We have been surprised at a few things that seem in bad taste and strangly petty at the hotel across our 5 night stay.|Firstly, we wondered if we could ask if we may be able to microwave something in the kitchen open hours and were told that we would need a room upgrade to a room that has a microwave for that and the kitchen didn't do it. Totally ok if they dont do it, but there was a bit of attitude in the way we were told, and we didn't know. Often, hotels give an air of ' come ask if you dont know, it's ok to ask us.'||On the second day of our stay, at 11 45am / 12pm, we requested whether we could have the sheets changed as we had spilled a little food on it ( helpful for the hotel because then a stain won't set in, helpful for the us so that we don't have a red sause wet patch on the bed). We were told housekeeping shifts had finished, and they had gone home for the day. We asked if we could change the sheet ourselves and if they would be ok to give us a top sheet to do this. Reception said this was fine.|Then, when we left the room to go downstairs and get it, we saw several rooms on our floor that were still having housekeeping services, including the room next door. When we went to reception, we requested if just our top sheet could be changed as housekeeping was still happening in the rooms on our floor.|The person at reception said,' Well, perhaps they don't like you.' We had stayed 1 night, surely that couslnt be the case. That was our first interaction with them.I could see this was a joke, but it did seem a little strange. When we came back to the room, we saw the whole bed had been redone. This was much appreciated but not quite necessary. |We ate and drank in the hotel bar, ordering big meals like the steak, but then we're told it would cost an additional $1.80 per sause we ordered. Thst seems rich, when the meal is expensive, to make us pay additionally per ketchup or Mayo addition. It seems in poor taste. ||At a different point, we were playing cards in the lobby/ lounge area, we has asked if we were to order uber eats, would it be acceptable to eat that here rather than the room. We were told this was fine. this area is seperate to the bar/ restraunt. We had our own drinks with us and we were told to leave- not told 'we couldn't have them so would we mind getting rid of them', not told 'you can only drink in this area if you order at the bar', not told, 'unfortunalty you can't have those here but you can order from the bar and drink them here', we were just told to leave, as guests staying in the hotel that were actually unaware we were not supposed to do that. That felt quite shocking and a bit aggressive. ||These are the bigger ones, and there were a few times of being brought meals and needing to remind them we would also like cutlery, please, or other small things at check-in. It seemed like the staff didn't want to be there, and absolut were not I threshed in small gestures to make the stay pleasant and make us feel welcome. ||The beds were comfortable and the place was clean, he location was also good. But i wouldnt come back as these things above felt unnecisarily rude. Especially as we were quite polite and tentative when...
Read moreI had an overall negative experience with the hotel. The room furniture was very outdated, resembling more of a motel, and even some motels were better in comparison. In contrast to their RSCV Victoria location, this one is in desperate need of an upgrade. The room furniture was off-putting from the start. I had to personally remind the staff about items included in my package, which should have been the other way around. Unlike my pleasant experiences in other RSCV hotels, nothing was in the room when we arrived, despite checking in quite late.“When I inquired about the wine package I was supposed to receive, they literally asked me to come downstairs and pick it up myself. They forgot to arrange it to the room. This falls far short of good customer service. I could even hear people running and moving upstairs. Room was full of dust on bedsides I don’t think they clean enough these rooms. Toilet was clean had good breakfast only plus point we had.If you're seeking a relaxing room without the worry of paying little extra there are many other places around. Additionally, there was confusion about our late check-out request, and when I questioned the reception the next day, they threatened to make us leave at 10:30 without any extra charges. Only after I mentioned checking the fine print did they remember that we were entitled to a late check-out. Our keys stopped working after 10, car park access was unavailable, and housekeeping knocked on our door while we were resting. It was a terrible experience. The staff definitely needs proper training in checking offers they have and providing service.”We stayed in Hobart for a week and a bit. I choses to stay for here for last two days before leave since it’s bit cost effective .I've had great stays at Mövenpick, where the atmosphere was truly enjoyable. In hindsight, I should have spent more time at those hotel, not stressing about money. Unfortunately, it was a lesson learned...
Read moreWords cannot describe how impressed I am with the service my brother and I received at the RACV Hobart Hotel. I would like to give a big shoutout to Ranjan as well as Teresa for the absolutely fantastic service. We had a very small leak in our bathroom and were immediately transferred to a much larger room and were given a free meal to makeup for us having to relocate rooms. Ranjan was very apologetic and was so kind to both of us. This was just one example of how incredible the service is. When we went to dinner, we were met with such a lovely greeting from Teresa, after a nice little conversation, she went through the menu with us and helped us decide on what fish to order. The food came so fast, and it was honestly the best food I have ever had, I’m not just saying it, the flavours were combined so perfectly and the meals and drinks were presented so artistically, the chef is certainly highly skilled in their craft. We certainly came back several more times throughout our stay to try out different meals on the menu, each and every time we were amazed by how great the food and service was, Teresa greeted us so kindly every single time we came in. The gym was there was also amazing, it was very large and had a nice range of equipment to try out, along with a nice cooled water fountain, showers, and bathrooms. Thank you so very much for the outstanding service we received during our stay, to all the staff who were so kind and helpful, thank you. We will definitely be coming to Tasmania again sometime in the near future, and will without a doubt choose to stay at the RACV Hobart...
