We Americans love our A/C. I was sweating, even with the A/C set to maximum going full blast. However, this is only an issue if you are here during hot periods. Once it cooled down, the A/C was perfectly sufficient. Third, the quality of the bedsheets was really not to my liking. If I were to stay here again (which I would), I would bring my own bedsheets and pillows with me. That is something I have never said or thought to do before. But the sheets, to me, felt really low quality and I didn’t like them. I have NEVER been critical of bedsheets before. Hahaha! But again, this is just based on my personal preference. My Argentine friends that visited me thought the bedding was very nice. So, context is important. For them, the bedding is nice. For me, I didn’t care for it. However, the bedding is VERY clean and it in no way diminished my enjoyment of the room. Overall, the hotel is very clean, great location, modern, newer construction…I really liked it. This is my new “go to” hotel in Palermo. I will definitely stay here again, just keeping the above-mentioned topics in mind. ...
Read moreOverall, we had a wonderful 11 night stay at Casa Joseph. Our room was appointed as advertised, comfortable and spacious. The staff were all friendly and very helpful in terms of recommendations and booking taxis and airport transfers. They did offer to help with other reservations, and while we did not need help with this, we are confident they would have provided great service. For those traveling from the US, keep in mind Casa Joseph is a new apartment style building constructed for the purpose of renting out the rooms, but it is run just like a hotel. The key card security and 24 hour front desk attendant made us feel more secure than a lot of traditional hotels where we've stayed. The location is also great with access to plenty of great dining, nightlife and shopping in Palermo along with easy access to get across town to the parks and main tourist attractions. We took cabs almost everywhere we went for about $3-$4 USD and had no problem seeing Belgrano, Recoleta, San Telmo, Puerto Madero, Retiro, Monserrat and everything in between as much as we needed/wanted. Keep in mind that we flew in and out of Buenos Aires and wanted to see Buenos Aires, do a 3 night trip to Mendoza, and a 1 night trip to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. For our trip, Casa Joseph was perfect because it balanced cost, location and comfort in a way that allowed us to create a home base in Buenos Aires and come and go as we pleased while avoiding the hassle of taking all our luggage with us on our excursions and multiple check ins & outs each time we hit Buenos Aires. We highly recommend staying at Casa Joseph.
There were some noise issues but nothing excessive. The pillows also were not so comfortable. WIFI was spotty, and we would have preferred the mattress had a fitted sheet covering it rather than a flat one. All of this is very small stuff to dislike, but if you are looking for a hotel dripping in luxury or to spend a lot of time in your room with lots of amenities, then Casa Joseph is probably not for you.
You should note that payment is accepted in cash on the day you check in. There is a very good exchange at Thames 2426 b/w Guemes & Santa Fe in the back of the Western...
Read morePrime location for Palermo - Soho, very close to plenty of trendy restaurants and bars. Walking distance to the Botanical Gardens and Plaza Serrano for the weekend market. It is also walking distance Plaza de Mayo, San Telmo, Recoleta etc although you are looking at about 1h (nice) walk. Also really close to several gyms that offer daily and weekly passes so you are covered all angles staying here. The day reception staff was fabulous, really attentive and helpful. Upon check in you receive a whatsapp text with all sorts of super helpful info about the hotel and the area. During the late/night shift there is a lady that does not seem too bothered to even say hello. The facilities are generally good, the room has a very good size, the bathroom is on the smaller side though. Although the room is decent there are a couple of points I found somewhat let down the whole experience: Cleanliness was not up to a high standard. The windows were dirty, the floors were not properly mopped, the kitchenette needed a little bit of an extra effort. Pillows: only two for a superking bed and they were not feather pillows which made them very flat and somewhat uncomfortable to sleep on. The fan in the bathroom is super, super, noisy and it goes on as long as you turn the light on. It was so disturbing to the point I did have to brush my teeth and go to the toilet with the light off.
There is also a pool on the roof top which looked very nice, however I did not get the chance to use it.
Overall it was a good stay, however with a couple of issues that could be easily rectified in order to make...
