We stayed here for nearly 3 weeks, booking through our agent who always sorts our flights. On arrival we were told they would use the card provided for our bond to pay for the stay. The hotel had been paid for in December! That sent us into panic mode ( we are a retired couple in our 60s) and they insisted we hadn't paid. I contacted our agent who assured me it had been paid and he contacted the hotel. 3 days later reception confirmed this was the case. No apologies for a very unsettled couple of days. When we checked out, they tried it on again saying we owed for the upgrade to a sea view room. I quickly corrected him and he backed down. The hotel itself: A lovely sea view room with a balcony in a modern looking, spacious hotel. Good standard of cleanliness though I hadn't realised our room would only be serviced once a week. No info provided re changing the towels etc. When I asked at reception I was told I could bring them there and they would give me clean ones. This I did although there were questioning looks and my damp towels were handled as if they might catch something! We had no clothes airer although other rooms had, so difficult drying clothes as the balcony was not always wind free. The tv in the bedroom didn't work but that wasn't a bother to us. There was no extractor fan ( or if there was it didn't work) in the window less bathroom. There needed a handrail to help anyone climb in and out of the bath to shower. The shower was good. Good temperature control and power. The toilet had an annoying habit of continuing running when it was flushed and needed the button pushing each time to stop the flow of water from the cistern. The bed was comfortable. The kitchen was adequate for tea and coffee making and washing clothes but not intended for cooking meals. One saucepan and no oven tray. No plug in the sink for washing up although it had a dishwasher which I thought unnecessary. The fridge, washing machine and microwave were of good quality. The balcony was lovely but a shame that smoking was allowed on adjourning balconies. We found several cigarette butts on ours and there was often a smell of cigarette smoke. We booked our daughter, husband and child in for a week asking for a child's bed at the time of booking. This was not provided as they said it hadn't been booked and would be $20 a night extra. The receptionist arranged for it to be put in the room the following day. It never materialised and the grandson slept on the sofa. The rooms and hotel were quiet considering the number of rooms and the functions happening. We were not disturbed by noise from other guests. The corridors and lifts were clean. The lifts advertised stay and have a lazy day on a Sunday and stay til 5.00. This would have suited us ideally as our flight got wasn't til 10.00 at night, but was not an option. The pool, which was small was very cold and certainly not child friendly. The bar and restaurant areas were good and the food in the Thai restaurant was excellent. We had breakfast on our last morning and we were pleased we hadn't ventured there before. The internet was appalling although free when you could access it. The restaurant staff and bar staff were helpful and friendly. Some of the female reception staff lacked personal skills. When we first arrived and seeing the hotel through rose coloured glasses, I emailed them asking for rates should we return for 7 weeks in 2018. I received an automated response telling me they would get back to me within 2 working days. I have yet to hear from them! I hadn't realised that most of the apartments are privately owned and that the Oaks manages them and pays a set rate to the owners. I wouldn't return which is a shame as it is in a perfect location close to all the amenities that lovely Glenelg...
Read moreI would not come here again. As a bride we made a few requests such as keep my family all on the same level something we organised 6 months ago, not during peak time so it should have been organised however we had several members on deifferent levels. I was here a couple months for a friends hens weekend and I noticed the windows were dirty and so I wanted to make sure when I stayed here for my wedding day that it will be clean. We had requested this to be done. Not only were there dirty windows, the room was not even close to clean. There were marks on walls, blue tack on walls, toilet paper on the wall. We called reception to let them know I wasn’t happy with how the room looked. I was especially fussy because I had photographers coming in and I wanted to make sure it was perfect for photos. Once reception knew they had to come in to view the room. They said of course it won’t be perfect. They were only little things. We asked for another room and we could tel they didn’t want to do that for us. They kept saying we can’t do this, we can’t do that. So they tried offering a “better room” only to find out it was on a lower level and a lot smaller. We were on the 7th level because we paid for ocean view so when they tried offering that room I felt disgusted by their service. Not only were they rude about our request there was not one person who made me feel like I was heard and they weren’t sorry. We asked for the windows to be cleaned and they offered to get some windex and they may be able to clean it. We knew they should have a Housman in which they said no we don’t. After being firm and saying they should have one they said ok we can get them to come in the morning. I was laughing. I could not believe this. I said no way the morning is going to be so busy I do not want cleaners in the room we want it to be done tonight. We had a cleaner clean the windows one hour later. So not only were they lying about what they could and couldn’t do the way they treated me was horrible. We ended up in our room because the rooms they kept offering were not even close to changing what we paid for. After all of this I use the toilet and it doesn’t flush so we call them. They must know which room is calling because they answered so rudely and just said yeah. What kind of service do you call this?? I had a wedding the next day so I tried not to stress too much. After all of this there was no complimentary nothing. Nothing at all not even a check up to see how we were going. All the workers working that day on July 27 shouldn’t be there. They don’t know how to offer proper customer service. So rude and I would not stay here ever again or...

We have stayed in a two-bedroom sea view apartment for a week. It's the worst accommodation that we have stayed in for many years.
The only good thing about is that you have an uninterrupted view of the sea (as it should because it is a sea view apartment) but that's the only positive.
For the rest I can only mention a lot of negatives.
You can see that it is a cheaply built hotel.
The fly screen door falls out of its rails and is unusable.
The door to the balcony is not sealed off correctly so the wind howls through it.
The windows are single glazing so they radiate a lot of heat or cold (depending on the season).
The bedrooms are small and there is no space to put your clothes. There is not a single hook in the wall to hang some clothes either.
There were only seven cloth hangers (for four people!)
The television in the main room is small for this day and age. It might have been OK 20 years ago, but not now.
There is no television in the main bedroom.
There is no spot to hang your bathers to dry. You would expect that to be on the balcony or in one of the bathrooms.
The shower screen looks very cheap and old. Same for the taps and the shower head.
There is no housekeeping for the whole week and not even clean towels are provided. You have to ask for it every time you'd like to have some.
The kitchen is missing lots of cups, glasses, plates, knives, forks, etc. Apparently when something is broken it is not automatically being replaced. That is something that housekeeping should do before new guests move in. There are no steak knives, no knife to peel fruit. Lots of other things that you need when preparing a meal are missing.
You only get one dishwashing tablet and no rinse aid.
There is no broom nor anything else to clean the kitchen floor.
The dining table only had two chairs. You would expect it to have four chairs since it is a two-bedroom apartment. We could use the one chair that is at the desk, but then you still miss one chair.
You have to pay for garage parking, which I think should be included in the price. The price level definitely allows for that.
The garage is not secure. There is only a gate at the car entry but people have free access to the parking from the promenade.
There is no pen and paper on the desk, which you would expect in hotel with this price level.
I could easily add more to the list, but I think that it is long enough to show that it is a substandard hotel.
For the price they charge per night you expect something...
