I haven’t written a review for a regional hotel in a while even though i often travel extensively across Australia. You realise if you travel enough that regional hotels seem to be bland and generic, often offering three star service for a four star rating. This is particularly noticeable in the way services are delivered where often the bare minimum is common place.||Which is why it is so refreshing to find a hotel like Quality hotel in Wangaratta of all places. From the website and when you first arrive the hotel is unassuming and one could easily be forgiven for driving past without a second thought. Yet as I entered I knew this hotel was special. ||I was greeted by zac at reception. After some initial confusion with booking the staff fixed up the situation seamlessly. The rooms are spacious and set up in a comfortable way. 4 pillows come standard and there two additional pillows in the wardrobe of different hardness. ||The air conditioning was clean which is rare for regional hotels and maintained well. The room was quick to heat up to the set temperature. The fridge was spacious with plenty of room for additional food storage if needed.||The bathroom was designed well with good drainage and a bath mat was rarely required. All the amenities are here and replaced daily. ||Overall it’s the small details that sets this hotel apart. They cleaned my car windscreen overnight and were constantly attentive to my needs in the week I stayed here.||Where it excels however was in the food it provides. Easily the best steak I’ve ever had in a regional hotel, the delivery was quick without sacrificing on quality. Other meals I had was also of exceptional quality. ||Lastly the wi-fi was elite providing consistent speeds of above 100Mbit up and down irrespective of the time of day.||I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I can’t understand how this can be the second best hotel in town when it’s probably the best regional hotel I have stayed at in...
Read moreI just want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Gareway Hotel Wangaratta - I stayed with them for a few nights, just after coming out of hospital, when I was in a pretty vulnerable state, and I couldn't have felt more cared for and secure than at this hotel. The room & bed was incredibly comfortable, I felt so safe and at home, it was super luxurious, which is something that was consistent throughout the entire hotel and my experience there. Staff ALWAYS went above and beyond to be helpful and caring, it really touched me. The entire atmosphere - especially the dining bar, pool, spa etc was superb and I forgot I was in Wangaratta the entire time I was there to be honest - it felt more like being at a luxury hotel on coastal Queenland somewhere. I can't thank you enough for caring for me. And I cannot recommend this place well enough. Although I didn't venture out of my room to eat, and was a little too shy to venture out apart from once while my room was serviced (I went in the outdoor spa and pool and lounged in one of the cabanas - which I ended up enjoying so much I stayed there most of the day even after my room was finished!) I did order room service and the food was absolutely amazing. Honestly a 5 star hotel. Thank you so much again. I really needed this
(Also, my car windshield was washed complimentary every day I used my car - I found a lovely little note on the windshield every time I got in my car to go anywhere. It's the little things that make a big...
Read moreWe had booked Quality Hotel Wangaratta Gateway for the Easter break as Wangaratta was central to Beechworth, Milawa Gourmet food route, Brown Brothers, Bright and wineries just across the border. Not having much knowledge about the town and Albury -Wodonga being better known country towns, I was very pleasantly surprised by the poshness of the hotel – a far cry from a small-time motel. We were welcomed very pleasantly and professionally by the reception in spite reaching two hours later than the advised arrival time on a Good Friday. We were taken pleasantly by the manicured garden at the entrance which set the mood for the stay in the hotel. Rooms in the hotel are set up in such a way that it does not feel cramped with ample of cupboards to hide the luggage. I personally judge a house and hotels by the design and appearance of bathroom. The design of the bathroom was very modern and very clean providing ample of basic needs. The hotel has a nice swimming pool which in spite of the good weather over Easter, we missed having a dip but definitely enjoyed the ambience set up by potted plants. We had requested for cutlery and crockery which was serviced every day including the room even though we were staying for three nights. I wanted to express my gratitude to the cleaners but was by my wife to keep the Australian tradition. In future if I were to visit the high country again I would choose Wangaratta instead of Albury and only Quality Hotel...
