Unfortunately, this venue, which holds significant potential, has been a letdown in several aspects.

I ordered takeout directly from the venue, not through Uber Eats, and each time the order was incorrect. Sauces for meals were frequently forgotten, even after confirming with the staff multiple times. When I raised the issue, I was met with attitude and told the sauces were included, even though I had to unpack the entire bag to check.

The staff's professionalism (no clear uniform or grooming standards as-well as other things) is seriously lacking and they require significant training. This issue isn’t limited to the younger employees, but extends to all levels, as some staff members seem disinterested and make you feel like an inconvenience when asking them to do their job. The manager, Jana, is particularly rude to both staff and patrons, trying to assert dominance in an unprofessional manner.

Additionally, we faced issues with the bar service. There was no organisation, with large tables being served to order meals at all three tills despite clear signage indicating where meal orders should be placed. Bartenders were not staying at their area & jumping around resulting in disorganised service. On two separate occasions, we waited over 20 minutes without an apology, and bartenders failed to acknowledge our wait before walking away to attend to other tasks. I know all venues down Glenelg are busy with the nice weather but been to plenty other venues busier than this & they have systems in place with work and easy to follow for staff & patrons.

Unfortunately the buisness sides incompetence impacts the communities view of the surf...

Came here as a friend (local) recommended it for our visit. Amazing location, we arrived for dinner and the views did not disappoint. The ambience and vibe was good and the wait staff were actually great. Responsive, attentive and very helpful. Unfortunately the food was not up to the taste or value for what we'd hoped and expected. ($120 for 2 adults and a child).

The KG whiting had a choice of 1-3 pieces of fish (we'd ordered 1 piece and it was served with chips and garden salad. Fish piece was abysmally small and tasteless, the salad anything but a typical garden salad. Overloaded with chips.

Seafood plate came with 1 x Spencer prawn, 2 x oysters kilpatrick, 2 x battered fish and calamari. Oysters came with bbq sauce and not kilpatrick, salad again was Anything but garden. Overloaded with chips. To top it off Raj the chef was a little rude when he came out to question if we wanted our fish grilled (after we went to the counter to double check) as we have a gluten intolerance.

Overall disappointing and would never return based off the food quality and experience with Raj's rudeness. We like to support local clubs, and were close to not ordering the merchandise as well due to Raj's rudeness alone. But we would not do that to a local community based organisation. So we still purchased the merchandise. Would not recommend or return...

31/8 since my earlier review below, I then gave the GSLSC 1 star (which was a bit harsh considering the diabolical rules restaurants & small business had to go through during Covid), I have returned to the GSLSC. I have taken my family there for lunch twice. The meals are amazing, especially the Seniors meals during lunch for $12. The cocktails 🍹 are a great price and the SERVICE is beyond reproach. Today, 31/8, there were six of us friends for lunch. Again the food was wonderful, the service fabulous & the jug of PIMMS was amazing. The 6 of us have decided to make this place a 6 weekly lunch get-together at the GSLSC. With Spring approaching & Summer not to far away, the GSLSC will be a fantastic place to gather. The balcony views of the sea & everything else this place offers is a must. Thank you GSLSC for being a top-notch place for ppl to gather for lunch with excellent service and food. We’ll be back again in October.

PREVIOUS REVIEW (during COVID lockdown)

They wouldn’t take our booking of 18 ppl because one person was not vaccinated….unbelievable!! 18 ppl at approx $30 - $40 a head and they turned us down….their loss!!...

$6.50 for ice cubes in my iced coffee- as per receipt. Not even a large cup- it was either a medium or a 350ml cup. I ordered an iced latte. How difficult can that order be in a beachside cafe? That's way above the standard prices on the whole Jetty Road strip. $7.50 for the cake. 20% discount for takeaway. No disposable cutlery to be had so I had a mess on my hand trying to eat it on the beach- had to supervise kids. The staff literally couldn't find it with 2 staff looking in the store room. So no opinions. Just facts. Would you go to a cafe which does this? I won't. Doesn't matter if it tastes good. There are plenty of other cafes which serves good food which comes with adequate service. I am not even talking good service. I am talking even a modicum of service standard.

This place never fails to provide. Meals are always top quality at family friendly prices. Staff are welcoming and accommodating, the view from the club across the water is fantastic. Support your local slsc! Update 7/4/22 Went here again for dinner for a very rare family catch up, Ordered 5 meals, 2 came out, proceeded to wait 20 minutes before approaching the bar and enquiring, five minutes later someone comes out and tells the table there was an issue with the system. Still then everyone else's meals where coming out, finally the last 3 meals game out, long after the first two diners had finished, Even after that the steaks left plenty to be desired. Plenty of grissle 🤮
