Unfortunately we would never recommend for anyone to book here due the owners lack of empathy and flexibility during a very difficult situation. My partner booked us a stay here for my birthday / baby moon as I am currently 38 weeks pregnant. The day before the booking, my father suffered from a seizure and has been critically unwell in hospital. My partner phoned the hotel and spoke with the manager to cancel the booking and to reorganise a refund or another date. The owner said he was unable to do a refund and would need my partner to pick a date within 24 hours. We attempted to phone back the next day with no success and were unable to get onto the owner until the following day (monday) - to which he stated “I gave you until 4pm Sunday, it’s too bad” and refused to allow us to rebook or receive any kind of refund. I understand this was later than the owner requested (by less than 24 hours) however we didn’t have time to phone and phone again to get a hold of someone, particularly whilst my father was so unwell. As you can understand, we were under a lot of pressure and stress at the time, staying at the hospital for hours on end whilst heavily pregnant and this man couldn’t even find it in his heart to give some kind of flexibility under these unique and unfortunate circumstances. This ruined my birthday, our last hospital as a couple on our own before our beautiful baby arrive and added extra stress to an already really hard situation. I would NEVER support a business with these...
Read moreMarina Resort is conveniently located in the town centre of Nelso Bay. It's only a five minute walk to the harbour. The car parking is huge and so are the hotel rooms. We have stayed in one of the Garden rooms and you may not be able to see the harbour from there but you can use a little terrace, step out on the lawn and more or less fall into the hotel's own swimming pool. The room was clean, the interior not very modern but that didn't matter at all for all you really need is a comfortable bed, a fridge, a closet, a tv and a clean bathroom. The rooms normally come with a third bed (and even a sofabed), in case you'll bring a friend (will cost extra, though). The reception foxtel channels that were advertised isn't very good but you shouldn't stay in watching tv all day anyway. You can get all-you-can-eat breakfast in addition to your room booking (just 15 AUD per person per day) and you pay when you check-out. The breakkie (as well as dinner) is being served on the top floor so you can enjoy the fabulous view onto the harbour - and even spot some dolphins when you're lucky. Breakfast is all you need, nothing fancy (bacon, eggs, sausages, hash brown, pan cakes, different kinds of cereals etc.). The staff is helpful and very friendly. You'll get plenty information about what to do at Nelson Bay if you need it. Would always come back to this hotel as the price for the room is...
Read moreAn easy drive from Sydney. A smooth arrivals process with plenty of onsite parking. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Marina Resort. Very friendly and helpful staff from check in to check out. We especially loved meeting Reg the placid schnauzer at reception. We enjoyed a swim in the amazing pool and lazed around with drinks from the bar at the very relaxing poolside until early evening. Our room was beautiful with stunning views across the bay. A storm rolled in over the back overnight and we watched from our balcony. We realised the entire resort had recently been renovated and it is quite impressive to say the least. ||Lots to see in a short walk or drive including some delicious food. We had delicious Greek dinner at Atmos- Shoal Bay and breakfast at the recommended Magnolia cafe on the Marina which did not disappoint. ||A hike we love is the Tomaree Head summit - the view from the top is worth the climb. ||There is so much to be appreciated here at Marina Resort from the finer details in the rooms and pool area, to the relaxed and friendly vibe of the whole resort. ||We will be back as frequent guests. |Thanks for a...
