Read moreThe atmosphere and overall menu is fantastic, but I think we went on a bad day. Sadly, they get this negative review because of it. I appreciate that they were able to have a table for us after we were willing to wait 20-30 mins without a booking, we enjoyed their coffee, and saw all the amazing cakes and pastries they have, the coffee was beautiful by the way. They used nice coffee beans and it was made perfectly. We eventually sat down after a table became free and we were really impressed with the menu, there were some very funky options. We made the order, and we waited 45 minutes, and after we noticed the tables around us that arrived after us and ordered after us getting their food way before us, we decided to question the timing. We understood how busy they were but didn’t understand why other tables with more than 2 people, who ordered a while after us got their food before us, and we were just a table of two and ordered two simple dishes.. we were then told that our order has progressed and is now being made next, we didn’t believe it, we knew that there was obviously an error, and our order was either reprinted and or switched to go in front. We would’ve just preferred some honesty, if they came out and told us they made an error and they’ll do the order straight away, then it would’ve been 100% fine. But it was obviously covered up to make it look like our order was already next in line. Food arrived and the eggs Benedict eggs were not runny, they were close to well done, which traditionally are supposed to be runny eggs in a Benedict, the waitress said that that’s how the eggs are supposed to be, which is nonsense. The overall food was more on the average side, but I wouldn’t rate it anywhere near what people are raving on about this place. There’s better places out there. As I mentioned, we probably just went there on a bad day, but first impressions are the last ones with me. Happy to not return to this place when I’m back in Canberra next time. Good luck and I hope this place eventually gets it...
Read moreVisited Space Kitchen, renowned for its elaborate cakes and desserts. Starting off, the cafe exudes a modern vibe, complemented by an unmissable cake and dessert display - an absolute feast for the eyes. My friend enjoyed a well-brewed latte while I opted for the "Energiser" juice, a refreshing blend of watermelon, cucumber, apple, raspberry, lime, and mint. Perfectly fresh and invigorating!
For mains, my friend dove into the breakfast burrito, packed with an assortment of delightful ingredients from scrambled eggs to charred corn and chipotle sauce. It was as filling as it was flavorful. I settled for the summer Bircher muesli, a visually appealing dish with a delightful combination of mango, fresh berries, pineapple-infused pear, and more.
Cakes are truly the star attraction here. My friend's "Twice on a Stick" was decadently rich, and my "Psychedelic Mushroom" did not disappoint. However, the "Unicorn Hotcake," while tantalizing on the digital menu, missed the mark slightly by not featuring the anticipated rainbow base.
What's noteworthy is their app-based ordering system. Having images for every menu item is a brilliant touch, ensuring you know precisely what to expect. Although prices lean toward the higher end, they reflect the overall experience and the meticulous presentation of each dish. Service was commendable, with our server being attentive and efficient, especially given how bustling the place was.
In conclusion, if you've never been to Space Kitchen, it's an experience worth indulging in, especially for those with a sweet tooth. Highly...
