I cannot overstate how disappointed and upset I am with UniLodge management. When I needed to end my lease early due to a family emergency, they still charged me over $1,000 to leave in 2 weeks instead of the “4 week notice”. That in itself is outrageous — but what shocked me most was their cold-hearted and insensitive request for medical certification of my family member’s condition, just to consider reducing the fee. This is beyond inappropriate. No student should be put in that position.
UniLodge markets itself as student accommodation, but their actions reveal a very different reality — it is a profit-driven business that lacks basic compassion and flexibility. For many of us, being a student comes with enough financial and emotional stress already, and UniLodge clearly has no concern for student welfare.
If you’re considering moving into UniLodge: think again. There are far better, more affordable, and more humane options off-campus. I strongly recommend using websites like flatmates.com.au to find shared housing. You’ll not only save money but avoid the inflexible and corporate-style policies of places like this.
This experience has left a terrible impression, and I sincerely hope no other student has to go...
Read moreWARNING: DO NOT RENT AN ACCOMMODATION HERE IF YOU ARE NEW. THE QUALITY OF ALL ROOMS EXCEPT GUGINYA IS POOR, WITH HOLES IN THE WALLS OF WAGAN. DO NOT TRUST THE FAKE ROOM LAYOUTS THAT THEY SHOW YOU, AND THE FAKE PERFECT PHOTOS. AND ONCE YOU DO ENTER A CONTRACT INTO WAGAN, GURUBUN OR GUGINYA, YOU'RE STUCK IN THE CONTRACT DUE TO THE $1000 DEPOSIT. STAY FOR NO MORE THAN A SEMESTER AND FIND BETTER ACCOMMODATIONS ON ALLHOMES.
MONTHLY INSPECTIONS WILL ALSO FAIL YOU FOR NO APPARENT REASON, AND THEY WILL CHARGE YOU A LOT OF MONEY WHICH DOES NOT REFLECT THE TRUE COST OF THE CLEANING SERVICES. AND IF THE SMOKE ALARM GOES OFF, THEY WILL CHARGE YOU $2000.

Read moreFor the room I stayed in, $60 a night would've been more appropriate. For $94+ a night, I'd expect free wifi, good phone signal throughout, a clean room, and enough toilet paper to last the length of my stay (x5 for a fully booked apartment with 5 guests). Despite its proximity to campus, I wouldn't stay here again. (See details below for specifics.)
The only saving grace was the lovely staff at reception who did all they could to save this disappointing experience. Maddy, Jared, and Joshua deserve a raise. While the room was a disappointment, they were...
