We stayed at M. on July 2020 for almost a week (Mon – Fri). Our experience was awful and the holiday was almost spoiled because of the rude staff and poor room service. Here are some specifics: Hand wash and body wash in the shower was diluted so that it was just a water which was disgusting to feel and use. Toilet was leaking / emptying the tank and constantly refilling it with the relevant noise. Neighbors’ room / bathroom heard throughout our stay, furniture is outdated. Room was dirty, all the surfaces were covered with a layer of dust, tea cups were left dirty, no vacuuming. When asked receptionist for a room cleaning, The show began: staff covered each other, were rude, cleaning lady advised we’d better stayed at a 5-star hotel if we wanted a clean room. The epic was a written note “Enjoy” from a cleaning lady left on the dirty table she didn’t clean. the fact she left this note speaks for itself - the level of the customer service. The worst experience we have ever had. I would nor recommend this place to anyone to stay. Nelsons Bay is a great place and we are definitely coming again but definitely not staying at Marina

Reception staff was rude upon our arrival, we were really happy to be there and greeted them with a smile however we didn’t receive no hello or anything. Room keys were just given to us but no indication on how to find the room? Had to ask where the room is located and wad just told „take the lift to second floor“ ? We come in the room it looked quite tidy, nice sea view (can’t complain about that) but then had to use the bathroom…… where do I even start. Used towels hanging? Already more than half used toilet paper roll? And also covered in dust? Hair all over the bathtub? That was quite disgusting. I will attach pictures. Going out and back in and you just get a super rude look from the reception ladies? Honestly if you have a bad day and bring it out on your customers you shouldn’t be working in customer service. Definitely won’t be booking with them again as it was overall not a nice experience.

This place is lovely and clean. And the view is the icing on the cake. We stayed at the Queen and Single room on the 2nd floor and the King size room on the 3rd floor and both are nice and clean. I love the smell of their shower gel and shampoo so no need to worry about bringing your own. The beds are comfortable and the room is big enough with a table and chairs. The balcony faces the beautiful view of Nelson Bay. The pool is clean and well kept. This place is only 3 minute walk to the town centre and the beach. Unfortunately the restaurant don’t cater for dinner so we booked a table at The Nelson Way. Breakfast at the hotel would have been great because you’ve the view to look at while you’re eating but the time was a bit too early for us, 7:30 - 9:30 and we want to go body boarding very early first so we booked at The Nelson Way again for breakfast. Overall, I’ll definitely recommend this place.

Unfortunately we would never recommend for anyone to book here due the owners lack of empathy and flexibility during a very difficult situation. My partner booked us a stay here for my birthday / baby moon as I am currently 38 weeks pregnant. The day before the booking, my father suffered from a seizure and has been critically unwell in hospital. My partner phoned the hotel and spoke with the manager to cancel the booking and to reorganise a refund or another date. The owner said he was unable to do a refund and would need my partner to pick a date within 24 hours. We attempted to phone back the next day with no success and were unable to get onto the owner until the following day (monday) - to which he stated “I gave you until 4pm Sunday, it’s too bad” and refused to allow us to rebook or receive any kind of refund. I understand this was later than the owner requested (by less than 24 hours) however we didn’t have time to phone and phone again to get a hold of someone, particularly whilst my father was so unwell. As you can understand, we were under a lot of pressure and stress at the time, staying at the hospital for hours on end whilst heavily pregnant and this man couldn’t even find it in his heart to give some kind of flexibility under these unique and unfortunate circumstances. This ruined my birthday, our last hospital as a couple on our own before our beautiful baby arrive and added extra stress to an already really hard situation. I would NEVER support a business with these...

Marina Resort is conveniently located in the town centre of Nelso Bay. It's only a five minute walk to the harbour. The car parking is huge and so are the hotel rooms. We have stayed in one of the Garden rooms and you may not be able to see the harbour from there but you can use a little terrace, step out on the lawn and more or less fall into the hotel's own swimming pool. The room was clean, the interior not very modern but that didn't matter at all for all you really need is a comfortable bed, a fridge, a closet, a tv and a clean bathroom. The rooms normally come with a third bed (and even a sofabed), in case you'll bring a friend (will cost extra, though). The reception foxtel channels that were advertised isn't very good but you shouldn't stay in watching tv all day anyway. You can get all-you-can-eat breakfast in addition to your room booking (just 15 AUD per person per day) and you pay when you check-out. The breakkie (as well as dinner) is being served on the top floor so you can enjoy the fabulous view onto the harbour - and even spot some dolphins when you're lucky. Breakfast is all you need, nothing fancy (bacon, eggs, sausages, hash brown, pan cakes, different kinds of cereals etc.). The staff is helpful and very friendly. You'll get plenty information about what to do at Nelson Bay if you need it. Would always come back to this hotel as the price for the room is...

An easy drive from Sydney. A smooth arrivals process with plenty of onsite parking. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Marina Resort. Very friendly and helpful staff from check in to check out. We especially loved meeting Reg the placid schnauzer at reception. We enjoyed a swim in the amazing pool and lazed around with drinks from the bar at the very relaxing poolside until early evening. Our room was beautiful with stunning views across the bay. A storm rolled in over the back overnight and we watched from our balcony. We realised the entire resort had recently been renovated and it is quite impressive to say the least. ||Lots to see in a short walk or drive including some delicious food. We had delicious Greek dinner at Atmos- Shoal Bay and breakfast at the recommended Magnolia cafe on the Marina which did not disappoint. ||A hike we love is the Tomaree Head summit - the view from the top is worth the climb. ||There is so much to be appreciated here at Marina Resort from the finer details in the rooms and pool area, to the relaxed and friendly vibe of the whole resort. ||We will be back as frequent guests. |Thanks for a...
