Dining Experience @ Oyster Bar Holdfast Shores. . Established since September 2007, the Oyster Bar Holdfast Shores is one of three outlets across Australia, and a Glenelg institution that draws oyster and seafood enthusiasts. With some of the finest and freshest Australian oysters, a beautiful marina waterfront view, and refreshing tipples, this is a dining destination of choice. . Ambience is beautiful, with bright natural light, good shelter, and a view of the marina waterfront with its yachts. Furnishings are decently comfortable. . Service is friendly and welcoming. Staff demonstrate good product knowledge, and clean up quickly when diners leave. Ordering, payment, and collection is largely self-service over the counter. . Food is focused on Australian Seafood cuisine, featuring fresh fish and seafood, in particular, oysters. I enjoyed the dishes here. Portions are designed for sharing. Prices at Oyster Bar Holdfast Shores command a premium, budget about AUD $55 per person. . Fresh whole Australian King Prawns (AUD $26) with shells on. Peeled, we enjoyed the delightful juicy crunchy texture and their sweet savoury flavour with a hint of briny salty notes. Nicely appetizing. . The mixed platter of Oysters (AUD $43) features a dozen of these succulent shellfish, done in your choice of up to 4 different styles. . We opted for Oyster Oliver / Oyster Mignonette with its slippery crunchy juicy texture and bright sharp sour zesty vegetal sweet briny salty flavour. . The Oyster Kilpatrick with its slippery chewy soft texture and robust smoky meaty salty savoury sweet herbal flavour . The Oyster Darleyfella with its slippery creamy soft gooey texture and bold cheesy salty vegetal sweet flavour. . Although the Oyster Bar specializes in fresh oysters, they also offer a range of non-seafood options to cater to everyone's tastes. However, I highly recommend trying their all-time favorite Darley Fellas. The oysters are sourced from some of the best Oyster farms in Coffin Bay, situated in the heart of South Australia’s Oyster region on the Eyre Peninsula, just outside of Port Lincoln.
The menu at the Oyster Bar is available all day, every day, and features an exciting range of dishes to suit everyone's preferences. The staff are well-trained and knowledgeable, and they can help you find the perfect wine to complement your meal. They also offer an impressive selection of craft beers.
Don't miss out on their Oysters of the Month, and be sure to check out their weekday Happy Hour from 5 pm-6 pm, which offers discounted prices on Pints, House Wines, and Lemoncello Spritz.
If you're a fan of oysters, make sure to visit the Oyster Bar on Wednesdays, where their whole oyster menu is discounted all day. Additionally, their "Oyster Hour" on Friday nights offers discounted oysters and drink prices on all tap beer and house wines between 5 pm to 7 pm.

Windowpane oysters are harvested for their translucent shells, which are used to make various kinds of decorative objects.

Oysters are filter feeders, drawing water in over their gills through the beating of cilia. Suspended plankton and particles are trapped in the mucus of a gill, and from there are transported to the mouth, where they are eaten, digested, and expelled as feces or pseudofeces. Oysters feed most actively at temperatures above 10 °C (50 °F). An oyster can filter up to 5 L (1 1⁄4 US gal) of water per hour.
