Friendly wait staff, but food was pretty ordinary and very overpriced. Make sure you bring a copy of your receipt with you if you've paid a deposit to prove it when you go to pay the bill. Price we were quoted for the set menu (and paid a deposit for) jumped considerably when we went to pay. If you book, get costs in writing.
Hi Damian. Just in response to your reply, you didn't actually speak to me personally, it was someone else in the group but I was present and saw what happened. So I can say with certainty that there's no embarrassment motivating this review, only disappointment at having everyone upset about what happened there on Christmas day. I'm not sure what happened with being told the wrong pricing, but fully believe the person who rang you about the costs, as they discussed it with us after the call as to whether to go ahead with the booking with the cost per head. I know in the future when booking for events like this, I've certainly learned the lesson to get something in writing, and the benefits of bringing proof of a deposit being paid to the venue! (Since that was also questioned and amounted to another $250. Perhaps the way information regarding prices and deposits for groups being booked at your venue needs to be looked at to prevent these kinds of misunderstandings?) We will not be returning which is probably for the best for both parties involved. The tip was left by another member of the party who felt the wait staff deserved it for working on Christmas despite what happened with the management side of things. As I said in the original review, they were friendly and we appreciated their time despite the disappointing meal and what...
Read moreFirst of all, before I start my review, I would like for those who are reading the reviews to take note of the harsh critics. They seem to only have 1 - 3 reviews!! 🤷🏼♂️ Jealous opposition? Anyway, I thought I would organise a night here due to it being across the road where the better half and I were staying. When I read a (one of the truthful) review that mentioned to try the 'Feed me' menu, I had to do this. We love a degustation option. Everything was presented well, fresh and tasted beautiful. The chef's selections we received were oysters, garlic foccaccia, mussels, eye fillet carpaccio, vegetarian spring roll, calamari, chicken breast with gnocchi, scotch fillet steak and a popcorn and mousse dessert. This will vary on different nights, I assume. Staff were excellent, didn't take them long to realise I like a beer. They were very friendly and Bec was always cheerful. A great atmosphere and this restaurant have also thought of some small things that you don't find very often, I won't mention as this is their touch. We will be back, and I would say we will be bringing along company. Highly...
Read moreWatermarc is a very refined dining experience, however the quality is below my expectations for a restaurant of seemingly high stature. First off the wine selection is amazing, but sadly only the “by the bottle” selection as the “by the glass” doesn’t cover major selections of wine flavours and is inconvenient if you do not wish to get a whole bottle of wine, as for meals the kilpatrik oysters were the best I’ve had in a long while, gnocchi was very oily and rather unpleasant to eat, featuring very tough mushrooms and very firm gnocchi bits, and the pork belly was nice and crisp with beautiful fatty crackle? I’m actually unsure of what exactly it was, but the presentation was awkward as there was a massive amount of beansprouts smacked right in the middle of the dish making it very annoying to eat as I wanted the garnish of spring onion and crispy shallots on the top of the pile. I did enjoy the experience all out but the restaurant doesn’t meet the expectations that it currently has in the food department, overall...
