Beaches On Wave Street — Hotel in Gold Coast City

Very disappointed especially with lack of respect for one weary traveller to arrive late only to be found I was locked out. Forget about the message on the window saying ring this number we will respond. Had to ring several times before I bit a response. A friendly local tried to unlock the key box which you had to hold up. Basically had to talk above the young woman that I simply can't open the box when she finally responded to my phone calls. Young man who later rang was full of apologies but wasn't listening. Had to explain to both of them I'm very tired after travelling all day and I'm a 70 yr old woman. Eventually the young woman arrived clearly annoyed she had to come. Stated in her thick accent that she had sent me the pin in an email which "I never received". Gave me in instructions of how to get through the gate. No offer of help to carry my bags up three flights of stairs. Found this woman was rude no one in the office following morning apparently it's only opened for book ins. Place sadly needs a bit more effort all round. Don't look underneath the couch chair lounges. Only got two bars of soap and 4 sachets of coffee no milk the list goes on. No daily house cleaning and paid $144 plus per night instead of $97 as was advised. No lifts in this place furniture needs to be updated stains on lounge and chair. One dining room chair was missing a back piece. General cleanliness was ok but was left with a used serviette on the coffee table as well as a butt for making rollies. Rip in carpet in lounge area and stains.In general not up to scratch and I've worked as a Motel cleaner. Location was very handy to beaches shops and public transport. This once clearly was one of the elite Motels on the Gold Coast. Good to see other visitors have been honest about this place. Never seen runs this place. Pool area...

Loved the location. Pleasant but basic setup in the unit that I stayed (via Airbnb). Would say closer to 3.5 stars where I stayed.

Massive tv and Netflix very appreciated, though the net was out for a couple of days when I got there. Just bad timing as my messages didn’t get to the host until much later that day. It took just over a couple of days to get going. This was NOT on-site management though.

Full kitchen was good. Bathroom was pretty good with washer dryer, though for a full size human the toilet was a bit awkwardly placed; and the dryer died on the day I left so I had some wet clothes to take home with me.

Some very minor roadwork noise (occasionally) noticeable out the back at the moment, but not too much; however some noise from upstairs did carry at 4am a few days; and the lock from the entrance door was LOUD. It sounded like people were coming in. Most of the time it was fine. But at night and early morning it was a bit more noticeable.

The carpark was secure and while the spots weren’t too generous, they weren’t too small either. The automatic lights were very convenient and multiple staircases and car park entries were also very well thought out, so apartment access was straightforward.

Local cafes and eateries looked fun. Not too close to tourist traps.

We arrived late due to the reception closing earlier on Sunday and flight delay, and got one set of keys from the box outside the reception. The unit is using double locks by sharing the same key and the top lock (dead lock) should not be used, however, nil instructions about that before we attempted to unlock both of them. We eventually opened the door after trying multiple times. Once we left the unit, and realised we can not open again. So we have to call the reception staff to come to fix it. We were told we will be charged $40 for the after hour call in fee. This can not be waived even though there is no notification before receiving the keys . This is very unfair!!!

Also based on the booking, hair dryer is included, but no hair dryer found after hair wash. We have to ask for one in the reception on the following day.

On the 1st night, we sat on the couch to eat and found there are so many sands on the couch. We have to clean it up on our own...
