Firstly - it's a confusing situation when you arrive. The Hostel (marked but with a locked door & apparently "nobody home") is across the road from the main part of the operation - which is completely unmarked. If you arrive in the dark, as we did, it's a bit of a circus to find out where you're supposed to go. We booked an apartment with a/c, electric kettle, cable tv, and a terrace. We were taken round the road & to the next block into an apartment building where the apartment had no a/c (heater that didn't work), gas stove to boil water for tea (no kettle), tv with two Spanish channels (but no cable tv), and no terrace. The bathroom was pretty terrible - cramped, shower over the bath with pretty mouldy curtain & a bidet that was very stained & leaked. The shower over the bath couldn't be completely shut off, so it dripped water all night (I guess that's why I take earplugs on every trip). We made the best of it but I was very disappointed. I had been in email communication with them the week prior, & wasn't warned that we wouldn't be getting what we paid for. There was nowhere/no-one in the building where you could go for help with information or tourist guidance...
Read moreWe had a very comfortable stay here.
There is a fan and air-conditioning in our room, so it was not stuffy. We also appreciated having lots of shelf space to put our belongings. Wifi worked fine from the rooms too.
The shared bathrooms were kept clean throughout. There were four shared bathrooms over two floors, so we never really had to wait to use one.
There is also a small shared kitchen, with space for two to sit at any one time. The utensils and equipment in the kitchen have definitely seen better days, but we had no issues preparing simple meals here (you will need to get your own cooking oil and condiments).
Decent location near the San Telmo market, with lots of shops and restaurants around. It was easy to walk to the nearest Subte station (Independencia), as well as other nearby places of interest such as Plaza de Mayo and Puerto Madero.
The reception hours are from 1-6pm, but we had no issues communicating with the staff via WhatsApp outside of that time. They also kindly allowed us to store our backpacks for a small fee when we left Buenos Aires for a short 3-day trip to the...
Read moreAfter a small culture shock after arrival from Europe to Buenos Aires I found this hostel quite picturesque. There are no huge common places for the hostel stayers but the silence in your own room is relaxing after long flights. The room is small but comfortable. The air conditioning wasn't on when I entered the room and I didn't dare to ask for it from the reception for the fear I couldn't change the settings myself if it was too cold or loud. I could open the window to the street, though. It didn't help too much cause it was summertime. I guess, the winter season must be very cold in this room. The street noise did enter the room easily but it was new and interesting to me. Common balcons were lovely for spotting the street life underneath. Shared bathrooms were clean and nice. Breakfast was very basic but ok. There were restaurants and shops and a local market hall closeby for more food. Also public transportation was within reach, and the Florida shopping street, too, within a reasonable walking distance. No hard feelings after 3...
