Very bad experience from an unproffesional agent on a paradise island Recently during a trip to whitsundays in early August, specifically to Hamilton island between 8th-11th August an inquiry was made to the reservation system for a quad bike tour. Due to not staying overnight at the island, response from the booking agent was to ask on the day. As soon as we have landed at the airport on 8th August at around 12pm, call was made to the booking agent situated at the Resort who replied the system is currently going through an update which should finish in 15 minutes thus to come in person and should be available by then. Upon arriving there shortly after 12.20pm we were met by disinterested booking agent (female, early 20s, possibly light blond hair) who we previously spoke to about the system is still down and does not know how long for, we could however, take a bus to the place of tour and possibly go in person and arrange later. The information about the bus was wrong as it would arrive past the time of the tour - not every 15 minutes but every 45 minutes, thus we speedwalked over to the place of tour - over 30mins by walk with luggages Nonetheless, we could not have made arrangements in person and it was already fully booked out.
The booking agent could have been upfront about the options and instead of giving false hope could have suggested doing anything else that was available around and was in her power to organise. Or even to do the bare minimum and keep our luggage on a hot day when we had to do such big walk. Instead, wrong information was given on multiple instances which cascaded into disheartened stay on an island limited by departure time. If a situation is affected by the system and not even knowing full picture information, better approach is to try to communicate this with supervisor or suggest anything else available, most importantly to be upfront and honest.
On last day Friday 11th August, at around 10am we approached the centre for information about a hike to a nearby Passage peak and this same resort booking agent at the desk said it would have been about 30mins one way walk from where we were, at the resort. It has actually turned out the hike was marked as 1h hike and we only discovered this at the bottom of the hill where the trail begun. While we are profficient hikers and can make even difficult hikes at shorter period, there is no chance from the resort to top of the peak it would have been 30mins or 30mins from bottom to top of the hill either. As we were already there and hoped we could make the climb fast, it actually took about 40 mins for experienced, hikers in early 30s to climb up. Because of this, we almost...
Read moreLovely place to visit. We were sailing in the whitsunday Islands and decided to have a stopover at Hamilton Island Marina for a night. We called up the marina on VHF 68 and waited for the rubber ducky to come out and escort us to our berth between a couple of super yachts. After plugging into the shore power and water, we were off to hire a couple of electric golf buggies to explore the island. We pre booked on the app an hour before the pick up time for the buggies, luckily, as they sold out just after we arrived. We followed to map and stopped for a drink at One Tree Hill and went all the way out to the airport and checked out the rest of the roads. definitely a place we would revisit. Plenty of eating choices. We had the pizza followed by ice cream. Checkout was 10:30am the next morning and we were off to explore Lindaman Island to the South East of...
Read moreA beatiful building to start with, really suits this tropical location. There's a Bowling Alley and also a cute little jewellery shop and a hairdressing salon located under the samee roof. At the desk, the always smiling and helpful staff can (and will) help with advising and booking in all kinds of activities on or around the Island. Boat cruises to the Great Barrier Reef, Parasailing, Quad bike riding, Go-kart driving, Golf driving range, Mini golf, Jetski tours, Fishing tours, Seaplane or Helicopter rides, the list goes on. You name it, they'll help you with it. Even advising you on the fantastic selection of dining options. Couldn't have been happier! There are a few islands in the Whitsunday region, they all are nice on their own right, but then there is Hamilton Island. A real piece of...
