Stayed here at FCH for 8 nights and can honestly say it was a wonderful holiday. We have 2 lively boys (7 and 5) who we put in ski school for the week. Shuttle straight outside the hotel to take you down to the plaza to get the chair lift up to the top. If your family are able to ski you can amble across the bowl to the Eagle Chair lift and ski to any lessons (super easy run). ||Hotel staff at FCH are a credit, nothing is too much trouble and they are always friendly and professional. Didn’t meet them all but Lisa and Damien who own it are great, as are Zoe, Bridget, Kirsty, Nicola, Jayden, Callum - ALL are so friendly so apologies for not remembering more! ||Kids club at 6pm is an absolute winner as you can take yourself off to the games room for a glass of wine or a cocktail in front of the fire, whilst staff oversee your children eating. The food for kids was good, always something they would eat (chicken nuggets, spaghetti bolognaise, fish and chips, roast beef, steak and always with a serving of salad or vegetables. Pudding was chocolate cake, ice cream, frog in the pond, apple strudel etc..). At 6.45ish the children then make their way to the games room for movies, games etc.. whilst the adults have dinner. Big shout out to Josh, Elise and Elouise from kids club as they were AMAZING plus in the day they also work at ski school. ||On to the food, staying for 8 nights you would’ve thought we’d get an average meal at some point but can honestly say the food was delicious and always cooked perfectly - steak was divine as was the lasagne, soup, haloumi and lamb shank. The only thing for us that would have been nice was a menu change - this is only as we stayed for 8 nights an additional item or special on the mains would’ve been a great addition but this is a tiny point and as I say good was good and plentiful! ||Ski hire downstairs is so easy and having a locker and dry room saves cluttering the room. The boys were fitted in minutes with all their gear. ||We stayed in a queen and 2 singles room which was fine for the 4 of us and cleaned each day which was nice. No bath for the kids but shower was fine for the week.||Last thing to mention is the fireworks display on a Thursday night - what a treat and what a spectacular display! All to be admired from your table at dinner or if you wanted to brave the cold from the balcony of the hotel with a beer in hand. A fabulous end to a fabulous holiday.||Before we checked out I was looking at when I could next visit which is testament to everyone at FCH, we very much look forward to...
Read moreCan't recommend this hotel enough. We stayed here for 5 nights and went for the breakfast and evening meal included option.
The food was the highlight of our stay. The cooked breakfasts were great and had a good selection. The evening meals were delicious and there was fantastic variety. After a day of skiing, I decent cooked meal was exactly what we wanted.
With the evening meal, you can select a 3 course meal. The portions were huge and we rarely had enough space for pudding.
The hotel has a steam room, pool and hot tub which were all excellent. A drying room and laundry facilities were also helpful.
There is a ski hire shop at the entrance and a locker is included with your room. There is a guest lounge area away from the bar/restaurant area which was a great place to relax and read a book.
The staff were all super friendly and helpful. The hotel is very close to the start of the slopes. We had to walk across a road when we were there, but that's because it hadn't really snowed.
There is a happy hour here on Tuesday and Thursday 3:30 to 5:30 where you can get a large cocktail jug for $40. It does get a bit rowdy in the bar and balcony during this time but you can escape the the guest lounge if it gets a bit loud.
Would...
Read moreFirstly Falls itslelf is all around a great set up - seemless operation; from buying stuff online to getting stuff done; staff from the lifts to the restaurants to the snow patrol all freindly and helpfull. Seems expensive (it is) but great value when you realise what is involved.||||On to the FCH - all the reviews are spot on - fabulous staff, couldnt do enough - so many examples of going the extra mile. Food unexpectedly high restaurant standard and variety. Sensational location. Awesome quality gear and staff in the hire shop. Rooms small and utilitarian which was an initial shock (we did have the queen and 2 singles so that didnt help) but seriously we just slept there - the lounge and bar areas, the pool and spa and the welcoming culture, all conspired to us feeling at home - just in an incredible setting and property -...
