Characterful Boutique in San Telmo
Housed in a beautifully restored historic mansion that once belonged to tango musician Anselmo Aieta, this boutique hotel truly captures the essence of San Telmo, and perfectly balances modern luxury with historic charm. The architecture and décor pay homage to the building's artistic heritage while offering contemporary comfort.
LOCATION:The location is absolutely perfect for exploring Buenos Aires' oldest neighborhood. Sitting right on Plaza Dorrego, in the heart of San Telmo's famous antique market, street performers, and tango shows. The Sunday market literally happens right outside the hotel doors. You can easily walk to many major attractions, including Casa Rosada and Puerto Madero. The only slight downside of the location is that some might find the area a bit too lively on market days, but I personally loved the vibrant atmosphere.
DINE + DRINK: The hotel's restaurant, Café Anselmo, serves decent breakfast with both continental and local options. While the breakfast spread isn't extensive, the quality is good, especially the fresh pastries and strong coffee. The bar makes excellent cocktails, though the menu is somewhat limited. For better dining options, I found myself exploring the numerous fantastic restaurants and cafes in the surrounding neighborhood.

Read moreAvoid at all cost! I would highly recommend not staying at this hotel unless you want your personal item stolen and management to do absolutely nothing about it. I stayed here and left in the morning for an all day excursion, when I returned. My item was missing from the counter where I left it. I immediately went to front desk to inquire who cleaned my room as I was 150% sure where I left it that morning. A male employee asked the cleaner who claimed all she saw on the counter was my toiletries bag (which was in my suitcase so if she can describe it that means she was in my suitcase but that’s besides the point). After i pointed out that my toiletries bag was never on the counter, the same male employee came up to my room to search my room and bags to ensure that I wasn’t hiding it while stating it was taken. He found nothing. I was then told they will check the cameras. The cameras showed I left my room in the morning, the cleaner was the only other person to come to my room and then I came back at night. The cameras don’t show inside the rooms. So there’s no way they could see if she removed my item (which was small enough to put in a pocket) but according to the manager, this is sufficient to prove she did not take it. The manager then Informed me that the cleaner said she did not see it. Besides she’s asked her to search her trash. If she took an item of value from me, why on earth it would be in the trash is beyond me. I even informed them of the great personal value it has to me and asked that she simply return it. All in all, they did absolutely nothing to get this employee to return my item, instead telling me that she’s been there for years and if she said she didn’t see it and the camera (which again doesn’t show the inside of the room but showed this woman going into my room) doesn’t show her taking it, then she did not take it. I tried emailing about this and was ignored. All these to say, avoid this hotel unless you want to be...
Read moreThe staff at the Anselmo Buenos Aires is one of absolute excellence--from the moment that you walk into the hotel until the moment you leave. And should you have a problem, they will go over and above to help you! Location cannot be beat either if you want to go to the San Telmo Market as it is outside your door! But, back to the staff...Bruno is what every hotel would hope their employees would be. From the moment we walked into the hotel and he greeted us with joy, warmth, and humor to our other interactions during our stay, to the moment we realized after checking out that my passport had gone missing, Bruno was over-the-top, excelling in every way, and taking care of us. The compassion that he and other staff members showed with my passport situation was something Hilton should be proud of and use as an example in their training. He went above and beyond in researching and looking up info for me on what I would need to do through the U.S. Embassy, etc. I simply cannot thank Bruno enough, as well as Victoria, who was equally kind and helpful. Victoria called the police and arranged that meeting for me as well as directing me to the local station that I would need to visit to file my report. And, then there was Antonio, the hotel doorman who is the kindest, sweetest, most generous and helpful gentleman you will ever encounter. In the end, my passport was found! And they were just as happy about it as me! The staff at this hotel, whether in normal, daily interactions with guests or in times of emergency with guests, is simply one of service excellence that every hotel property in the world should strive for and that every hotel guest wishes they encountered wherever they may go. So many thanks to all of them and you can guarantee that this hotel will be my home whenever I am in...
